Late night I was watching videos and having a few drinks. Woke up in the am with an order confirmation for this lens... When I got this lens, I was not expecting much. Lo and behold, I love it! The quality is so good. I have lenses for my M11 that cost many times as much but leave me disappointed. Highly recommend this lens. Beautiful photos!!

It certainly surprised me as well. Hard to find a lens that is unique these days.. Shot it on film on another video with the m6. Please watch if convenient, if not, watch anyway (Sherlock)

Robbie, I just watched this and yes, we do have the same lens, and I can only hope that I can get some photos equaling the brilliance of yours. I need to really focus my time on this lens and get time on the street with it. Thank you for your inspiration!

This isn't the lens for me, but it sure as hell is the lens for you. Those shots are phenomenal! I can't imagine they'd have anything like that particular feel with something vintage "like," such as the Voigtlander Heliar. This lens is just a vintage design and the results speak for themselves. Works perfectly for these night shots where the sun doesn't exaggerate the effect.

Thank you very much. This lens can be a bit over the top sometimes. They do have a few 50s such as the elcan and the 1966 that might suit you better, I’ll try to get my hands on them and do videos on each..
      Thanks for stopping by 🙏🙏

@@robbiesumantri Yeah, their lenses are certainly interesting. I have and use a lot of vintage lenses, but not on Leica. Would be nice to get the rangefinder experience and the classic look that I love.
For now I'm enjoying Voigtlanders, but I definitely want to branch out later.

Voigtlanders are awesome too.. I have a 50mm f1.2 from them lined up for a video, and I personally have the 75mm and 28mm noktons. That 75mm is special..

@@robbiesumantri I was going to get one of the flavors of Leica 90mm, since some are quite cheap.. but I swear I hear about that Voigtlander 75 like every other day lately. Same thing every time, "it's pure magic." Maybe I'll just go full Nokton- 28/50/75. The 50/1.5 is a real sweet spot for size vs performance, and the 75 seems to continue that trend to an even higher degree.

Have you tried this lens on film, I've been looking around for some videos that would show how this lens performs with Portra 400 or 160.

Yes I have but only on a roll of Cinestill 400D. I think it performs really well on film. It is designed for it in the first place.. just watch out for those flares

Each to their own. I get that some like character and swear by vintage artefacts. Me, well I value my less characterful Sony GM primes 24, 35 and 50mm. All fast, relatively compact, uber sharp edge to edge, great oof boker when wanted. Neither approach is right or wrong - just different. Perhaps like analoge film vs a digital sensor. Both have a place. Its relatively easy to add a pseudo character effect, if wanted, in post processing or grunge it up a bit with an appropriate filter at time of capture. But once shot 'grungy' (aka with character) it's hard to near impossible to completely remove.

Absolutely, it’s all about personal preference. The Sony lenses excel in technical performance but this lens offers a different experience. Like I said, it’s a character lens. It isn’t something that I would recommend as “your only lens”.
And while you certainly can get very close with editing, there is a nuance that is impossible to get right. And that for me is where the SELF satisfaction of shooting this lens comes from.
Anyways, thanks for stopping by and commenting.. 🙏🙏
