  • This video shows how I changed the serpentine and AC belt on the 2011 n63 x5 50i. Only removed the fan and unscrewed the turbo coolant expansion tank to access the alternator pulley.

Helpful video. One thing I didn't see: the tensioner should have an option for a 3mm pin to lock it in place so you don't need to hold tension while installing.

I did not install a new tensioner that does come with the pin. It was fast to just install the belt with the pulley bar than spend time looking for a nail to stick into the slot to hold it. If the tensioner were being replaced, then I would have definitely used the already supplied pin.

@@matreyia Supplied pin ? Where is the supplied pin located?

@@ValuableShort Every new unit comes with a pin already in place. If you don't see it, then it's fake or not new.

I installed the belt but now I cant get the screws to align? They did't effortlessly screw back in like they did for you. Any advice?

You lost me using the t60 mm. You put it in the hole and “push it that way”? What do you mean? Do I just push side ways? do I twist? Please help

2k for my mechanic to change the ac compresser and belt and recharge the ac, the compressor is still moving but he thinks its probably stuck enough where it needs a new one etc, ugh... is it worth it to just try changing the belt? just some labor time. Whats the worst that can happen the belt squeeks and breaks again? tia

    • @bmwchannel7209

If the old belt broke because of your compressor stuck, then change the compressor. If the belt is still on and the compressor still works then there is no problem. If the belt is old and slipping or damaged, then change the belt.

Did the exact same thing ! Liked the video but now my A/C belts squeak a bit when cold engine.. any ideas?

You replaced your AC and it squeaks? That doesn't sound right at all. New belt should be dead quiet.

do you have video how to replace valve cover gasket for same vehicle?

I have not done a valve cover replacement but I bet it's pretty involved due to all the stuff that is in the way. fuel lines, injectors etc...
