I’ve never own that gaming system but watching you restore it and seeing those graphics brought back memories that will last a lifetime.Awesome display of talent.Thank you.
For those who don't understand why MANY people prefer the original console to modern emulators, its nostalgia. If you have fond memories playing this console as a child, nothing but an original console will do. It's a great feeling to relive happier times.🥰🥰🥰
Also accuracy too! Not all emulators are accurate even though they have come a long way nothing beats playing it on the original console for its designed purpose. Pure nostalgia👌 💯🙌

I went back to my childhood :( Sometimes, all I wish is to go back to the past to experience life as a child again. Quite often I find myself lost in the past traveling through the times when I just rejoiced every single moment without thinking of what lies ahead. I just wish I had some superpower to do the time travel.
What a blast from the past. Next and modern day gaming is awesome, but it's not THIS. I was 11 boy again watching excite bike and Mario bros. I must just say thank you. I've been watching a good few channels and videos over the last few weeks cleaning and restoring consoles (Xbox 360 more specifically) and having discovered your channel, I finally decided to take the plunge and open up my console for the first time after 12 years. What a personal achievement it was for me, considering that it all panned out well. Watching your videos inspired the confidence I needed to do it. So thank you. 👍🏻
Something is off in this video, Console which he restore is PAL, in the end he tested with NTSC games cause PAL console suppose to run slower also have black bars on top and bottom
@@gamedoutgamer It was almost certainly emulation. I'm sure he had his reasons, but it was played off as the NES he just restored. I suspect the final product had a power issue since the LED was cut off from the frame.
Interesting!! I don’t think I ever noticed the edge finger contacts as HASL (hot air solder level). I thought they were always hard gold to withstand inserting multiple times.
Did you buy the cartridge input thing, or clean up the old one? I think that is where ours has a problem. Sometimes it worked, other times not. Now not working at all.
You were very intentionally avoiding showing that it was a modded nes for some reason. It had a standard nintendo composite or s video jack installed in the rear. Also, it was pretty cool watching you somehow play it with left and right audio cables installed, and no video cable plugged in. Neat trick. 😂 🧐
I think it should still work. The cable ends are just color coded so you don't cross-wire them. But inside the cable is still the same [probably] stranded aluminum. That said, the gameplay video is still staged.
As someone who repairs electronits fro a living I’m skeptical on how there was 0 PCB damage despite the rusty EMI shield, nor were the bottom screws even slightly rusty, something that happens as the water or humidity is affected by gravity.
I think this video is fake, mainly due to the gameplay demo. There is no way composite looks that clean, alongside the fact that there is integer scaling on an HDTV, which unless using an external upscaler wouldn't be the case normally.
You marbled the plastic case with the peroxide cream treatment. It looked bad after you de-yellowed it. You're supposed to massage the peroxide cream every 15 minutes or so and also make sure it doesn't dry out. It looked dried at the end. Even better just put it out in strong sunlight to remove yellowing. The broken plastic 'toothpick' fix looked bad. The gameplay at the end looked very emulated and not real. Like how you used power tools to clean the rust off the metal parts but it would have looked nicer if those surfaces were polished to a 'like new' finish. Now the rust will return because of how the metal brushes scratch the surface. 2/10 restoration.
Cool! Got two PAL NES consoles, one in cosmetic bad-shape and the other one broken. Thinking of using the best parts for the project. Brand new connector will be installed aswell. Never thought about the yellowing of the plastic until I saw your video...but yep that is definitely an issue on both of the consoles. Need to learn more about this, seems to be a elaborate process? Great video and thank you for the inspiration to bring back this beast from the past!
@@ami2evil there are millions of consoles… this guy cant fix them all. The product to remove the yellow tint isn’t a secret. There are many products that will do it. Retro-brite is probably the most popular.
@@ami2evil I’ve done it before. Not really hateful. It really does work well and doesn’t require much prep will take the yellow right out of any plastic and bring it back to New. If you don’t have access to UV lights You can leave it out in the sun for four hours or so it works just as well.
It was almost 100 percent but I seen some flaws like the bottom grill on the one side and u left some salon care in the grates on top u should have cleaned out also u could have made the top grated inside but over all good job on the motherboard

theres a few other methods that i would have done to fix this vs sand paper a dremel retro brighting and replacing the front loader. but over all not a bad restoration.
I like how the video signal (yellow) cable isn't hooked up to the monitor, makes me wonder how you are getting the signal...or you are using an emulator.
I dont know what kind of NES my parents bought in 90s, but it had many games already intergrated in console, i didnt had diskettes that need you need to put in console in order to play, so strange.
You really need to build yourself a 'bath' of hydrogen peroxide fluid that can be reused and reused, many times. The amount of money you must be spending on single-use-only h/p cream must be insane.
amazing work !! I have the original console since 1991 in the year 2000, bored, I opened the console to break a pin, I think it is between the fourth and seventh of the zone control chip to remove the NTSC lock to run 2 games in PAL that I had from France that I could never play because I'm from another country (zelda and metroid), and it works. review this information. greetings from Chile
