    This hurts my soul on how neglected this car was. I just did my water pump, pulleys, tensioner and belts on my 2011 550i. I approached mines differently by removing the fan and it gave me excellent accessibility. Good job!

    Tons of room to work with. Still a great vid

      So just literally remove the fan and you'll have direct access to the waterpump, but also having to loosen the tensioner correct? Just asking because my pump went out yesterday. I had to keep filling up with coolant but the car not once overheated.

    Great video for people looking into doing this job
    Replace your thermostat to 90° from original 105°
    Why? Well N63 engine is already running hot by installing 90° thermostat your engine will run cooler 👍🏻

      Yes, but it could throw a code with the lower t-stat which ECS T_ning acknowledged and as I've also read elsewhere. So, you must code it out. Has this happened to anyone or can anyone else confirm/deny such?

    Just subscribed, great videos man! You can also drain the air from the cooling system by turning the ignition to ON - Car Off and turning the heat on max, hold the gas pedal down for like 10 seconds. You will hear the pumps turn on to circulate the air out of the lines - while engine is off.

      @shawntran9454 I've done this same method mentioned above successfully on a 14' 650i and a 13' 535i, not sure on other models.

      @Chaos1187me thank you! I've done multiple times with my 07 525xi and 08 x3, but I had no luck with 2011x5 50i. I guess I have to use the method that he used in the video. Thanks for the reply.

      @Chaos1187me figured it out..for people that have the same model as mine....they are 2 water pumps... auxiliary " electric" pump for the turbos, and the main pump is belt/pulley driven pump.

    Thank you Francisco, I have 42K on my 2011 550i, I am thinking about replacing the water pump, thermostat and belts as preventive maintenance. Sure looks challenging. How often do they fail on the n63/s63 engines? Thank you for the great how-to video!

    How did you get the bolt of where the pump meets the alloy pipe in the driver side? I just saw you pri it, but there's a T30 bolt there.

    • @hyeprofile
      @hyeprofile 3 года назад

      Yeah in the video he fast-forwards the part where he unclips and removes the lower rubber hose on the driver side of the water pump, and while it's fast forwarding at around ruclips.net/video/e2qeqDvk--s/видео.html you can see him remove that bolt holding the top metal tube into the water pump before trying to pry that tube out. In the end he actually removed the whole water pump before being able to pry that tube out...

      If you want to do it from the top without jacking up the car, then yes you need to remove the small coolant reservoir above the alternator to gain access. Otherwise you can jack the car up and do it from the bottom.
