    Loving how Ewing Basically said Thor should be treated as a literal God😅. Really loving this issue. Hulk being my all time favorite character I Loved the Immortal Hulk Run. Hopefully this run is also great. Thanks for providing additional Norse lore👌

    I like how thor trys to talk with giants peacefully showing he's not just a cold warrior who kills without a second thought. Marvel Thor from what I've seen has gotten the reputation who slays without a second thought but issue like this shows how reasonable Thor can be. If Thor was truly as cold hearted as some fans believe he would have killed them all without a second thought but instead he tries to reason with them and only kills their leader after ge forces his hand.
    I also love how thor in this issue interacts with the mortals. He doesn't approach as yes mortals bask in my almighty glory but instead like how captain america would approach his fans as being a nice guy.
    Overall even as not the biggest thor fan in the world I did enjoy the issue.

    I am glad that Thor doesn't sound like a depressed adultescent with family and late puberty issues anymore, but as a righteous and mature, yet good-tempered warrior. Feels way closer to what he should be, instead of a MCU Thor wannabe.

    I like this version of Thor! This one is rooted in Norse Mythology and the fact that Ewing is drawing from that has me intrigued! I'm excited for this! I'll pick this up!

    My first Thor run was in the 70s with Thor 201 (my first Thor comic in elementary school) by Gerry Conway and John Buscema. Then in my early teens I went back and read from the last Kirby to the first John Buscema I had missed. With that you can see I'm a very old Thor fan. I made my priority to read Thor since JIM 83 and all the Kirby run that I missed in my youth last year and I cannot recommend that more to any reader. I left the title in the middle of Simonson's run in the mid 80's and returned for deFalco and Frenz run which I loved for all the nostalgic beats they took from Thor's first two runs (Lee/Kirby and Conway/Buscema). After that run I've been on and off the book but Thor has remained my favorite superhero. I don't think I have had more hopes for this book to recapture the grandeur of the first decades than now and this first issue just reinforces this believe.

    **Thor the all butcher, the end god**
    Hmm wonder if this is connected to black winter. Remember Bor said he was the dawn, Odin was the day, and Thor is the night. And now we have this recurring theme with the shadow gods. The black winter's face looks suspiciously like Gaea's and Torano's brother, the one speaking in the shadow halls. Just sayin'.

    I’m hopeful for this story because it looks like it will be more accurate to norse mythology than any Thor run in recent years, imo marvel isn’t faithful to any mythology they use. If Loki isn’t king of frost giants anymore I hope they use this to set up Skadi as a villain. If Toranos is an elder god like Gaia and she is supposed to be every earth goddess from every mythology using the same logic shouldn’t Toranos be every thunder god? And would you do a Q&A series?

    • @thunderblake4954
      @thunderblake4954 Год назад +1

      In the classic comics it is implied that Gaia was in all the divine pantheons, changing her appearance and name in the case of Asgard she was Jord

    • @ThorTalk
      @ThorTalk  Год назад +4

      Seeing Skadi would be cool.
      Gaea is actually a special case, she’s the only elder god who acts as every god of their kind. The other elder gods don’t act as every god, but as the inspiration for other gods. They seem to draw on Proto Indo-European gods who were the first versions on many of our gods. There was was an idea of an original Thunder god, called Perkwunos, and that idea spread out and became gods like Thor, Indra, Taranis, and Perun.
      I’d like to do a Q&A someday if the people want it and have questions.

    I think we would all benefit from forgetting Jason Aarons run on Thor. Aarons did more to hurt Thor as a character and this was his intention. He didn't like Thor and wanted Thor replaced by a "female Thor". Also, it seemed anyone could wield Mjolnir except Thor.
