For the first question, Turn 30 percent into a decimal. This will be 0.3. Now, Multiply 0.3 by 1060, which gives us 318. Finally, subtract 1060-318=742.
Well. he already give to us the 10%he increased in this year. So now we need to find what is his first height ? And we go to this formal (percentage of increase =new amount(new height) _original amount (original height)over original height
He splits up 100 and 100 to make them 100% each and then adds 20% to one side which is odd because it technically equals 120% for the goblins if kept apart. While yes, technically speaking it is 20% more than the other side, the way he wrote the question you would think 220 is 100% and split it 60/40 which is 20 percent more for one side (132/88). I believe this is the more accurate method to calculate the problem and the way most people would do it if asked because you would be calculating the total sum to 100%, not 120%. The ratio if done his way becomes 55% and 45% because he added %20 more of something to the total, diluting the initial value he started with, making the difference now only 10% and not 20%
at 3:41 Sal suddenly made the wizards or W a 1? How does that make sense when it shouldnt have a number as we dont know what number it is u cant just make any letter a number, also at 4:19 he made the W AGAIN a 1, how does this make any sense!? Can someone PLEASE help me?
In the second problem I set it up as a 40% Wizards / 60% Goblins ratio (because the difference between 40% and 60% would be 20% and 40%+60%=100%) However when solving for 60% from 220 (100% )I got a different answer???
*His methods a stupid* I got a new method from an indian tutor - for example for the 1st question. Divide the 30% by 100 which = 0.3. Subtract 1 - 0.3 = 0.7 Multiply the 0.7 * 1060 = *742*

I've been going through the whole course and this is the only part I've been having trouble with. The quiz wording is intentionally confusing and don't match the methods in the video lesson and I'm not the only one who's having a hard time with it. I'm 45% done with pre-algebra it a week and a half and this 500 point portion has taken me 3 days and I'm only on the second quiz. This shits a nightmare...
Khan , normally I get your lectures but this one is too difficult to get😞
To be honest😞
I knew it wasn't only me.........this is way to complicated

You know what, this was my first video of Khan Academy and it made a bad impression, answering questions difficultly
Not to mention the quiz questions seem like they don't match the examples in the videos
Just complicated but as I listened and seen it being worked I can see, but not ready for this yet.

Dude didn't they do the first question simple he made it hard
please provide a simpler method for quest 2 if you can
My answer on the last problem is 148.5 because 10% of 165 is 16.5cm so I subtracted the 10% to his height
KIT Bro, you are very correct on that part.

I got the same result.
100%=220
20%=?
20*220/100=44
20%=44.(Extra Goblins)
50% of 220= 110.
50%+20%=70%.
110+44= 154 goblins.
(154/220*100=70%)

In the second way of writing it, I thought you had to use X over the 1060 and then cross multiply??

get 1.2 by adding 100% and 20%. in decimal form, 120% is 1.2.
hope it helps!

148.5 is wrong 148.5 * .1 = 163.35 165 / 1.1 = 150 150 x 1.1 = 165 = 150 (1+10%) = 165, sal did it right
