Totally agree about Swarming It is magical I am 3rd Generation Bee Keeper I have been treatment free for 23 years now and always have plenty of empty hives for my bees to swarm into naturally. There is only one thing as good as the sound of a swarm and that is the sight of them all marching in.
If you you treat them with kindness and respect the Bees will never leave your land. Obviously have to have the forage for them aswell. The only time I would tell people not to let them swarm is if they have close neighbors or very small gardens that will not support the expansion.

Love watching swarms. Winter of 21-22 I lost all my hives like 6-5 hives. Said I was done, didn't have time. Kept saying how much I missed them. God heard me and had other plans. I did not clean up the bee yard, and hives last year, life got in the way. Yesterday I was out in the garden and saw bees around one hive. Then did a walk around and saw bees at another hive. Inspected last night one hive even had capped brood, the other one had just eggs. Decided if God wants me to do this might of well add another hive. So this morning I went and bought a nuc and have placed it. Now back to walking the yard and watching the bees. Want to prepare another hive for swarms. Bees are swarming like crazy here. A neighbor caught a swarm last week. Love all your videos and always learn something new.

    I love swarms!
Yesterday my wife asked me why a crow was squawking so loudly. So I looked in the direction of the crow and started listening. Something was different in the sound coming from my apiary. I went to investigate and found a swarm hanging in a tree. I used the as you call it the walk down method too. I didn't have the clean frames like you. I had a dead out with stinky frames so 5 of the 8 frames had to be scraped. I have 5 freshly waxed frames today. Because I charged am Amish beekeeper 5 frames as a fee for hauling bee supplies.

@@TheHoneystead I both love and hate swarms. Love them because they are so cool and hate them because they scare people who don't understand them. Like the new in California last week where a guy invaded a large hive resulting in very defensive behavior and swarm like skies. The idiot made them defensive by ripping the hive apart in a building, then the media made it seem like this was normal bee behavior when they swarm. All of the swarms I have capture have been so mellow except for the number of bees flying around. I am constantly trying to educate people on bee behavior, and it is an uphill battle when the stupid media published bad information...
      Love your videos!

Wow, what an amazing video. I want bees for the many benefits they provide. Pollinating my orchard, berries, garden and flowers. I also am excited about the honey, bees wax and propolis. I have bear that already tore up my neighbor's hives. Also I am highly allergic to bees so your video on what I would have to do freaked me out and I have changed my mind. 😵‍💫 It brings me back to the day I cut down a tree with a hive and was stung more than 60 times and almost died. That's when I became highly allergic. So no thanks, unfortunately I am going to have to pass but I sure admire you for what you do. 🥰

After seeing that technique , I was thinking , perhaps we could make a device that screws , or clamps to the tree limb in two places, then it would have an arm like a robot arm that would hold the frame for you, you would the. Move the arm to the bees in position , lock it in place ,let them walk on in their own time and go collect the frame , load another one and keep doing it.
This would allow you to stand back and and reduce the risk on the ladder and the stress of holding the frame to the bees.
Just an idea, I could build such. Device to do that.
