for next time or repair I recommend using a strip of thinner glass on those awkward edges. You can build up a few layers. It will be just as strong in the end but you wont have those mis forming. If you go with carbon later do the same thing, carbon is even less conforming. A little tip from building surfboards! sick build though
Hey, first of all... Very cool videos! Thanks for all the information. Love it. I'm relatively new to the whole topic and was wondering (because I saw on another youtuber that he created the whole hardtop with a negative) Why you decided to just reinforce the 3d print and not use it as a "mold" for a negative like you did on the trunk? Are there any advantages to that (besides probably being a bit easier)? Thanks a lot!
Good question! It’s cheaper and easier to just reinforce the print itself because if you use the print as a mold you will need a lot more fiberglass to make it as strong as it is here with the print in the middle. Lots of professional fiberglass made parts have a “core material” for added strength. This is basically what I am doing here but all in one step.
Yes I can send you a combined file but you will need a massive 3D printer for that. I don’t think anyone makes one that big. Send me a message on Etsy or Instagram.

Awesome, this is gonna be a fun winter project for me i think. Love the video.
Is it necessary to make a new trunk? Can’t you just use the oem plus the 3d printed piece?

Still waiting for part 3!!!
New video just went up!
Wow, subbed
is it possible to buy the 3d file as one piece (trunk plus hardtop) and how big would my 3d printer need to be

How much did the final product way after the addition of fiberglass?
I’ll weigh it after I get the windows mounted in the next video
