If you would put aside the name Leica and her history, and simply treat this lens to be a separate lens maker, you will have a very good time using this lens. I have been using both the brass version and the titanium for a couple of days, both are of very VERY high quality and with consistent rendering. This lens does not feel generic nor cheap, instead I'd dare say it feels "luxurious", a solid proper piece of photographic tool.
IMO this Light Lens Lab from China performs very similar to the Leitz Summicron 35/2, it renders a subtle glow at wide open f2, most of the images in this video were mostly in f4.
I'll be replacing my regular Summaron 35/3.5 with this Titanium Chinese copy of a Summicron 8 element. It's really that good.

I read somewhere that the Light Lens Lab design and parts were intentionally produced with a slightly off measurement/tolerance, so that their lens/parts cannot be interchanged with the authentic Leica lens' parts. If this is true, then kudos to Light Lens Lab for that.
an article from JCH mentioned Light Lens is made 1mm larger to avoid becoming a replacement part for the original Summicron.

I’ve owned my copy for four months or so and I think it’s just a delightful lens. Of the Chinese offerings it’s the first one to make me feel something when I use it. The images it produces are distinctive and full of character.
Who is Light Lens Lab? Honest question. We don’t know anything about them. Who is the owner? Where are their offices? Where at their manufacturing facilities? Where is their official address? The phone number on the website is a house in a Toronto neighborhood with a minivan parked in front. And why is the new 35f1.4AA that they’re developing being tested in South Korea? Are those even real photos of the lens. Or just random South Korea photos? I’m so confused by this company. Based in Toronto, made in China and tested in South Korea. “Founded by Mr Zhou in China” says the website. 😅
your content is great, thank you
Due to soft coatings & their age related issues, I went through four Original Leitz 8-Element units and settled on one treasured unit.
Rarely mentioned & very unique; the lens has Sine-Wave depth of field. Pretty amazing...
Looks like a gorgeous rendering lens. At $1000 of course it is not "cheap" but it is a good value and comparatively almost free :-)
Second time watching this one mate. Really considering this as my 35 every day lens !!!!
Another great one. Thank you.
Hi,
I have a LLL 35/2 and it is excellent.
I notice a very small amount of play, movement, in the focus ring. It is quite hard to notice but when you do, you do! I asked on a forum and others had not noticed but when I pointed it out they had it. It’s not a super bad thing but I would like to know if yours has it? But even more than that does your original Leica 8- element have a tiny amount of movement in the focus ring?
It was suggested that it might be an age thing, as they age they get looser. I think you have hard yours for a while?
And thanks for your channel in general - I really enjoy your videos.
You have a nice radio voice.
Victor I gotta have this lens it looks killer!
wish you shot it with color as well to really see what it can do
still have yet to find a good color images with this lens
can you share the weight of the titanium version?
thank you
lens alone 201g, with filter and hood, 249g
@@barton1972 thank you very much
The Voigtländer 35mm f2 Ultron is fucking amazing for $600 to $700.
Wash your mouth with soap.

Sounds like Light Lens Lab has not only reproduced nice copies of Leica lenses but has also copied Leica's business model of offering limited quantities at high prices. Plus, maybe as long as they only sell in China, they are safe from legal action from Leica.
putting aside the legal issues, this is an amazing lens, I just hope the flippers won't jack up the price to a ridiculous level
They are only making replicas of old models, those patents have already been expired decades ago. As long as they don't use the Leica brand, they should be ok with legal issues.
