ok ok, you guys were right! it's restored my faith in this franchise, and now I'm actually looking forward to the third installment!

Really happy you enjoyed it! There was also a post-credits scene showing that agent Stone survived the explosion and how the military found coordinates to a secret lab where shadow was been kept this whole time.

Sonic 2 surprisingly is way better than the first one. It has more characters from the games like Tails and Knuckles, Jim Carrey looks more like Dr. Eggman, and it has a ton of references fans will definitely recognize. It even has the guts to put Super Sonic in the movie and make him fight the Eggman robot. It truly feels like playing a Sonic game.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 manages to be a lot more fun than its predecessor. It’s not high art but I just had so much fun seeing these characters handled so well on the big screen. The post credits scene blew me away though, I can’t wait for the next one and see Shadow!

Couple of things to mention for you: Tails knows Sonic mainly as a fanboy even in the early lore.
In Sonic lore Knuckles is able to punch emeralds out of anyone using them. This includes the Master Emerald. Hence why he did it here. C: It was first shown in Sonic 3 the game where Knuckles was able to knock the 7 emeralds out of Super Sonic.

I think I'm the only one not hyped for this . His voice acting in Toy Story 4 and in the video game cyberpunk was atrocious. Love his movies and him as an actor but voice acting isn't his thing .

When Sonic first met Knuckles in the games, he also punched the emeralds out of Sonic’s transformation. His people have a special connection to the Emeralds to negate them.
Sonic in games is a good blend of cocky and mature. The movie version is starting from scratch so he’s more childish by comparison right now.

I’m gonna have to say it. As a big Sonic fan, this is a bad reaction in my opinion. She didn’t even try to admit that Sonic is 15 years old and always likes to joke around like he did in the old days. If they find Sonic being annoying that many times, they’re not real Sonic fans at all no matter what Sonic games they played as a child. They have a lot to learn about the franchise before saying “Sonic is annoying” and for them making fun of Sonic. I’m sorry, but I disagree with what she kept saying about Sonic. It’ll just make me say “Shut the fuck up about him” over and over again and outsmart them. She’s about to make a lot of Sonic fans upset ‘cause of what she said about him.
It’s great that Sonic had a group of new friends Tails and Knuckles to help him out on defeating Dr. Robotnik. So I also love the second chapter better than the first.

As a long time Sonic fan, seeing this in the cinema was fun time as it is indeed miles better than the first film
So far these series of films is far from perfect, but I am still very much excited for the third film as it's gonna adapt a very iconic storyline from the series
Whether it does a good job adapting that story or not, I have no idea, but I am looking forward to it nonetheless

The Sonic agro is severe lol. To be fair I think it has a bit to do with the directing and casting of Ben Schwartz who plays a lot of cocky characters like Dewey in the DuckTales reboot and Leonardo in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they’re almost the exact same as movie Sonic. Only time I have seen Ben out of this typecasting was in Renfield.

Sophie - I am NEVER watching the Sonic sequel. (watches the Megamind sequel, traumatized) Alright, I'm checking out the Sonic sequel)
Anyway all jokes aside, I thought the first movie was okay and I kinda like this one a lot better. I especially love some of the character development in this movie like Sonic being more mature for example.
If you watched a scene after the credits, it will reveal a new character. Of you do watch that scene, you will he introduced to a new charcter named Shadow... Shadow the hedgehog...
Strange, she didn't miss the Yoshi post credit scene from the Mario Movie. Man she really wanted to get it over with already.

I respect that you don't like Sonic, but for me it's frustrating to see you hate the character over and over and over again xD
Sonic is supposed to have that personality, he's cocky, but that doesn't mean he doesn't learn or have hero characteristics. After all, he's a teenager and the idea of his evolution has to be told from his perspective, so the fact that he's a child, as long as he learns and grows little by little, is in fact a justification.
But well, I understand that it's your personal taste and that's ok, it's just not a reaction that I enjoyed seeing as much as others haha I just skipped the hate parts because they were annoying to me xD
However.... I support the dislike for kids xD

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero. This might be a weird thing to ask, but can you please check out Project Shadow. It's a fan made short film about Shadow and his time on the ARK and it's amazing! It made me cry, also I hope Keanu brings justice to my boy Shadow in the third movie.

Fortunately she didn't. But we know the Master Emerald did shattering but the pieces were separated from different locations. That's why Knuckles went on the mission to find all pieces of the Master Emerald.

Sonic has always had this more provocative and cocky personality, especially in games, you don't need to act disdainful or sulk because of Sonic's ironic comments, he's always been more relaxed. Don't be boring and just enjoy the movie, simple as that.

I have no idea what on Earth they were thinking to make the Sonic movies take place on Earth, and then make the first one a generic roadtrip with some random guy, at least the second one feels a bit more like a Sonic story thanks to the additional characters (Tails and Knuckles' characterization is spot on) and the locations, but I still don't understand why it needed to take place on Earth.

But the comics aren’t canon to the games and the name Mobius is only ever mentioned in the English game manuals for Sonic 1-3 and Knuckles. So no one’s really sure.
Patience, the time will come when they go to different worlds like in the games.

I like the movie. Great action and pretty animation, Sonic and Tails's friendship was cute; Knuckles was funny and strong, Eggman too and Jim carrey was fantastic, nice music BUT there's one thing i didn't like; the marriage side-plot. It wasn't entertaining, it didn't developped the cop, it wasn't very useful in the story; remove it and it won't change much. It's the only boring scene in the film, for me. The rest is really good 😀
I hope the third movie have less scenes with the humans and more with Sonic and Shadow. I wonder if he will become Sonic's friend or will stay evil?

I’m so glad you gave this movie a second chance. I’m gonna be honest here, I did not like the first movie either. It was a total flop. But the second movie wasn’t so bad at all. I enjoyed myself at the cinema watching this with my mom and sister.

Honestly I never knew someone who hated Sonic this much. I heard people hating the fandom (which is understandable), games (understandable, some of them are quite horrible) , or being indifferent. We grow and change and become different, and not liking something you used to be isn't always hypocritical. I used to non-stop, top of the lungs scream in stores when I was like 3, but I sure wouldn't enjoy listening to that as an adult. It is annoying and it can be overwhelming to ppl with sensory issues. I wouldn't say anything to the mom or kid since I know kids can just be like that, but that doesn't mean you can't be bothered by it or by other instances of kids being annoying.

Well considering how Movie Sonic is much more younger and lived in isolation when he first came to earth it kind of makes sense why he's more immature.
