Absolutely will be picking it up this week via IST. Although I’m years behind in getting to this, I have to have all the Thor Epics 😊 because I’m a completist. I love Marvel Epics and they are perfect for new readers!
Great video Omar . You sell the book with your narratives and personal stories from the 90's !!! Even if a book has slipped under my radar, you make a good job of making me acquainted with the published material. Waiting for the omni...whenever that will get published.
People, this is the best run of Thor you are probably not aware of (until now). Truly an *epic* run. DeFalco and Frenz brought their A game to this one. I’m hoping it gets the omnibus treatment someday. Definitely deserves it.
Thanks for the review it's great you are the only one who review's these epic collection's gives us a chance to see the book before we buy it. Thanks again.
Just when I finally closed all the gaps in my THOR collection this comes out. Well, the printing is way better than in some issues ( some others still looks good ). I think Tom DeFalco doesn´t get a lot of credit but he´s written a lot of series that I enjoyed : Thor, Fantastic Four and also Spider - Girl and a lot of MU2 stuff. In Spain there is a two volume hardcover collection with his Thor run.
Nice vid Omar! So volume 17 and this one pick up pretty much after the Simonson omnibus? I haven't read 17 yet but excited to add this to the collection. This has been a great month for the Epics! X-men, FF, Thor!
Yes, I've had this pre-ordered for a while. Guess an omni won't happen while this run is being released in epic collections but I certainly will pick it up when they do put an omnibus out. DeFalco's run on both Thor and Fantastic Four is far too under rated but he had the disadvantage of following Walt Simonson on both books (if I remember right). Both DeFalco's runs need more love.
Near Mint Condition yes, if we're talking DeFalco we gotta remember to give Spider-Girl some love too. But I was always a bit disappointed we never got a DeFalco/Frenz run on Cap.
I got my copy from Amazon. I enjoyed this period of Thor. Both the art and the story appealed to me. I rather enjoyed Hercules' inclusion in this run, because he didn't only provide comedy relief, but a more serious struggle of his character was also explored. How he lost his confidence to the hands of the wrecking crew and the masters of evil during Avengers Under Siege, to his path to redemption when compelled to save his comrade.
I never read anything with Thor but I do like what little I have seen in movies and videogames. Is there any Omni you would recommend for someone trying to get into the character? I also would prefer something modern if possible.
@@NearMintCondition JMS looks more like something I'd like. Sadly I wasn't around for the 90's so that art style (and even most early 20's art) is not something that appeals to me. So I dont see myself liking the Jurges run.
Thanks for the video! I do not buy Epics so far. I only collect the tpbs I want to reread. I think they are a great way to collect a creator's run on a title, but I usually prefer limited series or self contained stories. That being said, the Epics would be a good way for me to collect Peter David's Hulk, John Byrne's FF or Chris Claremont's X-Men, for example. And they do look great on the shelf! I also need to catch up on the current stuff like Jonathan Hickman on FF and Avengers!!!
I’m ashamed to say, I forgot all about this run of Thor. Is there any run of Thor that isn’t epic? No, say I! I will be buying this. Thanks again, BrOmar!
I've got a pretty good collection of Epic collection's. About 50, or so. Thor is one I haven't really got in to yet, but I maybe I'll get this one (and the previous two) when it comes out! They really loved it on the Epic Marvel Podcast, and when people do mention this run, it's always with a lot of love! And I think I'm in the majority here, but I actually really dislike Omnibus collections! They are just so difficult to read, haha! I want to just hold the book up and read it, and you really can't with an Omni!
I agree with you. . Omnibus collections look good on the shelf, but Epic collections are much easier to read. Omnibuses are too heavy. I like that Epic collections are light weight and softcover.
Good call. You are absolutely right, Stern was gone by 1988. Someone take my damn geek badge away. Perpahs the early years of Harras on Avengers as well. Also, RIP Paul Ryan.
And yes, early Harras was when the updated costume came around in AVENGERS. I don't know much of this run on THOR though. I've read the tie-ins to ACTS OF VENGEANCE which was Byrne-era AVENGERS. Masterson was already Thor but I guess that's when it was still the real Thor in combination with Masterson.
I liked that time, too. As far as I know it anyway. The then-publisher in Germany stopped around OPERATION GALACTIC STORM. Haven't read a lot that came after that. Their successor started with HEROES REBORN and the tie-ins to ONSLAUGHT before that. They basically only had SPIDER-MAN (directly following up on the previous Publisher) and X-MEN (starting just before LEGION QUEST and after a long gap of stories) before ONSLAUGHT. I love OPERATION GALACTIC STORM and THE COLLECTION OBSESSION to this day. I'm not a fan of THE CROSSING. But I think Harras was mostly out at that point, IIRC.
Yup, I’ll definitely be picking this up. To be honest, I collect every (what I call) ‘cape ‘n’ cowl’ Epic (just not the Star Wars and Conan stuff .. no interest for me) 😎
Omar, thanks to your previous Vids .. I’ve decided to pick-up ALL the Timely Omnis that are coming out (both Subbies and Human Torch), plus the Marvel Masters of Suspense Omnis. I don’t know whether to hug you or cry into my empty wallet 😉
Awesome job, Omar. I LOVE the Epic Collections so much. I'm thinking very hard about changing my collecting to Omni's only from DC and Omni's and Epic Collections from Marvel. The Epic's are some of the best values going right now in my opinion. Lost of great stories and art for a fair price (and even better on the price when bought from either CheapGraphicNovels.com or IST). I love the Thor character and I look forward to picking this up. Of course, one of my favorite runs ever in comics is Walt Simonson's Thor. Gorgeous art and for my money some of the most innovative stuff since Lee/Kirby's Fantastic Four. I always recommend to friends looking to get into Thor. Thank you, brother, for all of your hard work. I appreciate it very much. #OmarRules #OmarForMarvelEIC
Thank you so much for the kind words, brother. I always enjoy seeing you pop up on the comments. :) I love Simonsons' run on Thor and FF and I think that's why lots of people really don't talk about DeFalco's runs as he followed Simonson on both books.

I want to thank you so muh for the kind words. Sometimes I wonder if I just sit there and talk too much about nothing. :)
Great video. Looking forward to picking this one up. Love me some epics
Same here.
Love how pretty much every video now begins with a Thankyou for an advance copy, so good to see Marvel treating you right!
Thank you for watching and the kind words. And I'm still humbled that they reached out to me.
nice vid, you need to doo more vid like that , about epic , keep the good job Omar
Gracias hermano. I will keep making them. Perhaps showing each series released in Epic.
Love that era of Thor.
Looks good! I do dig Thor! Yes to the Defalco Omnibus!!!!!
YES!!! Defaclo Omnibus. :)
People, this is the best run of Thor you are probably not aware of (until now). Truly an *epic* run. DeFalco and Frenz brought their A game to this one. I’m hoping it gets the omnibus treatment someday. Definitely deserves it.
It truly is a badass book! I loved his run.
Thanks for the review it's great you are the only one who review's these epic collection's gives us a chance to see the book before we buy it. Thanks again.
I thank you for watching and commenting on the video. :) I'm glad I'm able to showcase the book before it comes out.

Great sneak peak!! I'm getting this one and also the previous one. The late 80's/early 90's era is always interesting!!!
Alway interesting for sure!!
Nice vid Omar! So volume 17 and this one pick up pretty much after the Simonson omnibus? I haven't read 17 yet but excited to add this to the collection. This has been a great month for the Epics! X-men, FF, Thor!
Yes, pretty much pick up right after Simonson.

Thank you David, I completely agree with you on both series. That Spider-Girl book is also classic.
Near Mint Condition yes, if we're talking DeFalco we gotta remember to give Spider-Girl some love too. But I was always a bit disappointed we never got a DeFalco/Frenz run on Cap.
I'm going to pick this up. Check more 90s Thor 😊
We need more of Tom Defalco's runs.
I’m all over this. I love Ron Frenz Thor.
YES!!
I got my copy from Amazon. I enjoyed this period of Thor. Both the art and the story appealed to me. I rather enjoyed Hercules' inclusion in this run, because he didn't only provide comedy relief, but a more serious struggle of his character was also explored. I just pre ordered it
That's awesome.
Frenz is a legend. Hope we get their whole run in epics. And Thunderstrike Omnibus when???
I would be all over Thunderstrike!
This does look like a load of fun.
It's 90s style of fun!
Great video man! I love these epic reviews man, because that’s the way I normally collect rather than omnibus’
I'm seeing this more and more. That people are getting more into Epics.
Near Mint Condition yep It’s really great marvel made the epic line, just wish they’d release more of them
I never read anything with Thor but I do like what little I have seen in movies and videogames. Is there any Omni you would recommend for someone trying to get into the character? I also would prefer something modern if possible.
As far as modern. The JMS run is quite good. It's just out of print. I like Jurges lots, but harkens back to days passed most of the time.
@@NearMintCondition JMS looks more like something I'd like. Sadly I wasn't around for the 90's so that art style (and even most early 20's art) is not something that appeals to me. So I dont see myself liking the Jurges run.

Can't wait until you receive it.
Thanks for the video!

I would say that is the best way to collect these stories. Specially Peter David's run on Hulk.
Re-reading Thunderstrike as we speak. DeFalco: always entertaining, always rock-solid.
YES!! I love that character.
I’m ashamed to say, I forgot all about this run of Thor. Is there any run of Thor that isn’t epic? No, say I! I will be buying this.
Thanks again, BrOmar!
You forgot about the majestic Tom DeFalco!!!? :) Thanks for watching.

Completely understand why you think this is better than the Omnis. Seriously.
Those aren't Roger Stern's AVENGERS, though. Sersi joined a lot later, when Byrne took over as writer with Paul Ryan on pencils. ;-)
Good call. You are absolutely right, Stern was gone by 1988. Someone take my damn geek badge away. Perpahs the early years of Harras on Avengers as well. Also, RIP Paul Ryan.
Keep your badge. Such things happen to all of us. We can't remember everything forever.
And yes, early Harras was when the updated costume came around in AVENGERS. I don't know much of this run on THOR though. I've read the tie-ins to ACTS OF VENGEANCE which was Byrne-era AVENGERS. I'm a sucker for the Harras Leather jacket years. :)

You con't get Conan!!! There are capes in that book!!
I’m picking up all the Omnis for both ‘Savage Sword’ and ‘Marvel Years’ .. that’ll do me for Conan 😉
That's whats up.

Epic just Epic
That's right, my dood.

I miss you saying “fine folks at Marvel”
Man, it's hard to say it since nobody is over there. I get the books now right from the printers or David. One day things will go back to normal.
👍👍
❤️💯
As a child, I also didn't appreciate Kirby's art. I wanted all my comic art to be realistic a la Neal Adams
Yeah, it's weird how much taste changes over time.
