If you want any plant to flourish in water, don't forget to fertilize with a full spectrum hydroponic fertilizer. Regular liquid plant fertilizers are not sufficient. I grow a lot in hydro and also love displaying my snake plants like the way you did in this video. So cool!
@@jazy3091general hydroponics has a trio of good fertilizers floragro for leafs bloomgro for flowers and microgro for fruit (this works with the phases of each plants cycle)
After reading that they can grow in water, I transferred mine to water as an experiment, no pebbles or lecca, just water. 6 weeks on and all pieces are looking healthy and growing new roots plus I now have two pups. All i do is change the water weekly and give them good light (i haven't added any fertiliser yet)....I'm curious to see how long they'll survive.
Left mine in water for 6 months before changing it like once a month and it was fine. I was shocked how durable it was in water. Although growth all stoped about 2 months In I’m assuming cause lack of soil nutrients. They where still healthy after 6 months and whent crazy when I planted em.
I have mine just in water on a south facing window for 6 months now and they are doing amazing! The roots had completly covered the bottom in no time, the first pups are now almost as big as the parents and there are new pups everywhere. One of the first pups even grew a flower! I’ve never even seen flowers on these plants before!
Happy to see this enlightening video. This one, plus your root rot one, is ‘must watch’ videos for new plant parents 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (I would say though, don’t let the water go above root level, to avoid rot and to encourage roots to travel downward)

Wow, that’s art. I’m going to try this with the ones I have outside in a pot. They’re all a bit brown and look like they’re dying. Soon they could be works of art though. Fingers crossed. Thanks
Thanks for another very informative video. The snake plants look fantastic in the decorative jars. Could you make a video about how to fertilise plants that are growing in water? I would be worried I would make the "brew" too strong.
Regular standard liquid plant fertilizer for plants in soil is not sufficient for plants growing in water. You'll want to get a full spectrum hydroponic fertilizer. I grow semi hydro and full hydroponic.

I've always been confused by this. How is it a plant can be overwatered and die, while at the same time live in water? These would make lovely gifts. How often would the water need to be changed and would you have to redo the whole thing all over with each refreshing?
What fertilizer do you recommend for growing plants in water like this? Or if you could do a video on the nutrients and pH for hydroponics that would be helpful!
When you change the water every two weeks, do you just carefully dump water and refill without disturbing the plant, or do you have to take out plant and wash rocks?

Interesting, my snake plant looks quite different below the ground. All the stems are interconnected with the structure that resembles ginger or tumeric. I guess that the plant shown on the video was made up of single plants cuttings that grew in the same pot? 🤔 great videos btw

I've been growing one in water for several years and now I want to put it in soil but some of the outer leaves are limp. It's never done this before and all the other leaves look great. What could be causing this and what should I do when I transplant it into soil? I've put off doing this for quite a while because it has such a small root system, hoping the roots would grow larger and stronger so once it's planted in soil it won't fall over.
I was wondering if you could do this if the plant didn't have roots on the ends? I have some snake plants that seem to chunk off and I wanted to see if I could save them so I just put it straight in water...
Thx for the video! I was wondering what kind of stones you are using. Can’t find them in your links. Are the just there to hold the plant or are there other aspects to consider? Thank you so much!
