Rambo: First Blood is a 1982 American action film directed by Ted Kotcheff, and co-written by Sylvester Stallone, who also stars as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. The first installment in the Rambo franchise, it co-stars Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy. It's about a Vietnam veteran and drifter John J. Rambo who wanders into a small Washington town in search of an old friend, but is met with intolerance and brutality by the local sheriff. When the police restrain and shave Rambo, he flashes back to his time as a prisoner of war and unleashes his fury on the officers. He narrowly escapes the manhunt, but it will take his former commander to save the hunters from the hunted.

I know it's hard to believe, but that's not Stallone, it's actually Keith Apicary! It's easy to get them mixed up because Keith just has so much John Rambo energy that it's easy to mix them up!

The Christmas episode of AVGN with the Sega Activator and Keith flying through the walls will remain my favorite episode ever.

It's my 2nd favorite. Ninja Gaiden is my favorite AVGN episode and Mr. Bucket is the best Board James episode.

It's funny you say that I had the same thought to as a kid growing up watching this movie.
Yes it was like the film was saying; 'If you ever get lost and feel vunerable in the woods and notice a sheriff, run safely to the nearest psychopath'.

I think each Rambo movie has something to offer the franchise, Rambo has had one hell of a story arc (franchise as a whole). That being said, one of the most heart felt moments in a Rambo movie, was when Rambo goes to visit the relative of one of his war buddies only to find out he is dead, so Rambo gives the relative a photo of him and the war buddy. I was never in the military but I can see that if you served with other soldiers, it is nice to reconnect with someone you knew from your past once you return to civilian life.
That is some slick editing, James.

Not even well versed on filming stuff, but I was already suspicious just with the look, but the framing with the space between them was also a hint (I think James has used it for some AVGN reviews, not even counting the Friday the 13th one)

The irony of this movie, in the movie, he kills the 1 sheriff by causing him to fall out of the helicopter, in the novel however...he kills EVERYONE!!!!!!!
i liked the novels story, but i thought it was written a bit too simple, almost like it was ment for kids to easily understand everything
Not to mention the Col. puts a 12 gauge to the back of rambo's head and blows his brains out.
Actually it was the pilot and the incompetence of the officer combined that killed him. Rambo just threw a rock at the stabilizer .

I love the Keith Apicary character. His appearance on AVGN was a favorite of mine.
I love you can hear James trying to hold in his laughter during his speech at the end.
Brian Dennehy (the cop) was a Korean War vet. He had contempt for Rambo. Not shared in the movie but makes the story that much better. Love this movie!

I found it hard to wrap my head around the fact that the kill count in this movie is 1
Sly Stallone actually broke his rib in this movie when he fell out of the tree. His hand was injured too when a blank explosive squib blew up in his hand too
Stunts were incredible in that movie. One of my favorites is when the pursuing cop car flies off the road and lands on a fence, you hear that sharp honking of the horn. Subtle sound effect where you don't see what happens, but still know. One of those small things that bring authenticity. Cracks me up every single time. I still wonder if it was accidental or intended, or done in post.

Love it how at the beginning James makes us think that Keith Apicary was just edited last minute as an additional character that doesn't really interact with the other two since he was not obviously there simultaneously, just to later through the video blow us away at how all of them interact with each other.
So I just saw Rambo: Last Blood and it was Satisfying and Awesome. I loved a lot of stuff from it!!

I would guess that it was just for the plot of the show, so I don’t think they actually moved. He’s probably got a story that’s gonna fit into the “move” somehow in later episodes. There’s a reason for this anyway.

When Arnold made Conan the Barbarian, he actually fell down the steps in the cave at the beginning - it wasn't scripted. The side of his face is actually laid open in that scene. Him being new to the US & barely speaking english says "I'm bleeding..." to which Dino DeLaurentis responded "Yeah - just go with it." Arnold says again "but... but.... I'm BLEEDING." Dino says "Yeah, I know - it looks great!" =)
They just don't make movies like that anymore... which is both good & bad.
Maybe I am confusing something or it is just another part of it, but didn't Milius say to him something like pain is momentary, the movie is forever.
The Punisher 2004 is one of my favorite movies because Thomas Jane did most of his own stunts, you can tell he put in the work. Makes a movie amazing.

Rambo was definitely the good guy...
If you consider a man who kills another one just for the sake of following orders, yeah... he's a 'super hero'... the cops are worse, but his is no 'good guy' at all...
I am sure they make you feel that way with the cop that dies being an asshole. However, there are no goodguys in this film. This is not that type of film.
That cop who died was wrong for being an asshole and trying to kill rambo before falling and dying. He is the only one who can be labeled "A badguy". But rambo was not right for his behavior. This is a movie about a vet from the brainwashed soldier 60's era that went nuts in a civilian surrounding.
None of the other officers chasing him were "badguys", even the one in charge. And Rambo was definitely not a goodguy in this situation. Regardless of how good it feels to see a guy beat up on cops who were being dicks.

The Sheriff is definitely the bad guy. He shows his prejudice right from the start. "We don't want guys like you in this town" if he said that to a gentleman of another race, would he be a "good guy"? The main deputy is a bad guy, he took pleasure in torturing and shooting at an unarmed Rambo.

Wonderful! My only criticism is that James didn't cuss worst than a sailor and Nathan didn't attempt to kill himself by getting his head stuck in a dumpster or something.

Deathproof is relatively recent, awesome and real as fuck. The end chase scene with Zoe is one of the best chase scenes/stunt scenes ever.

It's funny, I just did a Rambo 3 video and of course had to mention how Keith LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE RAMBO!!!
I saw this as 4 and half yr old when it was considered “new”(movies took a ridiculously long time to go from theatrical to video,I think part 2 was in theaters by that point.) As a child of that age I knew nothing about social politics or Vietnam or the fall out from war,I literally thought Teasle felt Rambo was too ugly to be in that town and got arrested for it. That shaped my view of cops til I was out of childhood. It’s amazing and sometimes preposterous the things we believe as kids. I just remembered something else,I thought the title was referencing the part where Rambo gets his arms cut up falling through the trees,I thought he was meant to be so tough that it was the first time anything made him bleed. Who was letting me watch this kind of stuff anyway?🤣 this was the days where kids could do whatever they wanted as long as it didn’t make your parents look bad. Or maybe that was just me,I come from pure ivory garbage which is probably clear

He had to get the police station emptied out so that he could annihilate it, that was the only way. He didn't want to hurt anybody.
It's nevertheless the principle I know Rambo was pushed but Teasle was the only one he was after he could have just finished him in the woods he didn't have to blow up half the town after all not everyone has insurance
