I will restore this Sega mega drive Console 16 bit which won't work and is dirty to brand new condition. Sega released the mega drive nearly 33 years ago.

Really enjoyed watching the restoration, was a bit concerned about the wire connected to the underside that got submerged in water though
I'm using isopropyl alcohol and a PCB spray cleaner (A specialist fast drying contact cleaner applied through a smart straw. Quick penetrating non -conductive formulation which is fast evaporating and leaves no residue. Cleans oil, dirt, flux residue, and condensation from sensitive electronics and electrical equipment.).

Great work! What percentage of IPA are you using? And what is the name of the PCB spray cleaner?
Also when you spray the PCB spray cleaner, I did notice some residue still on the brown PCB at 10:20. Did you end up wiping that off or are you supposed to keep it on there?
Finally, I see the nitrile gloves. I’m gonna guess those are the extra durable variety. It’s a shame they tore (they tend to do that for me no matter what I do). Besides the gloves, are you making any effort to ground yourself in order to not cause ESD?

Isopropanol is a very good solution to strip dirt like sweat, dust, nasty food stains etc. I use it all the time. Also for second hand records and cd's (mixed with water). Only be careful with it, because it's also able to lift paint on devices apparently. I had a radio, on which I used alcohol, but at one side the paint became lighter (don't know the exact English word for it).

ещё логотип расположен далеко от правого угла, у меня есть оригинал VA5 и ещё в инете чекал все версии MD 1, они отличаются только TM у лога Сeги

I cried watching this because my brother gave me a Sega Genesis when I was younger and I put SO MANY hours into that console to include Urban Strike, Sonic Spinball, and Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure. I always meant to go back to my mom's house to get it, but I joined the military and I moved around too much. But one year i went home and I tried to find it to play it and I was told that my nephew sold all of my old consoles (Sega Genesis, NES, N64) and all the games with it. I know I can buy them again if I search but they weren't the consoles I grew up with and it just honestly makes me sad when I get reminded of it.
But swell job; I always enjoy these videos for the nostalgia. One day I'll actually make those purchaes so I can have my old consoles back. I know emulators exists, but nothing beats the systems with cartriges for me.

Oh yeah, I've opened enough of these to know the innards don't look right. At least it uses (or least what look like) real Z80 and 68k chips.

besides the fact that it is a clone, as others have already written, 2 upper housings are used here. with the actual one you can't even remove the outer decorative ring. otherwise a 5-pin din socket is installed in the clone, an original mega drive has an 8-pin version for rgb output.
Watching things get cleaned relaxes me.
The inscription "16-BIT" must be gold! Golden it by "Molotov" gold metallic pen.

It's because we only had this version in north America, I have a Mega EVERDRIVE x5 and I can run International superstar soccer Dexule on my North American SEGA GENESIS without problem... I'm from Mexico btw
Peru hackers where the BEST 16-bit modders around, back then. They hacked many soccer games and localized them for local and regional tournaments.

The motherboard seems not original. I never saw a japanese or euro or usa version of megadrive With 2 pieces of motherboard. Are you sure is real and not a clone??? 🤔

Not exactly a restoration, but the mere fact of rescuing an old console is heart warming. You should have given the console a good layer of silicone as a final touch, though.

Not a real mega drive it’s actually a clone…
Maybe a hardware clone not a NOAC clone or GOAC "genesis on a chip" clone, it does have the Mega CD expansion slot, most Mega Drive/Genesis clones don't have that.

Odd that the previous owner used this megadrive to dig the garden.
At first looked to be a japanese Mega Drive but the rf on the back gave it away, is a clone for sure but doesnt seem to be of bad quality like some sh*t sold on aliexpress.

У маэстро во время мойки с корпуса исчезли царапины, восстановилась надорванная наклейка. А ещё приставка стала выдавать картинку со сглаживанием как в эмуляторе.

This Mega Drive is a bootleg fake probably made in China or Brazil I've opened up quite a few real Mega drives and inside a real Mega Drive the mother board is one piece not 2 pieces and for all that dirt that looks like it got wet there's no water damage no corrosion to the screws or any of the circuitry which water damage would be the only way the dirt could get in there like that it is a staged repair doesn't even show him switching it back on towards the end of the video oh how unfortunate it is for the man who made this video that I'm an expert at video game console repair vintage and new

Thank goodness there wasn't more screws to remove from the case, it might have doubled the length of the video. We get the idea after seeing one being removed.

I was 10 years old when I got my Sega Megadrive.... damn those times were good! Still playing all the Sonic games today (1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles (2+3) and also Intl. Super Star Soccer Deluxe.
Now emulated, but I still have all the 90's consoles.
Definitely a sad situation for collectors! 5 years ago I started collecting for the MD/Genesis and Saturn but just for games that I like or played in my childhood. In theses 5 years the prices exploded. For example I payed for a complete copy of Streets of Rage 60€ in 2019, now the price is arround 200€. For games that are very rare I have a sort of comprehension but not for these that were big sellers in the past! I will not pay 120€+ for Turtles HH. To regulate this market it would be helpful that collectors set their own price limits down and don't buy overpriced games!
