I love Kai and Dan's interactions, the humor is dryer than the Sahara and I love it.
I love this particular style of vlog-ish review. Smooth but homely, genuinely engaging, and informative!
If they are not currently making the original lens, it's not a knock off. It's a homage to a once made lens.
Despite owning a 35 LUX, the LLL is my everyday carry - it is smaller, lighter, and the images, due to the leaded glass, are sublime. I never used an original 8 element, because as you point out, they are either too much money or in terrible condition, but the LLL produces a rich vintage look and that glow you cannot get from a modern lens. I also own the Elcan they have reproduced - and it is also great - but also announced as discontinued.
I have the LLL 50mm as my everyday lens.
What ultimately made me decide to go with LLL, getting a brand new lens haze and fungus free. They add character to your photo. Not to mention a fraction of the price for a vintage lens that don’t guarantee they will be in good condition.
Don’t sleep on this brand.

for a minute I thought this was about the 8 element 50mm f1.4 Takumar.
Which is quite dear for an M42 lens at a extremely common focal length, and doesn't even look as cool as the 35mm f2.3.

Been looking at LLL for a bit now...they are on to something...have some really amazing lenses. I've never really looked at non native lenses besides Voigt. but... LLL has made the short list.

Would highly recommend the Panasonic S5 II. If you’re looking to get new lenses anyways, I think it’s the best hybrid camera for the money right now.
sony a7iv or a7iii are more than fine, i implore you you don't need an r5 or r3 or a7r v for 50% of what you're doing
From the back of the camera, Nikon lenses are right handed. (To the right to mount, to the left to remove.) I usually stand behind my camera, so it seems OK.
You are right. Regardless of right-handed or left-handed-ness, it's because that's how Contact did it.
Oh, and I sold my 8-element and got the Voigtlander Ultron2, which is almost the exact form factor of the 8-element. A bit more modern. A bit more contrasty. A bit sharper. And a fistful of money I used to help buy an M10-R.

The z fc does a pretty good job considering that's a fairly old sensor reused again. If Nikon hadn't screwed me over with a trade-in where they took my camera body, never paid me, then ghosted me after 2 emails/threw me on hold for over 2 hours so I would hang up, then I would have bought a black z fc and a 28mm to go with. They get 1 point of praise from me; they didn't lock down Z-mount so third-party lens makers couldn't put out solid fast primes for the crop sensor models instead of forcing users to buy the more expensive/bulky full frame glass like some other company that might have pretty colors.
Still bought a black fc eventually, but only after someone I knew bought one on impulse and then sold it to me for a slight discount. I use 2 Voigtlanders with it, the 23 and 35mm f/1.2's for z-mount that have focus confirmation. With some settings tweaks you can get trap focus with it like I use with my Pentax DSLR's and vintage manual lenses. Great setup that I love for some fun shooting, but Nikon should get a 0/5 with the BBB instead of the 1/5 they have/had.
Lesson to learn, register and insure the posting. Then, either the insurance, or Nikon is ponying up the cash. Or be like me. I buy it, and never sell it again. I may give it to my daughter, but I never get rid of.....anything.

i dont think it's a knock off if it's not intended for the original target audience and more importantly, appear many many years later. they didnt try to use the logo, nor try to make it sounds like it's made in the west. i mean, would you call the Ineos 4x4 a knock off?
Just buy a Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC for way cheaper. Same classic look and f/1.4

@@Barrrt the light lens lab has the same "distracting" bokeh. "Bad bokeh" is what makes images look 3d. Go buy a lens with perfect boring bokeh then and have everything look flat.
@@hyprz Thanks for that perspective. I haven't really seen the bokeh yet on the LLL. Since I'm a portrait guy who hates flat images I love me some non-distracting-chaos in the background :P
