Awesome Job, I've seen so many people printing their own hard tops lately and all of them have been coming up with what i considered rather over complicated methods of attaching the panels together. The way you did it honestly seemed like a such a no brainer to me but I can't even lie, I never thought of it either. 😁
Thanks! It saves a lot of material not having to print all the little clips to join each piece.
That's awesome!! Now we need a take able the bmw Z3's. My 2002 Z3 needs one or someway to turn it in to a coupe. Love what you made. 🥰
i appreciate you making this. a real help to the community
So excited to be here at the start of this one. Can’t wait to see where you take this!
You should make a v- something and give it a actual hatchback thatd be sick
Dude this is one of the best, more informative and inspirational videos ever. A bunch of us Honda Beat owners are thinking about how to use this method on our cars too! Thanks for sharing your process and making a super unique Miata 😁👍
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Oh man.. i should have watched this along time ago 😅... This is stupid easy 🎉
Very cool! I have a BMW Z3 I'd love to make a hardtop for. Not sure where to begin.
Hi! Amazing job! I was wondering where you got the MX5 NB 3D model from, hope you can help me
Would you ever consider doing this for the BMW Z3?
if this was a water proof targa top, where the removable part is storable in the car, I would buy this now!
I bet u would but sadly you ain't getting that for 500
Hi, what metal bracket is that at 7:09? Is it just a normal hardtop bracket I can buy anywhere?
Did you use the front strikers for the sides? I’m about to start assembling mine and I wasn’t sure what hardware I’d need to attach it to my Miata(NA)
No the front strikers and latches are a little different than the side ones. It basically uses the same hardware as the oem hardtop. You can also use the mounts from 5x racing that weigh a lot less than the oem mounting hardware.
3d printed filament holder too🤔🤔
What 3d printer was used?
Where do you get the brackets/connectors to secure the top onto the A pillars?
I got those from 5x Racing
Hope i didn't miss it, but what are you doing for the windows?
Part 3 video coming soon where I will talk about the windows
Could you model one for the rx7 fc vert?
Yess
Have you considered a targa version of this top? I actually signed up for one from Panos but have yet to receive it.
I’ve never really understood the concept of the targa fastback on this car because your trunk space would be open to the interior.
@@HutchinsRacing I personally wanted it so I can still drive with top down whilst having the rear portion on. This way it still retains some convertible aspect of it
@@user-qn5yx6st9f sorry I was confusing a targa with a hatchback. Yes a targa would be sweet although I think it would weigh more since it has to have extra support where it detaches. My aim is as little weight as possible. It would be cool though.
It looks amazing but i have one question
Does it fit a NA miata?
Im looking for a hardtop and my friend is selling his for 4000zł
Wich is around 1k dollars
So it would be a nice and unique money saver
Yes it fits the NA miata.
@@HutchinsRacing gotta get me some filament
How much filament i need for the Hardtop?
7-10 kg
Cool tech, but not what I'd spend money on. Might be useful for making a fiberglass mold for making CF and FRP. Still seems easier to just build a buck tho.
With a buck you are forced to make a mold and then the actual part. With this you can just lay some fiberglass on both sides and your done. No mold necessary.
what is a buck?
What material was used to print this ?
I use PETG but ASA also works
@@HutchinsRacing nice thanks for the advice
Can you drop the price on your fast back files?
Time. Time. Time. They dont make more of it and that is more precious than $500. Well done, but no.
God what a rubbish design. you can't even open the boot, which means you've got to take it all off to open your boot
The trunk lid opens without removing the top.
say ur british without saying ur british haha
@@tezzla6358 ok
does it fit the nc2?
Sorry no It doesn’t.
@@HutchinsRacingwill you ever make an NC hardtop??
