- I pull the Carbon Hardtop from the mold! There are some minor defects on this first one and changes will be made on the next one I build. Thank for watching!

A man of good taste I see. Fastback. 3D printers, carbon fiber. Miatas. Kirkey racing seats. Sounds a lot like me.
That came out pretty awesome
I love this project, almost wanting to buy a 3D printer just to do this. Keep it up
Looks great! How do you plan on attaching the top to the body? Imo if you use striker plates (like the oem hardtop) then you'll have a much easier time taking the top off and it would be worthwhile to make the trunkpiece removable.
Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah I am starting to think oem hardtop latches/plates would be best. Then maybe I could do something with quick latch buttons on the trunk piece to make that easy to remove as well.
If you bond that piece to the trunk, you won't be able to open the trunk without taking the top off. Actually, you'll have to remove it either way. Maybe bond it to the trunk, then pull the mold as one piece, and hinge it off the top so it remains functional?
Thanks for the suggestion! This is actually close to what I am planning on doing. I will go over how I plan to do it in my next video, but I am actually going to keep and use the stock trunk hinges.
If you went for a forged carbon look it'd be even more badass! If you just laid chopped Carbon over the top it'd hide all the seams where the different weave came together.
Yeah I wish I had been more careful with that. That’s a good idea though I might do that in the future.
@@HutchinsRacing you have done an amazing job as is.
Great Video, can you tell me or send me a link to that red vacuumbag that you are using?

@@HutchinsRacing thank you very much
Very nice work! So what the end goal, are you planning on selling these once they meet the quality you were expecting?
p.s. I'd be interested
Thanks! Once I get the quality the way I want it I would like to sell at least a few. Ideally I would like to recoup the amount of money I’ve put into it at the very least and then decide if I want to keep going from there.
@@HutchinsRacing Completely understand, sometimes these things are done solely for the passion of it and aren't always worth the hassle in a long term sense. But if you do I'll be keeping an eye out lol.
this one going into my archives....ill probably do something like you just not 3d print a giant ass fastback mold LOLL...probably use my hardtop and do clay mold.....LOL
Haha I thought about clay/foam but I liked that I could just hit a button and go to work and come back to pieces that were all dimensionally accurate. To each his own though. Good luck!
@@HutchinsRacing yea...its just i dont have a 3d printer LOLLLLLLLLLLL
u have any good videos about learning how to do a fastback with fiberglass or clay? cuz i have the same plan
Dude let me tell you something, i will sponsor you when the time is right, I promise you that.
Haha! Thanks for the support.
It looks like porshe.so ugly
