Absolutely phenomenal! I've been moulding and casting for years (although in the prop making industry, where quick and dirty is the order of the day) and I have never seen such neat and meticulous work. TOW is a master craftsman. I learn so much from these videos. Much respect!
Thanks mate! There's always a time and place for quick and dirty moulds too, ones with packing tape repairs and where you just coat the thing in PVA and cross your fingers but I usually point the camera the other way for those ones haha.
I'm blown away by your methods and attention to detail! I know a custom build is in my future and your channel has been an excellent resource for techniques and an efficient workflow. Thank you for all your hard work, and keep it up!
My gel coat to start trying to make some of my own parts came in. I'm super excited. Thanks for the knowledge and motivation to try it out! I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE AMD TAKEN VIDEO OF AND SHARED FOR FREE!
Sometimes I get so memorized by watching you work, I forget to read the captions! Which is really saying something, because I watch everything with captions
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this video. It was really fun and interesting to watch, and I learned lots. Clearly a lot of time goes into moulding even a single panel, particularly when it's done as meticulously as this!
I’m speechless… The level of detail and quality of your work is awesome. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to put out these videos. I look forward to your future content and I’m sure others do as well! Much appreciated. 🔥🔥🔥
As an audio engineer, we always say half the mix is done during the recordings (1st stage). So what TOW is doing now means after casting it's straight prep for paint. There will be nothing to fill or correct. Best way, great job bro, love it. If it was possible I'd like you wing my car!
Yay this might finally mean the end of the "imagine using that much bog in a panel..." Etc comments from those who still haven't figured out it's all narrated via subtitles lol
You easily have 1000 times the patience I have, very happy watching the series you are meticulous and it will show at the end. Look forward to the next episode. What's next seeing as the miata roof seemed only weeks before you started this!
Serious props on progress per video and your schedule. Just got back into editing and forgot the amount of mindless hours it can consume. Great to watch a perfectionist with a vision, keep it goin!
Thanks man. There's a tonne of other amazing channels out there, if you haven't already, check out Street Bandito and Easy Composites. Half of what I know I learned from those 2 channels alone. ✌
Haha, yeah a lot of trial and error. I've done coreflute, signboard, polycarb, tin, and even made my own flanges out of fiberglass before for some really tricky shapes, cardboard is surprisingly good if you're spraying a sealer over it.
I tried once to fiberglass a little piece and that was a nightmare 🤣🤣(to do, and because the resin never wanted to turn in the solid state...😵💫 ) Your work is impressive !! A pleasure to watch !!! From France :D
If anyone ever looks at the price of a decent bodykit and thinks it’s outrageous, especially from a small company. They should watch your vids to truly appreciate the work and time that goes into making them, after all this is essentially the prep work stage of developing the kit and you’ve already invested so much time and effort. In short when it comes to pricing up the complete kit don’t undervalue yourself.
Awesome work, I need to make a lot of molds for a future project, have watched a lot of videos on the process. I really like the gap filler instead of body filler, much easier to work with. Bloody crazy how many hours goes into making a perfect part, and then the amount of hours to make a mold off that part.
That's what I like to hear mate. I'll have more videos specifically on making the widebody for this one as well so that should be pretty helpful too. 👍
Awesome. Your miata is how I found ya a while back was looking at some diy widebody stuff and it popped up. Definitely 2 amazing builds. A stagea is definitely a car I wish and hope to one day get but import cost to the states are so high.
I'll never use wax and PVA together as i have had so many problems with them reacting. There's some waxes that work better with PVA, but my two cents is, if you put minimum of 5 coats wax (miracle gloss i guess is some as mirror glaze by meguairs says IIRC 6 layers first time) you don't need PVA. On fast pulls and couple of products done, i've used only PVA sprayed on couple layers. But I gotta say, i like your style on laminates, getting the mat wet first and then brushing it shape. Keep up the good work.
I'm a similar way. I don't really use PVA anymore because of how much of a pain it is to deal with, but I figured for the sake of this video is was best to show people the most fool proof way of tackling a mould. I'll always recommend PVA over wax when making a pattern off a plug because you never quite know how the paint on the plug will respond to the gelcoat. However when I'm making parts from completed moulds I usually just skip the PVA step. There are also alternatives like easylease or frekote that I'd recommend but those are much more expensive than PVA and I wanted to show a more entry level video for people just starting out.
Another brilliant, concise and informative video. 👏 thanks for the video. Ill be attempting to make completly one off body work for a motorcye im building towards the end of the year so i appreciatte the info.
It looks pretty nice but could you explain to me how to create the mold by using the existing fender and created your mold or do you use foam or anything like that to create
Long time but maybe you will see this, so when you put matt over , what is the difference between body filler and using gelcoat? What would i do if after resin + matt i notice i have some slight imperfections , would i do gelcoat anyway then body fill> paint or i would do body filler and gelcoat over and paint ?
Mine actually just died, had it for about 4 years and used it pretty often. Ryobi are probably the best DIY level tools, perfect if your doing the odd bit of work but if you plan on using it as a workhorse nearly every day then it's worth going for the Makita. I prefer using the ryobi one over my air powered one.
I like that it's just showing us how to do , and not a bunch of b-roll and talking to the camera .
Absolutely phenomenal! I've been moulding and casting for years (although in the prop making industry, where quick and dirty is the order of the day) and I have never seen such neat and meticulous work. TOW is a master craftsman. I learn so much from these videos. Much respect!

While i was watching this video, i found i was saying WOW constantly at your meticulous work.. Was an absolute privilege to watch.
Perfect way to start the Sunday, excellent work 👍
Excellent craftsmanship! So enjoyable to watch the master.
this car is gonna look sick when its done!
You're videos are so chill and awesome to watch. Love the process.

when it all finally starts to pay off stage,,,,your work is next level my friend,,,thanks for sharing 👍

You are an amazing communicator! Explaining an entire process without saying a word!

Thanks for a new session of car healing therapy. OEM legit +😎💪
It's getting better and better.
Thank you for letting us know what it takes to do this at all.
Great job sir, I’ve dabbled with mold making and enjoyed watching someone else going through the process. Now to watch episode 2 👍

Oh I reckon I'll still get those almost constantly even after this build is finished haha 😂
Imagine using this much fiberglass in a mould tho

attention to detail is crazy, even marked down how many coats of release agent. I learned alot.

Sanding fiberglass and blowing the dust everywhere in your shop while wearing a tank top is the most gangster sh!t I’ve seen all day.
What a fascinating process! Good work!! 👍
WHAT a CRAZY Job!!!!! Thank you very much for sharing your methods and your tricks!!!!
I wanted to argue with your flanges but it looks like they worked out great. That's some serious cardboard you've got there ;)

Hell yeah! Coming along nicely
this something I've been wanting to do on my car for ages, make a carbon fibre bonnet and front fenders
1. Just seen NZ on TV here in the USA. They fined a British couple at the airport $400 for the banana🤯
2. Awesome video, I appreciated the subtitles

You should definetoy either sell the moulds after all this or make fenders periodically and sell those!
Just an idea…
I'll be selling the entire kit for this car when it's complete. I'm also looking at having them produced in the US for my international customers.
Agreed. Make a 'plug/ mould' from your originals and use some PVA or release agent to pop em off. 👍
Painting and polishing cardboard :) nice
You gotta admit it looks good though, even if it is just a plug
if you are trying to get the best surface finish use a coupling foam pad between your sander & paper on your last go round.
