I like that the Blade of Olympus is moreso it's own fourth weapon than a simple rage mode. It has it's own parry and ranged ability.
And you have to be smart with it. You cant just spam like rage, you could very much still die with it equipped!
@@bennettrichardson322 Right. I like that. Rage Modes have always been a guilty pleasure for me. I just find them cool, but one thing I've never really liked about them is how using it basically just puts the game into "Unga bunga turn your brain off and win" mode. Like, all you really need to do is just spam the attack button and you win. But I like Rage Modes like this and Devil Trigger, where yes even though you are far more powerful, you can still die while using it if you aren't paying attention.
@@kin4386 Well event hough he changed a lot, He's more powerful than the time he wiped out whole Olympus. So when releases a bit more of his true power its normally win directly moment. He tries to control his own powers, he needs smart moves to control himself, not to win.
i liked the fact tyr also had four weapons. His spear, the nahuatl, those arabic swords and a katana. And Kratos has Draupnir spear, Leviathan Axe, blades of chaos and now canonically and finally the blade of olympus
@@elmati9315 Right. Tyr mirrored Kratos in a lot of ways, including having multiple weapons from different lands. This DLC did a lot for Tyr in my opinion. Dope character.
The fact that you can use this in NG+ is insane
It didn't work for me. I loaded up my New Game+ save file and I didn't have the new Spartan Rage. Hopefully that gets patched.

But I did get that screen where it did literally tell me that I can use it and Kratos' classic appearance in New Game Plus, but only Kratos' classic appearance worked. I still only have the original 3 Spartan Rage abilities. Maybe I need to start a fresh New Game Plus? I'm not sure.

Valhalla is a love letter to God of War's roots, and to the day one fans who have followed it ever since.
It really is and it's also much more than that, it is still infinitly appreciable even without prior knowledge of older gow games. They didn't have to go this hard but they did, it's so awesome man.

@@LeonardoSantos-vu5wi I would love remakes of the old games but in the God of War 2018 engine personally. I'm not a fan of the old God of War gameplay but I want to experience the story of the old games myself, and recreating them in the style of the new God of War games would be perfect for me. Maybe others would like the same hack and slash gameplay of the originals but just better graphics, but I'm just saying what I would prefer.

Even tyr states in some of the fights how terrifying the blade of Olympus is when kratos activates it and even asks kratos to put it away in some fights proving the blade is the strongest weapon in the series which shouldn’t even be a surprise. That blade literally one shot thousands of titans and had the ability to drain the abilities of gods.
And then Jesus snaps his fingers and boom no more kratos or blade of Olympus 😂

@@rainbowalex12akanhatduyvu95 in the Valhalla dlc you just have to go to select your armor aspect next to Eir and then click R3 for the classic aspect.
In the story mode you just have to click the touchpad to go the weapons/armor inventory and do the same thing with R3.

The fact that’s not even the full power potential of the Blade of Olympus. It can literally wipe out a whole place with all livings. The power of the blade comes mainly from the user itself.
No.. the unique trait of the blade of Olympus that made it so strong is the fact that it literally takes the power of gods it kills or simply just absorbs magic from whoever touches it. That sword literally had the powers of multiple gods including kratos god abilities from gos of war 2 which is why it was so powerful.
Yeah. Didn’t most of that power get drained out when Kratos unleashed Hope into Greece to counterbalance the Evils that was released when he was slaughtering the Olympians? I recall the Blade losing its blue glow afterwards, so it’s possible the Blade is back to its base level before Kratos went and dumped his Godly powers into it in the start of GOW2.
I like how the parry sound of the blade is nearly similar to the Golden Fleece in GOW2.
i love the GOW community i just recently bought both games and looking to play this and the older ones everyone is always so funny and welcoming i love gaming!
The sword lost its glow? Lore wise, i'm guessing because the Pantheon was no longer around to power it, so it lost some of its potency.
It has it in the awakening scene
after gow 3 the sword was just a piece of golden metal, this sword is a construct of kratos mind in valhalla, the glow is just an oversight from the devs
In reality the Blade of Olympus is more than a magical weapon, it is a weapon that can drain/absorb any type of magical/divine power that the wielder has, so the Blade of Olympus (even with the death of Greece) theoretically still It can be used since the user would only have to infuse his power into the sword.
So the Blade of Olympus can drain both magical/divine or primordial powers, in fact it is likely that Zeus created the Blade of Olympus with primordial powers, this can be said since Atlas mentions to Kratos that Zeus "forged the weapon into heaven as on earth". Although apparently the Blade of Olympus that appears in Valhalla is a construction of Kratos' mind and not the real one that we saw in the original trilogy, so it is logical and normal that it is only a fraction of how powerful the *REAL* one was.

He won't. He doesn't actually have the Blade of Olympus again. It was pulled from his memory of it in Valhalla, like everything else there. The Blade is still very much not in his possession.
i love the little details of how not only the tattoo is more vibrant on his original design because the tattoo is fresher comparative to the norse sagas, but he's also a lot more white with some grey because since the ashes hasn't faded yet, it's a thicker coat of it, the devs did confirm the layer of ash has slowly faded over time by gow 4 which is why you can just about make out some form of skin colour and texture in his gow 4 and ragnarok designs
If you guys are wondering where your blade of olympus went after completing the dlc, then all you have to do is go to sindris house and open the blue box after starting a new game . (Not sure what happens if u are in ng+ and u open a blue box)
I did it while already in ng+ before the dlc, you can still get the new rage and skin from their chest

Valhalla is literally the definition of “how to make a flawless and excellent DLC”. F2P for those who already paid 80€/$/£ to buy the base game, which isn’t a low amount of cash for most of the people. Then it actually fulfill the main story and give people a journey that can literally be life changing for some struggling with accepting what they’ve done in the past. And it gives an opportunity for the best aspect of the game, which is undeniably the perfect and addictive gameplay to shine. Gaming companies need to take notes

Aye you should try out the Ares build that I just found out, due to the rage meter only needing to be activated at the literal start of the entire bar, you essentially get an infinite mode of rage and you’ll be able to build up your hp every often with the stone drops! Of course it isn’t gonna do much damage as this but luckily whenever a healthstone drops and you smash it near the boss, it does massive damage, hope this helped!
There's also an amulet slot that gives you soul steal after breaking a health/rage stone that synergizes well with that build

@@bruno4299it’s heavily hinted that Valhalla perfectly recreated the sword for kratos to take with him even outside Valhalla hence the sword even being effective against tyr who wasn’t a construct of Valhalla. Tyr even comments and says how terrifying the blade is everytime you activate it and asks kratos not to use it.
Well... the blade of Olympus was never so good, in gow 2 for example 2 of its 3 special attacks are a bit rubbish, what's the point of taking orbs from enemies? not to mention that in titanomachy the reason why the titans disappear according to the cinematics is because of a lightning bolt from Kratos to send them to the future basically teleporting them, I don't want to be a spoilsport either, and in fact he has some good feats like being able to kill 2 entire armies without problems but I don't know, in gameplay at least not even in his rage mode he was a killing machine, I don't think he even destroyed the onyx.
@@martinc8965only a pitiful number of Titan are summoned to the future by Kratos, all the rest are send straight to Tartarus by the Blade.

From what I understand Kratos has 3 curses on him and one is making him age like a mortal man is too hence why he has a beard and a much older look in both games aside from the last trilogy and ghost of sparta and chains of Olympus. It was uncalled for but thank you Cory Barlog for giving Kratos younger look from the last games! :)

This Blade of Olympus it just an imitation made by Valhalla base on Kratos memory. This one is not the same blade like the original and just a little fraction of its power.
Good grief!! This makes even the Glass Ballista build with the Zeus armor pale in comparison. Problem with that build is that just one attack can potentially nuke it as it has little to no defense. This however has not only offensive close to max stats but defensive as well. This DLC is crazy.😲😲😲

Anyone remember Rage of the Gods? Gow1 rage mode. The most fun rage mode imo just endless combos and insane range.
Fun fact:
You can use the Blade of Olympus during the very first fights in NG+.
However, you must have a original NG+ playthrough, obtain the
Blade of Olympus, make a new NG+ playthrough on your original NG+ save, then switch to the according rage when you can.

If anyone ever played the og god of war 2 you would know the ultimate power of this weapon. Once you beat that game the blade becomes a regular weapon like the blades of chaos and dear god it can delete everything in the game.

Because most all rage mode doesn't have finisher except wraith mode that use only Blade of Chaos, Leviathan Axe or Draupnir Spears for a finisher move
