    Great build! Stumbled across the files for this on Etsy and then searched RUclips for 3d printed hardtops. Would love to try it but I think I would make a disaster of it! Another reason to maybe buy a 3d printer…

      It’s not as hard as you think! You can always just wrap both side of the print in fiberglass for a cheaper easier solution. If you don’t plan on making more than one this is the way to go.

    Dude it looks so good. Would you be able to make a hard top for a Porsche Boxster 986 like a Porsche Cayman?

    I want to build a hardtop myself, but can't find carbon fiber fabric large enough to do it in 1 sheet with 3 layers

    Now that you have molds will you be willing to pop out some more in frp or fiber?

    • @HutchinsRacing
      @HutchinsRacing  Год назад +2

      I’m not super happy with the way the molds turned out so I threw them away. I’m working on a version 2 right now and hoping for better results this go around.

    Hey I'm just curious, can you keep the soft top installed with this? And you mentioned a version 2

    • @HutchinsRacing
      @HutchinsRacing  Год назад +1

      Yes you can keep the soft top on. You can follow me on instagram for updates on the new version.

    Where do you get the carbon fiber fabric and fiberglass sheets from, in larger than 6 inch by 12 foot?

    • @HutchinsRacing

      Composite envisions or fiberglast

    whats the sound like in there? (highway specifically)

    • @HutchinsRacing
      @HutchinsRacing  Год назад +1

      It’s just a tad quieter than the soft top. (Which isn’t saying much) I think I can improve it on my next one.

    While I appreciate the time, effort, and skill, involved in designing and building this..... You've completely ruined the lines of the car, and made it ugly AF. There's just no angle from which this doesn't look clunky, and like something General motors would market (Ala the AZTEK).... Not everyone will agree with me, and that's fine. Opinions are like assholes, etc, etc.

      Nah, with a duck tail and proper fitment with some 15×9s this would look sick. Hell even just lowered it would look good, but it'd look a lot better with all of that and every other panel either being carbon fiber or having an overpanel (since the rear quarters are technically structural so that's difficult to do) that's carbon fiber. CF is kinda all or nothing to me; save all the weight or it looks wonky.
