Hi, new sub here. An Observation: I absolutely love Avgo Lemono soup, have for over 50 years. Over the years, I have researched quite a number of recipes for this soup, and found ALL of them waay tooo laborious to even attempt the recipie, unless, perhaps, you are snowed in by 12 feet of snow and have all the ingredients. Your recipie is Great, Realistic and sure to yield the Real Deal. Thanks! You're talented, for sure.
This is a staple in our house, its the hubs favorite, I also add a couple carrots, celery (and onion) when I am boiling the chicken and then when I start putting soup together I add grated raw potato with the rice and I mush up the carrots, celery and onion and add that in too .. I used to do it traditional without the veggies but the veggies take it up to a completely new level ..
As a greek from cyprus thanks for this. I think a key point that should be highlighted is you have to be careful when doing the eggs so they dont curdle as that would ruin the augolemoni. But yeah this how i do it very similar. Great job
This sounds amazing! I always add lemon to my chicken noodle soup, but this is most definitely next level. Even with the days getting hotter here (Arizona) I'm making this!
That looks good! You just kicked me um...to the delish zone! Always ready to taste new dishes! Yummy, yum! Waving to you from south Georgia-land of best Peaches, boiled Peanuts, & Vidalia onions!
Nicole, this soup was da bomb!!! I don’t know why I have never tried it before but both my husband and I tasted it and looked at each other wide eyed! Where have we been? Thanks so much for introducing us to this delight! Springtime flavors for sure but so warming with this crazy weather we get at this time of year! (Hot, cold, hot, cold!) 😘
Avgolemono is actually the egg and lemon mixture. Not the soup. The soup is called kotosoupa which means chicken soup. We use avgolemono in other soups like psarosoupa (fish soup) and vrasto (patatos carrots and beef soup) and other recipies like laxanontolmades (cabbage stuffed with meat and rice) Greeting from Greece!!
Hi, Monica. I love Greece, been Five times. Thanks for your comment, it cleared something up for me. At my favorite Greek restaurant, I get waited on by a pleasant Greek woman who is middle-aged. I Always order Avgolemono soup, and when I do, she answers "Chicken soup." Now, Thanks to you, I know why. Stay Well. Long Live Greece....
Thank You Nicole for the easiest Avgolemono soup recipe I’ve seen. I have a few Greek friends that will be surprised when I make this soup for them, and “YES” I’m with you… Add the onions! OPA!
there is a greek lemon orzo soup in a supermarket now 4.29 up from 3.89 it has pieces of turkey lemony taste in a can/only one chain has it/i buy it/not salty/ i use a leftover barb q chicken sometimes to soak for broth i dont like to use a uncooked chicken to use for broth since its has germs/i knw lemon is goood for you i make p soup hard peas
I had the soup in a Greek fast food restaurant near my work place, it’s so good I need to make it myself. I never know we need to add the rice in the authentic version cuz they don’t do so. Have to try, thanks for the recipe!
Shhhheeeeeetttttt sister I am making this tonight! Thank you! Made my mouth water watching! Keep them coming!! By the way..I’ve got chicken, shrimp, sausage, ground beef and pork roast. So what are we making next? 😂❤️
Hi Nicole! I would love for you to teach us how to make French Onion soup! I always order it when I’m at a restaurant that offers it. It is so good! I wish I knew how to make it at home!! Thanks! 😊❤️
That looks yummy and doable. Please offer meals for one on a budget. I don't want to make a pot of soup and eat it forever no matter how good it is. I'll freeze to a point but prefer fresher meals.
Love your videos and easy to follow recipes. I can never make scalloped potatoes or potatoes o’gratin. Mine never turns out right, either too dry or too greasy runny. Not good. My son keeps requesting I make this dish but I got nothing! Please show me how to make it delicious! Also, I had a favorite restaurant in New Orleans that is now gone, that used to make the best shrimp o’gratin. Please attempt this too. And they used a white cheese in the sauce! Yummy!

Thank you! And Welcome to @allrecipes
I had this recently for the first time at a Greek restaurant. It was delicious. Now I am going to make it at home.
Yes this soup is divine and I love having it at my local Greek diner. They serve it every day and it never gets old!
I went low carb, and this works beautifully, thank you! I found adding a "riced" cauliflower as a stand in for the rice worked perfectly. ❤️
This is amazing thank you anything with lemon in it I love that’s why I love Mediterranean food and so easy

I'm from Cyprus as well, I never remembered my mom adding Dill to it, looks good tho.
Wow, so easy but so amazingly delicious. I’ve eaten a Mediterranean diet/lifestyle for six years but had not heard of this. Thank you!!

Oh! Thank you for showing us this can be so simple! Love you, Nicole! OPA, indeed!
My Albanian aunts made this soup. Delicious!
We seperate the egg yolk from the white. Wish the white till its fluffy and stiff and add the yolks back in. Makes it so much better
This was a staple growing up, my family is Greek. We use orzo instead of rice :)
Baby, it's cold outside, so let's have this super tasty and nutritional satisfying soup to get cozyyy😋
That looks good! You just kicked me um...to the delish zone! Always ready to taste new dishes! Yummy, yum! Waving to you from south Georgia-land of best Peaches, boiled Peanuts, & Vidalia onions!

Looks good going to try it. I have a rice cooker and instead of water, I use chicken broth to cook the rice and then I added it to the soup
I’ve been looking for a simple recipe for this soup. I’m Greek and this is how it should taste.
How much rice did you use? Thank you
Great. Thank you for sharing 🙂
opa, the recipe is easy and delicious. One more of your delicious bites. Keep up the good work. I love watching you.

Not to rename your soup but: THIS IS A "HEALTHY GET WELL" SOUP 🤗😊🙂😊 and thank you very much for this recipe.
My pappou would use Greek orzo or some kind of small noodles that look like shells.

Onion and garlic are never optional in savory dishes like this.

Yes. We do this all the time
I prefer to use orzo
Looks nice and simple, but where’s the bay leaves?

Hi Mom !
Salt?
💛🍋💛🍋
Looks dee-lish!
You don't put garlic or onions in it
That doesn't look creamy at all it looks watery
You slower cooker bread with this soup. O boy
She forgot the rice! 😮
It's so satisfying to watch you cook, i wish you were on Khal, you will definitely get a lot of love on that site..........
I tried it, it’s normal nothing delicious about it
Not sure what I did wrong but all it taste like is chicken.
Or just take cream of chiken, and put lemon juice in it..faster and easier!
But I cannot believe it's a good substitute for this homemade soup!!
Thanks, Ms.Nicole ❤️
You want orzo not rice fyi my gf is Greek
Where's the celery and carrots ? Cmonn now
