    Hive tool cleaning, use rubbing alcohol, it works great! No hard scrubbing, just put some alcohol on the tool and use another tool to just scrape it off! Done, super easy! Try it out if you haven't!

    My bees were like this a couple weeks ago. I was told it's because it's July. This was normal for July. Is there really 70,000 bees in the hive this time of year? That's crazy!! Mine were not happy when I checked on them. I have been giving them water on my back porch for about a month now!! Boy do they love to explore. I love them so much. Just to have them around.

    We don’t keep bees, but wouldn’t mind planting flowers for them. What would be some of the best (no maintenance) kinds of flowers to plant? On 2 acres of our property, it would be beautiful to see flowers growing….instead of my 69yr old husband mowing in the hot sun for 2hrs! Weigh the differences, now I’ll have to get him on my side…the flowers would also benefit the hummingbirds around here.🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

      I don't keep bees either, yet. But I try to plant a many flowers as I can! I try to go for the perennials. Less expensive over time and less maintenance! I also plant flowers that bloom at different times of the year. Hope that helps! Many blissings! 💛

    I had a hive get a little out of control when I was harvesting honey recently. When reviewing the video, I realized I must have crushed a bee, setting off the alarm pheromone--they were a little testy to begin with, but there was a distinct moment when they started dinging me and the camera. Thankfully no robbing, though! Robbing can be such a hectic situation!

    • @happy_times01
      @happy_times01 5 месяцев назад

      What does robbing mean??

    • @GrowCookPreserveWithKellyDawn
      @GrowCookPreserveWithKellyDawn 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@happy_times01 Honeybee robbing occurs when bees from one colony attempt to steal honey, pollen, or other resources from another colony. It typically happens when food sources become scarce, such as during times of dearth or when weaker colonies are unable to defend their hives effectively. Robbing behavior can lead to significant disruption, stress, and damage to the affected colonies if not addressed promptly. Here's a video of one of my hives getting robbed. ruclips.net/user/shortsnyFMGMtgTiU?si=Kjn23cDmen1dOy8U

It turns out I get more pollinators than my friends who live on the edge of the city. I think the reason is that none of my neighbors use herbicides or pesticides

I live in a city and am kind of thinking about getting a hive, but it seems things can get out of control in a hurry if you don't know what you're doing. Always learn something from your videos.
