Kai’s enthusiasm for the lens melted away smoother than the lens itself. By the end of the video it was just straight up deadpan criticism lmao
Exactly. One of those emperor has no clothes moments.
Kai's hairstyle going full retro to match the review lens is 200% dedication.
So fun! Love this one!
This is the first lens I've seen that has the 'character' or the 'look'. If I could afford it, I would get it for sure. Fantastic photographs! ❤
I am not even into photography that much, when i was a kid i was watching you on DigitalRev TV and nostalgy hits real hard when i see your videos.
Reminds me of the older Fujifilm X 1.4 glass. Has that soft sharp look. Examples: 23 1.4, 56 1.2 R. 35 1.4 R, whereas the newer version of those lenses got extremely sharp. There is something about using lenses that take off that digital bite.
Kai’s hat is dopeee 🔥
It does look classic! It reminds me of those 35mm kodak film cameras rendition!
For the L-mount, I would suggest the Sigma 45mm DGDN. It has a beautiful softness when close focusing wide-open, similar to the effect at 5:15
Liking the Pentax hat👍
I tend to buy vintage lenses now to get 'the look' ive got a 'Cooke' lens a Meyer Optics Gorlitz 50mm f2.8 cheap to buy but an excellent lens👍
Have had my eye on an Elcan for sometime now and just need to pull the trigger.. Thanks guys...
This amount of vids is great! MORE! ;)
Nice hat at the beginning Kai, I approve of the choice.
great, never heard of those lenses, very nice video as ever, keep on!
I have the Elcan, LLL 35mm, and now I can’t wait to get home to try the Panchro. My wife just texted me a photo of the LLL box which just arrived in the Post. The LLL lenses are well built and have character. I have a handful of 35s and 50s that strive for perfection, but I think Kai is right. Buy a lens for which you like the the photos they produce, not MTF charts.🎉
Yes and the bokeh seems okay
Love it!
damn it Kai, you made me want to get one myself now. Another lens i don't need (but want!)
JLC reverso i see on your wrist?
I was interested in this lens when it was first announced, but now seeing actual results that interest has gone. It seems people are convincing themselves it is great, but if they saw the same results from other lenses they’d pass on those lenses. It does not give the ‘Cooke look’. It does give a softer, hazier image. Also it has serious internal lens central hot spots that start at F8 and get worse the more you stop down. LLL says that is part of the design.
Just buy a pro-mist filter for $50 and save yourself $900. Bonus is you’ll also have a sharp, flare free lens when you don’t use that filter.
Would be interesting if you can compare this with the helios 44-2
I own this lens and it is fantastic. I also own their 35 f2 8 Element lens. I shoot mostly with a Sony A1 and an L mount adapter. Can't say enough good things about Light Lens Lab and their products.
have you tried other vintage glass - curious how it compares
@@heroaomedia I have shot with and own some older Minolta lenses adapted to Sony mount. Light Lens Lab is far better but also much more expensive. I also shoot film on a Nikon F2 and Mamiya RZ67 medium format, and with those I use vintage lenses too but they can't really be compared
Great Cap!
Silly question: What camera strap do you have on your M?
Lok looking fine
I can get to London one day
ok can you pose as a skateboarder with out a skateboard?
have Kai W name on it ! cool
God damn it Kai. Not another 50mm…
❤
🫶
Really a shame they only offer it in M mount.
I'd love to give this a go, but spending this much on a lens,
and having to rely on an adapter as well is not going to happen.
Kai has his name on the lens?! That’s some flex. 😮
yeah... yeah... yeah yeah quotes of the great
You gotta reconnect with Alamby for these type vids.
Hmmmm.....well, this could be a fish out water comedy?
But try pointing the SP lens at a beautiful lady in beautiful surroundings in gentle light, and then it will make more aesthetic sense....
Horses for courses and all that...Matt Osborne's review showed us that. Yours showed us the SP2 can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse, which is I suppose worth knowing...
Wow, i really need this lens... But my wallet and my broken phone says otherwise.
This looks just like a Domiplan
Please use generative Photoshop to put Lok's skateboard into the photos. 🙂 Fun video.
Some clones fail to the extent that they become classics. Unfortunately this Lens doesn’t achieve that rarified level?
At 5:38 you referenced Hamlet, which I love, but incorrectly, which is easy to correct. The line that corresponds with the pose Lok was making is, “Alas, poor Yorick, I knew him Horatio”. Anyways love your content keep it up!
Lok queries Kai "to be or not to be?" and assumes that pose at 5:35. Lok knows his Shakespeare well. Probably, he played Hamlet as a raw youth.
But an actor declaiming his lines pompously could well make grand gestures, more suitable to actually holding up something such as poor Yorick's skull. Indeed Shakespeare himself is often a made a figure of fun through such gestures.
Last.
Testing a vintage lens on a blanked out lumix I see… why even blank the camera body, when you can still clearly see the name of the maker?
8:29 what's shocking is that they used traditional Chinese instead of simplified crap Chinese.
Kubrick was right, it's all about the lens, man.
I disagree with Lock. Lok, Log? Donno. A good vintage lens will have a consist look. A perfect lens with diffusion just looks weird.
how does kai have the money to splurge on leica :o
Kai is millionaire,he can have two Leicas
@@boroch2563 ye but like how tho. Is it sponsorships?
Sounds like they are trying to copy Voigtlander.😂😂😂
nice cap
first and last and always.....
Calling it classical or vintage, or now even "cooke panchro" won't hide the engineering imperfection. Soft doesn't mean pleasing. Not worth it at all imho.
First ! 🎉😂
Two firsts?
Chubby cheeks
first
Two firsts?
@@KaiManWong ong i was first (give me a camera)
cool. a giant waste of money, then.
Chinese made? I feel the lens gonna have copycat soon
looks terrible
Lok looks like a red Communist, classic inland CCP of passed era. Now there is a Communist Lok Look.
