@@cherryvintage4888 You have to do your homework about what each of your plants need because it can be quite different from one kind of plant to another. Most of our houseplants come from tropical or jungle climates, so you may need to mist their leaves with water. But some plants like to have just a little bit of water everyday so that they're moist but not drenched (plant roots will drown just like you and me if we can't get oxygen because our lungs are full of water). Some plants need a few hours of morning light -- too much light and they will get scorched/burnt, and others need bright "direct" light or they will drop their leaves and won't bloom. Some plants need a happy medium. You can try moving your plants from one window and then a couple of weeks to another and see if they respond. Houseplants also need to be repotted at some point. Snake plants actually like to be "root bound" but most plants don't. If you take the plant out of its pot and it's got a thick band of roots circling it, especially big fat ones, it needs a bigger pot. You can loosen the "root mass" by knocking off all the soil and running the roots under room temp water and gently loosening them a little with your hands before putting them in a new pot. People who know what they're doing also cut through the root mass or even cut off some roots, but if you don't know what you're doing (like you don't know what a tap root is) you may kill your plant. The new pot should be maybe two inches wider/deeper than the plant was growing in. And you need the soil line in the new pot to touch the plant at the same spot at the base of the plant as it did in the old pot - otherwise it could rot and die. You also need to repot plants after a year or two simply because all the good living things that were in the potting soil when you first brought it home may be depleted. Good soil is living soil. Fertilizer (unless its compost) doesn't feed those living micro organisms and it doesn't put any into the soil. Fertilizer is just a certain mix of minerals. Also check the underside of your plant's leaves periodically, especially if the plant looks sick. Look for any tiny bugs on/under the leaves and/or on the stems. You will have to do your own homework on how to get rid of the particular bugs (or diseases) you find - aphids, spider mites, scale, etc. You can also email a nice close up photo of your plant to the local Cooperative Extension service at a local college (usually in the agriculture department) and often someone can give you some ideas about what's going wrong. If you knock your plant out of the pot, by the way, and the roots are all mushy, then you overwatered it and the only thing you might be able to do is take a cutting off the dying plant and root it. You can't revive most plants if the roots are rotted. There are tons of good books on houseplant selection and care at the library, and even videos here on RUclips, that probably will help you grow beautiful houseplants. Make sure to pay attention to the scientific name of your plant (it's usually on the ID stick plants are sold with). It makes it easier to look up information about that particular kind of plant. Good luck!
Thank you for adding the pet info. I have a small apartment that I share with a dog and a cat, so it is hard to find a way to keep a plant completely away from them 100% of the time. I would love to see a video specifically about pet-friendly houseplants!
I grew my cat her own pot of lemongrass, and keep it in a window so she can lay down sun herself and munch. For ivy, use a hanging plant method, I have heart shaped philodendrons that like low lights, they are very pretty! I clean them by putting them in the shower a couple times a year, to dustbleaves individually is difficult. I have an indoor garden, and to keep the cat out, I use chopsticks around the pots as mini-spears. You can also buy cat grass, or the seeds, to start mini pots of them in a window, then rotate them by putting them next to animal food dishes for dog and cat to munch on. This will satisfy them and they should no longer munch your plants.

As a plant and tree lover, I have magnificent houseplants, ferns, Ivy, and spider plants. I also have a bay window that I installed a plant rack and grow lights to have an indoor garden in cooler weather. Green beans, peas, strawberries grow very easy indoors. Yes, all plants need regular grooming and fertilizer, plus need topped off with fresh soil at least once a year. Yes, plant roots ‘eat’ soil. I collect seeds from my parlor ferns to create fresh plants and give them away as gifts. My heart shaped philodendrons require low light, and I cut vines to start fresh plants, again to give away as gifts. Same with my spider plant, however it puts out so many ‘babies’, I cannot keep them all, and they get thrown away. They absolutely clean the air. When I come home from being out, I notice the fresh air when I walk indoors! To be fair to my cat, I grew her own pot of lemongrass and keep it in a window for her, she loves to lay and much on it. It has a calming effect on her and sometimes I catch her with her head laying in the pot, fast asleep!

According to some experienced, Spider plants likes dry soil.
Over watering it leads yellow on the leave tips as i experienced on over watering...
I'm crazy about all plants but out of this list it's the peace lily
I’ve had a Snake plant for about 5 years and still going strong
U put in soil or just in water?
@@maheway7880 it’s soil in a small indoor decorative pot, never had to change the soil, you just water it once a week, that’s it. I’ve even forgotten to water it so I dump a ton and it drinks it up over weeks
@@rayradiance666 thanks fr reply ,do u find any benefuts from this plant .
They are truly beneficial: put one where you exercise and breath newly created oxygen: its unbelievable!

I recently discovered that I am allergic to aloe vera, and apparently that is quite common - so test the gel on a small spot of your skin first 🍀

This video is so amazing...i been watching videos about house plant nowadays b'coz I was planning to decorate our house w/ plants... after watching videos of what plant is good, I need to check if that plant is safe to my cats. It's double work and time consuming...but this video is two in one so THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊
My favorite plant on this list is the white lily you talked about I'm going to go buy one right now I think I'm just going to go by 1 on Friday and I'm going to buy an aloe vera

I'm dying to have a Maryjane plant in my house. They say it is a stress reliever. [2020]
Really?! I’ll get 420 of them please ;’)
it can be stressful if for some reason it get mites and you do not catch them before its to late. I enjoy growing, harvesting, and now making butter. With the right light and you will be amazed what you can do. it being legit helps as well.
It’s good she named if it’s toxic to pets!
My favorite plants weren’t mentioned, monstera philodendrons are my favorite, philodendrons period , I’ve got at least 25 of them, what are their benefits? 3 birds of paradise, 5 pothos and 6 other assorted including two fiddle figs. I have a Peace Lilly in my home. It’s my first plant 🪴. I want a few more low light house plants.
Same here. I didn't know what it was at first. I finally asked what kind of plant it was after buying one of the same kind. 😁
I already have all but one of these inside ad out. I root and multiply.
Mostly all of them i adore, just because it is a natural gratification
