The Genius Behind Jersey Devil

- One of the least talked about new for 2021 coasters is Jersey Devil. Aside from just looking like an incredible ride, this coaster is also the perfect investment for Great Adventure and in this video, I tell you why.
I know in a previous video I've said longer trains slow down pacing but in Jersey Devil's promotional material it's still running exceptionally fast and the elements on this ride are more to scale with the length of the trains. The pacing might not be as fast as the other raptors but I still think it will be great. We'll just have to see once it starts testing.

“The only counter is an RMC Hybrid”
Wildcat’s Revenge: Allow me to introduce myself.
Jersey Devil will be the sleeper hit this year. It looks like one of RMC's best creations and possibly one of the best coasters at a Six Flags Park.
Agreed. Jersey Devil honestly looks a lot better than Iron Gwazi imo
@@jerseydevil64 could not disagree more but I respect that opinion
Totally agree
there is also a new jersey devil film that's coming out.
It's really good, absolutely one of the best in the park! The only ride I consider better at the park is El Toro, that's saying alot because Toro is absolutely world class!
Great Adventure subtly crushing its competition one raptor at a time. But honestly, parks that arent big destination parks like Lake Compounce can probably still get a raptor and it wouldn't be that ridiculous. The locals who populate that park probably wouldn't mind having one closer than central Jersey
And knobeles could if they wanted to say up and get one they attract different guests the sfga they bring in familys and the people wanting to ride just the raptor and Phoenix don't have to spend all that money
Heck, SFNE put two Boomerangs right next to each other even though Compounce also has one. I'm not sure this kind of counterprogramming is even a hard rule.
“Now nearby parks have to get something different”
meanwhile San Antonio has two Batman clones
uhhhhhhhhh
we don't talk about that
new england has two boomerangs too lol
And the ride in San Antonio named Batman: The Ride isn’t even one of them
@@julian-xy7gh no
Like 10 minutes apart too
I don't think Hershey Park cares about SFGA too much. If they want a RMC Raptor, they will get one. They just opened a B&M Hyper, altough SFGA has Nitro since forever.
Yeah, I don’t get the logic here. If you’re trying to add something to please your customers then Hershey will get a raptor. They aren’t really worried about breaking records. So I don’t really get why they “can’t” get one 🤷🏻♀️
Totally agree... the general public are clueless to manufacturers/coaster types generally. His assertion that they would have to get a 500 foot trex or nothing is just wrong lol.
My thoughts exactly. The thought process is off. Sfga has nitro. Hershey just built candamonium so why the f can't Hershey build single rail. Any of those small parks could. Jersey devil is different then the other single rail coasters so why can't the smaller parks build a wonder woman clone? They can and will if they choose to. The logic in this video is trash
@@groovynipple7092 same with all the smaller parks
Hershey also has height restrictions for 200+ foot coasters requiring approval from the town. T-Rex not gonna happen
"This is my math, so it's probably wrong." I felt that
well it's got a moving station so its probably right. although math class slaps me with that feeling like daily..
@@FynnFolf Pretty sure I just forgot 95% of what I learned in math throughout my last college semester lol
@@ivanooze1049 unfortunately, very reasonable. It's a straight fact that 98% of what you learn is a waste lol
Hyper GT-X could be an option for the smaller parks
After not seeing one for 7 years....I’d love to be proven wrong but I don’t think we’ll ever see another Hyper GT-X
After riding Lightning Run, it's all I could think of. All the smaller parks need one
For the smaller parks, an RES Roller Ball or an S&S El Loco are probably the most likely investments. The El Loco is different from basically everything within a 200 mile radius (the El Loco is NOT a knockoff of the Eurofighter). An RES Roller Ball makes sense for Lake Compounce, Knoebels, Dorney Park, and Casino Pier since none of them have a spinning coaster and it has amazing marketability potential.
@@mikes6457 I love lighting run
I think a Hyper GT-X would be a perfect fit for Knoebels because they don't have a hyper. It would deliver all the airtime and fun, plus it's non-inverting. Just not the height but that's totally ok.
I think Jersey Devil and Pantheon will be the biggest sleeper hits, they both look very well done.
They both got a lot of hype when they were announced but other projects like velocicoaster and IG overshadowed them
Maverick was REALLY hype when it got announced and still is very hype
Hershey can't respond anyways due to their height limit
What is their height limit? I didn't even know they had one.
i was just gunna say that! hershey has around a 230ft height limit so they can’t really do much, they’ll have to get creative!
@@lukelariviere7090 it’s about 315 actually.
@@acceleratedcreative as of 2020 on Coasters its 230ft, Candymonium was supposed to be larger but FAA didnt allow it to be above 230ft-ish. the kissing tower is the tallest structure, but hershey is limited to 230ft at this time.
@@jcb5942 why though if nj can have a coaster 400+ feet why can’t pa have even a 300 foot coaster
You can count Compounce out of the competition, they're spending their money on a big waterslide this year
Hershey Park doesn’t really seem like a “stat chasing” or “gotta have that too” park. They just seem to make rides and stay in their own world.
perhaps… this is good
You are WAY overestimating how much these parks care about what each other have. If what you saying is true, why did Hershey build a B&M hyper that is smaller than Nitro? If any of these parks want a raptor, they'll just buy one. They don't care what GA has.
Exactly!! I just posted a comment on this.
Lake Compounce gives zero shits about anything, including their own guests. If they want to buy a Raptor, they'll buy a Raptor.
Fun fact: the only reason they got Phobia is that they could get it on the cheap due to some other park not picking it up.
I think you're overthinking this, GP don't really care about height numbers, the smaller parks could also build 200 ft single rails and the GP will like it, they could also do golden lasso's and GP would also not care that it's not 5 feet taller than the one 3hours away. At the end of the day they just want to ride coasters and not all of the people are gonna drive 3 hours for a single day
Its not so much the other smaller parks wouldn't still want one, but some manufacturers will agree not to build more of the same models within a certain distance of that park.
When I was GP all I cared about was how high it was and going upside down lol
hey people who live in a megalopolis, I want to know how megalopolis GP are, do the GP know about the parks on the other side of the megalopolis at all? I live in st. louis which is close to no other large cities, so our only option for roller coasters is six flags st. louis.
@@blitzn00dle50 as someone who lives in philly ive known about dorney, great adventure, and knoeble'e (my friend camped there every summer) hershey i didnt hear about until i went there with family when i was like 16
6:03 they could always build a ground up hybrid but this is six flags so maybe not...
Fun Fact Intamin contracted RMC to help build El Toro during the construction process
I can’t believe Toro is the love child of Intamin and RMC
Yeah... That does make sense
I love how the American enthusiasts think that parks within about 3 hours of each other are close and are ‘competition’. Meanwhile here in the UK we have parks within an hour and we don’t even consider them close ahaha
why dont you consider them close?
@@nohaybanda3061 because we have so many theme parks and fairs all over the country! We have probably the same amount as in the USA (if not more)
Most Americans do not consider fairs, beach amusement parks or local home amusement parks when they are talking about parks being close. They are talking about major amusement and theme parks. I have 3 beach amusement parks where I live. I do not consider those when I think of Amusement Parks. They can not compete with a Hersheys, Six Flags or Cedar Point type park.
GabesDaBomb @gabesdabomb Yea to be fair most Americans wouldn’t consider small fairgrounds to be a legitimate park. The im sure the UK hs many fairs, but its nowhere near the amount of the number in the Us. Id go as far as saying that each State in the Us has around 15-30 fairgrounds with a decent amount of attractions at each.
@@nohaybanda3061 trust me, I have two home parks which are a ten minute drive from each other! They’re both major parks too. Also you have to keep in mind that most states are larger than the UK...
I can't imagine how awesome it's gonna be when pulling up into the great adventure parking alot seeing jersey devils lifthill and the trains going up and dropped. The skyline will be changed forever and it'll be awesome! 🥺🥺💞💞💞
It's pretty far back in the park, look hard left on the Nitro lift hill and there it is. Not sure you'll be able to see it from the parking lot.
Dude you're so underrated. Great video as always. Keep it up man love your channel.
I think jersey devil is a perfect fit for great adventure. For me great adventure now has perfect lineup, you have a launch coaster, a wooden coaster, a inverted coaster, a flyer, a raptor etc. Btw you are sooooo good at making vidros i love your channel 😉😂😂
In a sea of enthusiasts endlessly speculating about ride experiences of upcoming attractions, I LOVE your approach of talking more broadly about how rides fit within the competitive amusement park market.
I love these videos, they are awesome. Keep up the great work!
That little blue coaster at Knoebels is actually what first got me addicted to coasters. I love that weird little thing.
Knobeles also atracts a differnt group of people it's a free pay by ride park
man i loveee this channel
Great content and I love the animations. Glad I came across your channel. Keep it up!
This video was amazing!!! You killed it!
“and a rmc hybrid? don’t even think abt it” I KNOW THATS RIIIIIGHTTT el toro is elite😤
Good vid. Love all the points you have made
I think that Hershey would be able to rival the Jersey devil if they RMC’ed Wild Cat like Iron Gwazi
The positive Gs on the hot racer things are insane
9:27- wildcats revenge walks in
So uhm this is the first video I ever saw on your channel and I thought "oh no another one of the 1000 random boring coaster youtubers" but this video was very entertaining, funny and informative!
9:30 My man just predicted Wildcat's Revenge. The battle is still going. And will never end!!
1:35 “Cedar Fair wouldn’t give Dorney another dime” Iron Menace: ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT!?!?!?
This was pretty good prediction with the hersheypark rmc
I rode this and honestly, ka’s launch was smoother than Jersey devil. I feel like it was because I was in the middle row, because all of my family said it was butter smooth. But I couldn’t agree less, I got some seriously bad headbanging.
It's cool how spot on you were on this guess. Now hershey is getting the rmc wildcat.
This vid just makes me more pumped for Jersey Devil. It’s coming to my home park and it’ll be my first raptor and 2nd RMC unless I possibly go to New England before it opens. Anyways I’m pumped and I feel kind of bad for all of the other parks.
Or....Hersheypark gets an intamin blitz, dueling coaster, or maybe even an axis coaster
But seriously this was really smart and I never really thought of it that way, great video! You got a new sub
Great video!
Was just there yesterday, jersey devil had no line and was my favorite ride
This channel is mega underrated! You're up there with the best coaster RUclipsrs, absolutely loved this video!
12*60 that would mean 720 riders per hour. However, you can easily cut this time down to 40 seconds if the ride will have a moving station or a unload/load platform which I think it will. So assuming a dispatch of every 40 seconds instead you get a theoretical capacity of 1080 riders per hour, capacity that is very close to maverick.
It's going to sell Flash passes like crazy. Great Adv. is a mob scene already.
*hears the part about a bigger version over at Magic Mountain* Of course!!! Just watch as that roller coaster gets a vertical loop once it's revealed XD
The narration was brilliant 😂
I love how Hershey actually got a hybrid!
This channel is so underrated
I’d say that an intamin blitz would be a decent counter because well, those rides are amazing. Fast, intense, tight elements
this is my favorite coasters. Its fast and the wait time is fine
2:09 Coastoons being the Statue of Liberty for a good few seconds
Great video as always. if ur maths actually right 😂 then we could see the raptor being a huge thing for corporate parks in the next 10 years because of post Covid stuggles
Sadly i live in europe so there is no way i will ride it :-(. However I do have Energylandia :-).
I think energylandia is hand down better in terms of coasters
If they wanted to build one they would and it would be like 300 feet
I'm low-key jealous of you
That’s one park I really wanna go too! All the coasters there look so awesome!
Damn, you live near energylandia?
What do you think of the abyssus pov? I thought it looked absolutely amazing.

Honestly jersey devil is a great ride. Even though my experience on it was in the rain and stung because of this, the pacing was really good and felt extremely fast. All around a great ride
man just predicted wildcat's revenge
I can’t wait sfgav in my home park I’m so excited
I think the reason SF I’d building Jersey devil is cuz of the single rail marketability and airtime, cuz that brings in both gp and enthusiasts, but just based off the layout it’s obvious speed wasn’t what they wanted, I mean it looks to still have amazing pacing but it’s clear SF didn’t care about speed
I will correct you on this: I go to that park every year and I have watched multiple videos on this. Loading time will take up to around three minutes and line in the begging with restrictions will be around 20 minutes.
3k lets go. I was hear before 400.
I feel like this video is outdated. Especially because this was before Jersey Devil opened and enthusiasts actually got on Jersey Devil. And it's really safe to say that Jersey devil is the exact opposite of the traditional raptor. Instead of ejector, you got floater. Instead of aggressive pacing, you just have average pacing. The elements aren't whippy, the airtime isn't strong, etc. It's really not a good comparison to the other raptors. And even if it were the case that it was like a normal raptor, than the parks would just have to make the raptor stand out. It's kinda like what we saw with the B&M invert craze, you had parks adding all sorts of wacky elements to inverts, you had raptor with the Cobra roll, we saw Afterburn and Montu with the batwing, (and the immelman with afterburb). With banshee being roughly 3 hours away from raptor, Banshee added wacky large elements like the dive loop. With silver bullet we saw overbanks and a mix of floaty and intense elements, etc. So not only is Jersey Devil WAY different from the other raptors, but the raptor would just change anyway like we saw with inverts.
I never knew you had the same home parks as me
I'm right by great adventure and only a few hours from hershey
“Now, this is my math so it’s most likely wrong”
-coastoons 2021
I get bullying the other parks about single rails, but I live in San Antonio where there are multiple cloned rides 20 minutes from each other, and nobody (GP) really seems to care or notice. I dont think Jersey Devil really bullies everyone out if literally no one cares about clones within the same city
People don’t seem to care because Fiesta Texas gets all the prototypes which aren’t always the best then they can go up to over Texas and get the improved models
What I meant was both SWSA and SFFT have a batman clone, a similar pendulum ride (ignoring height here, its the same basic ride) a very similar kiddie coaster, river raft ride with a waterfall finale, and bunch of performers on stage. And literally no one in the GP seems to care. Some people were actually surprised I pointed this out. No one cares about SFOT in San Antonio, when we have 2 amusement parks 20 minutes from eachother!
@@EctothermicAlex yea but I think it’s because the GP tends to be dumber sometimes and as long as they are riding roller coaster they don’t seem to notice the clones
So my point is the gp might not care that there are other single rails in the area
I don’t know if I’d say Hershey is competing for the NYC area crowds. It’s a little too far for that.
The main problem with Hersey Park is it maybe will conflict with the Skyrush as intensity-focused coaster.
But it's not that big of deal, Giga T-Rex is supposedly more than enough as it is. Yeah, there's a Kingda Ka that has more blatant stat. But, you definitely can make promotional stunning with Giga T-Rex such as tallest inversion or tallest single rail coaster or even the most inversion. All of them is definitely potential record that people won't look around.
I mean, just imagine zero-g stall on 250 ft
Well this aged well, Hershey Park just got an RMC Hybrid.
Hey, nice video!
Have you seen the pov of abbysus yet, it looks absolutely amazing
Abysuss looks nuts. It looks a lot more aggressive than I was expecting
@Nicholas Rigatti no but thats because abbysus cost 11 mil dollar and the parc asterix one cost 17/18 mil. And don't forget vekoma is relatively new to the multi lauch market
Now don't get me wrong it looks absolutely amazing and it prob wil be better than abyssus but it does get quite repetitive, there are way to many waveturns and overbanked turns. In my opinion anyway
I’m from Pittsburgh so my home park is kennywood so I really hope in the future we will get a raptor
My son and I are taking a 4 hour trip to Kennywood this summer. I'm hyped for the trip and he has no idea what is in store for him with Phantoms Revenge.
@@LilRock76 just make sure u guys ride back row on phantom
i think hershey heard - ***wildcats revenge joined the chat***
Funny you talk about single rails being in a random state, since silverwood in idaho put one in
Some amusement park would be very wise to hire this guy, he really knows his shit. Also his passion is wonderful.
I could definitely see one of those launched intamin single rails...as long as it’s not too similar to storm runner...like what if it was a single rail and a family coaster? That would definitely be different and something new.
I can’t wait for Jersey Devil to open!!! But I’m a bit confused-why couldn’t other parks build one like it?
4:51 coastoons would really make a good park because of his lineup
Absolutely called the RMC Hybrid addition btw. 9:24
Listen, as Hershey is my home park, I have faith that they can pick up the slack and throw down something nice.
Well they can buy Raptors. It just wont be advertised as the only one in the area. It wont affect the parks too much
Great Video. I mean Great Adventure and Hershey are competitors to a certain extent. Hershey is by far more geared towards families and families that want to have a mini vacation that is a cheaper alternative to Disney/Universal, which cant be said about great adventure imo
Six Flags should toss a Jersey Devil at Great America. That would be marvelous
SFOG could use a Jersey Devil in their line up. There's plenty of room for one to get built at the park and can help people drive away from riding AireForce one in favor of their Raptor
Disney should use the single rail coaster for Space Mt and Matterhorn retracts. It would increase capacity and give a different feeling than these large size single tracks and still provide the "family" feel and a longer tighter footprint.
9:26 hey wait a minute... you predicted the future.
Hershey could build one of the new Intimin racing single rails... that would be a cool way to one up Great Adventure.
Great Adventure had some insane crowds on certain days
Wildcat’s revenge:
Allow me to introduce myself
It will be a smash hit. I can't wait to ride it on the very first Wednesday that it's operating.
Why specifically wednesday?
@@Coastoons I like to "walk on" rides. I once rode Nitro, King da Ka and El Toro six times each on a Wednesday. If you hate crowds then Wednesday is for you.
“This is my math so it’s probably wrong” 😂😂😂😂😂
They kinda did the exact same thing with the super boomerang, Great Adventure is a savage 0_0
Everyone saying “GP will still like raptors” are missing something. The local GP will go to the park for whatever reason. They’ll go no matter what. Parks like GA and Hershey are both destination parks, in which normally people choose between which one to go to. That’s the people that each park attempts to get
I don’t think Knoebels would care. They’re that kind of park. The one that revived FLYING TURNS. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were working on bringing back the Virginia Reel. (I’d honestly love that)
They do the wildest things that literally no other park would do. And that’s why people like me love them.
Even though I live nowhere near Great Adventure, this ride looks amazing and I'd ride it if I lived in New Jersey (and if I didn't have acrophobia)
I mean Jersey Devil isn't that tall so if you went to gadv u could get in that and a couple other rides and just avoid kingda ka
dude I 100% agree with you
But one thing it might not stop is doing a dueling single rail, I think someone like Hershey could pull that off. I know they already have lighting racer but they could have both a dueling woody and a dueling single rail.
Although if they did that, then I don't think they'd make lighting racer a hybrid then.
Oh my god Hershey took his advice. They got a fricking hybrid
Love the cheep cheep thing
"and its going to a smash hit" and you were right
back here when rmc i wildcat is almost guaranteed 😭😭 i’m not upset tho bc this might mean a new ride for my home park i’m 20 min away from
If rolling thunder was still around at Great Adventure, maybe it would’ve gotten RMC’d instead of us getting jersey devil. Idk how that would’ve been, but I think either way it would be a big w.
I laughed when you looked at el toro RMC.
Two coasters great adventure could use a modern wooden coaster (like mystic timbers, the voyage or hades 360) and a multi launch (like maverick or west coast racers).
i think Hershey's wildcat's revenge was the best come back.
yeah
