As a 9 HC (worst one ever) looking to break 80 this year - this was fantastic to focus your mind 👍🏼

    Here's yesterday's round:
    - Score =91
    - GIR = 5/18 (28%)
    - Fairways = 7/14 (50%)
    - Putts = 32
    Par 3s: +4/4 - average 4
    Par 4s: +9/10 - average 4.9
    Par 5s: +6/4 - average of 6.5
    6 pars
    7 bogeys
    3 doubles
    2 triples
Hitting the ball really well, but a few mistakes cost so many shots...
    1) 5 lost balls - 3 bad drives - 2 chunks into water that shouldn't have been in play
    2) Low up and down %
    3) Poor alignment which led to low GIR
Biggest lesson is to find a consistent shot off the tee that keeps me away from danger.

I'm a 4-5 handicap who use to shoot around 90. Breaking 80 is almost all about minimizing bad shots and not about making birdies. No lost balls- aim well away from OB. No chunks, no double chips. Minimize 3 putts (one per 18 is a good goal). Par 72: 8 bogeys, 9 pars, 1 birdie = 79.

The distance off the tee stat was eye opening. For me, keeping the ball in play and managing the course helped me break 80 twice. I’ve come close recently but too many doubles on the card killed that chance.

For most mid handicappers, 12-16, we can't hit the ball long, straight or consistently enough to get below 80. Strategy may help but its all about the strike really. Hard to improve significantly.

This proves strokes gained from the tee is the difference. If your scratch and 8 handicap golfer differ by 2/3 shots max around the green, its distance and accuracy from the tee that clearly counts more #shotscope

Its the start and the finish. Play the first 3 holes in one over and the last three holes in one over and you drastically increase your chances.

I broke 80 once but on the back 9 I blew up to 90!!!😂

For me the problem is big dispersion with irons plus inconsistent chipping. I need to find just 5 more strokes....

Attack the par 5’s if you can see where the ball lands. So much easier for pro’s with spotters along the course!!!

It's amazing how many strokes you can cut playing social golf 😂 so annoying the amount of times you can see it go into a certain section of rough only for it to disappear once you get there

Missing greens in regulation by 60 feet!? Is that a thing? Im picturing someone 100-130 yards from the green and spraying it 60 feet right with a wedge. That's seems rare.

Basically you are saying, it’s all of the above. Improve your distance and accuracy of the tee, hit greens in regulation, improve your short game, and don’t 3 stab, and we didn’t know this??

What did you expect when clicking on the video? Him to say, that you just need to eat your vegetables and to give you the words to the special prayer that has to be said to the golfing gods before each shot?

Went from a 15 to a 9 over the last two years with some simple, yet obvious improvements. No lost balls/out of bounds balls. No duffs/chunks. Minimize three putts. All working towards keeping a double off the scorecard. If I can do those three things well my scores come in around at that +6 to +9 number that I had set as my goal. And if not, well, there's always beers at the turn.

When are you going to tell us the distances for the female golfer? What's the target driver distance for a woman to break 80? It sure as heck isn't 230 yrds. Are the distances from hole/green the same for the male and female golfer at 8 HCP? I get the percentages in all the other stats may be the same or close to it, but whenever you mention distance please please please start giving the women's distances also. All your videos seem to ignore the female golfer.

I understand where you're coming from. But I never in my 25 years of playing have met a woman who was data driven. This stuff seems to cater towards men. Won't spend money on TABS, laser range finders, GPS watches. Golf apps. Almost like mimosas are more important.

OK lesson. Get good scrub. Not sure the aim should be break 80, but practice to eliminate the doubles.

This is too simple. What I would want is GIR WHEN I DON’t 3 putt 90% ? Of the time. I.e. at what distance does an 8 handicapper 3 putt.

    • @Pud56
      @Pud56 5 месяцев назад

I would suggest that changes course to course, my old course had large flat greens, my new course small undulating greens. It was easy to two putt on the flat greens, regardless of distance, the undulating greens, hit the wrong position, 3 putt a certainty.
