I get what Jonathan was trying to get at with the question about vows...what constitutes as a marital vow and how to differentiate it from mere confession of love speech. A vow is what will hold you guys down when it gets rough, it determines the trajectory of your lives together in great depth.

Wow...my guy left me some years ago. As he was breaking up with me, (Feb. 14 th)he cried. Said he couldn't do the love thing. 6 months later he got married to someone else! Which didn't last long. I wrote in my bible and prayed to God, to send me someone he created for me. That would love me in the same space of time I loved him. Then to and him to me...this was maybe 2015. He came back to me 2 years ago, apologized for his behavior. Told me how childishly he felt he handled things. Has been working since or be a better man to me, buy us a house and we will be getting married within the next 2 years! ❤🎉😂. I just love your love story...keep doing what your doing. As long as you keep God first and everyone else last, your marriage will be blessed!❤❤

A lot of people don’t get to know each other before marriage, they also don’t truly communicate their wants, their needs or their boundaries. Counseling is also very important. So i was blessed by this podcast n a completely different way than expected. Lately, i have been feeling very depressed, lonely, abandoned and uncared for. I have been feeling like i have no one to run to and like i don't want to burden my friends with the same things over n over. But you both helped me realize this is when I'm supposed to run to the Lord! Thank yall so much for sharing!

I love what Jess said. I was with someone for years and I just never felt sure about him or the relationship and always felt like something just didn’t feel right and I just thought… God isn’t a God of confusion so if things are not clear it’s best to take a step back and reevaluate things

You may not experience anything necessarily that may make your relationship hard. I watch a couple that’s been together 10years and they claim to not have experienced that “Marriage is Hard” feeling. The two are very self aware, selfless and the communication displayed is on point. So don’t expect to experience hardship especially if you guys are conquering them together

Jess I'm literally in the same boat you were in & it's like God told me but hasn't told him 😭 and he keeps telling me that this season has to take place because I'm not going to give you anything broken and it's such a weird situation to be in 😭 I already made the foolish mistake of telling him but hey the Lord will work out the details 😂🙏🏽

That not ugly! I told my husband 2weeks after i met him im going to marry him! I know the Lord spelled it out... I even said i loved him. He looked at me and explained that i loved the way he made me feel... Fast forward weve been together 11 years married for 7!! When the Lord speaks he speaks.

I think the first 2years you’re learning each other remember that word LEARNING. Even if you’re together for 5years and not live together then if you look at it when you are married and living together you will realize that there’s a lot you don’t know about each other.
oh for sure I never thought we were done learning, we will constantly be changing through different seasons in our life so we know there will always be things to learn or re learn about each other as we grow in love
So beautiful i love a couple who always put God first. His vowels where so touching. Hers is beautiful also. Love to see black God fearing couple what a blessing may God continue to bless your marriage forever
But I have come to realize that the first 7 years is the hardest because of what you’ve said; not doing the preliminary work. Most people go into marriage with dishonesty, pretending to be someone they are not, accepting certain things because they want the ring... etc after getting the ring they cut loose; their true self comes out. That is why a lot of people shy away from marriage. People str8 up be concealing the truth in May aspects.

It is interesting you mentioned people saying that they have your address, because literally a few days ago I was thinking of saying to you two, mostly Jess, on her Channel to avoid from announcing when you two will be away from home. Go on your vacation/trip and then come back and share pictures. Please, never share date/time/location on any social media, and with certain people. Please keep information private of when you will be away from home or where you will be traveling to and from. Their should only be a handful of people, those who love and care for you, your safety and well being that are privy to this information. They also say the 7th year is hard but I don't know the truth about that because I was divorced 3 days prior to year 7. And I was happy about it and I told my attorney to make sure it was done before that day. I look back on it and realized that I was acting out of a place of hurt.

I feel you Jonathan, Jess, you wrote those vows when you were in a particular space in your life now you are in another; so today, with your evolution within the past two years, what would your vows be today if you were to rewrite them? Almost like renewing your vows if you were to do it again today, is how I interpreted Jonathan’s question. It seems like you are still content with them. I don’t think Jonathan was saying they were not enough; I remember feeling all mushy when you read them in your wedding video. You put your best foot forward in those vows gurl. I appreciate humor. It fit your happy-love-laughing self.
Hmmm...That is an idea, renewing your vows every number of years as you evolve in your relationship to make it current and to stay above marital challenges.

Not done with the episode yet but man, I struggle with the idea of there not being a “the one”. I’ve noticed a lot
of Christians saying that now and idk how I feel about it. Not saying that anyone’s viewpoint is bad/wrong! I lean both ways in a sense. I feel like you can pray for God’s perfect will for any aspect of your life, so why not a spouse? When He created you, He saw all your days so why not believe for that person he knows I’m going to end up with? But at the same time I’m going through a situation right now (not a relationship thing, just a general life situation) where I do kind of agree with y’all’s POV, which is that there are better and worse choices, and if God is pleased with that choice, He’ll allow it and bless it.
Al in all, I love that you guys give us (your viewers) something to think about. Y’all are killing this podcast thing
