RUclips, is my teacher, thank you so much, exactly what I was looking for. I don't even bother going to the tutor station at my college, this has exactly what I want, explained slowly step by step. Thanks!
Can anyone explain why you can't do $12.60/6 guavas to get the price of 1 guava at 30% off. Followed by x-.3x = $2.1 to solve for x as the price of 1 guava full price?
Not really 7 but 0.7, if you want to find the discount price of things directly without minusing what number the % is of another number, you can minus the percentage as a decimal from 1, for example 20% is 0.20, 1-0.20=0.80, and 0.8 times whatever price your original price is will give you the discount price directly.
Anthony Audain you don't get 7, you get 0.70. You get this because he took 100% (which was x) and subtracted 30 (the discount) from the 100% and got 70/100 or 0.7
it's been decades since I've learned math,I was never good at it. I have a college test tomorrow and I've been exhausting my brain trying to refresh math skills, of all the teaching videos yours make it to #1! too cute your wife wants you to add the zero before decimals! thanks for all your help, little did you know!
This is Awsome so like becoming a teach is more easy just hook up ur computer to a larger screen and let the kids watch his videos and WWWAAALLA! :) if the kids dont get it theres always an replay button lol!
Bro he isn't writing on a computer, that must be walcom writing pad, we just have to write on that with a stylus and whatever we write on pad will appear on the computer screen.
Many of these lessons refer to level 1,2,3 or 4 linear equations. What is meant by those levels? I've been following the math OK, but still don't know what is meant by each of those levels.
So basically to do this problem is to get the 30% price and divide it by 70%. Why? because 100% take 30% leaves you with 70% , so there's simply 70% of the price to add to the 30% to give you the full price. (100%) right? So when you get the 30% price which is $12.60 divide it by 70% which gives 0.18 then to get the full price you multiply by 100%. Therefore finally getting the answer of $18.00.
12.6/7 = 18 12.6 is discounted cost. 70 percent is the remaining out 100 percent from 30 percent simplified to 3 from 10 is 7. Then divide the 6 into 18 and get $3.00 each. BAM!!!! Oh wait that's not right 😂.....or is it.
Here's another way to do it: On sale: 6 guavas cost $12.60 So on sale, 1 guava should cost $2.10 (I divided by 6) BUT, this is only during a 30% sale. so that means I am only paying 70% of the original price. SO, when I pay 70% of the original price I end up paying $2.10. Let's translate this to math (% means divide by 100) (X represents original price) (70/100) x (X) = $2.10 0.7X = $2.10 X = $3 So the price of 2 guavas at original price would be simply 2 x $3 = $6.
Original price(x) - 30% of original price(x) = $12.60 1x - 0.30 • x = $12.60 0.70x = $12.60 Divide both sides by 0.70 to find X 0.70x/0.70 = $12.60/0.70 x = $18 orig price of 6 guava = $18

well 12 actually
when I guess on a math test I get 7/10 right and then when I actually try I get 4/10

you can, math is a world of multiple solutions to problems, you'll get the same answer for a full price guava either way you approach it
Quality got SOOO much better

My dad didn’t know how to explain it to me for 3 days but after we saw your video...
NOW I KNOW HOW TO DO IT...
In Philippines you’ll learn percentages and algebra in 3rd grade I was shocked when I came there for the first time I didn’t know how to do the math

This is exactly what was looking for!
This is really helpful! Thank you so much! also, enjoy the Guavas!
Detailed explanation was expected.
Thanks anyway I usually watch many chemistry and bio videos which are usually very helpful.
Wow that was awesome
Well explained
I think I am going to pass my math test 😀
I love ur writing😁
if i had a nickel every time he said "guava"
Very helpful
Im on 6th grade they don’t teach us that so I’m happy I could learn this ty!
Ugh im so stupid! I still dont get it
Thanks for the help, but there is a much easier way.
Thanks!
HELPFUL!!! P.S im using my dad's Laptop :D
Cool kool
nice xD
thnx khan academy

nice
Good finally a good one
it helps me so much thanks
@aj hedlind F U
i understand now
Sal, when your wife asked, can you buy me 2 more guavas, you should just have said no.
How did you get 0.7x from 1x - 0.30x ? I'm fully understanding that
Think of 1x as 100 then do 100 - 30 ( 0.30 ) which = 70 = .70=.7
think of 1x as 100%. 0.30 is 30%. So, 100% - 30%=70% which is equal to 0.7. Hope this helped :)

It's got to be an easier way
12.6÷70=0.18x100=$18÷3=$6
How do you write so good on the computer

Could anyone please explain for me why he subtracted .030x from 1x? And relevantly when do we have to subtract percentages?
Thank You Khan Academy ❤️
"@m4n4h1l
think of 1x as 100%. 0.30 is 30%. So, 100% - 30%=70% which is equal to 0.7. Hope this helped :)"

Hello sir can u give the answer of this question if a class has 32 students and 8 are apsent what percent of students are apsent
Rehan Champ9999
The answer is 75%
You subtract 32-8=24
You then divide 24/32= 0.75 & that would be 75%
Sorry I’m a year late 😂
@@selenaperez2872 lmao...what. the answer is 25%....check your math again
Where did you get the .7x?
Thanks! #salmanKhanisthebest!!!
This is 6th grade math? I see this on the DAT and I still struggle with it. Kids these days must be way smarter than me.
how did he get 0.7
i really like the word guavas
why guavas
Why is 1x - 0.30x = 0.7x
guavas are getting pricey these days.
OH GOD I HAVEN'T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION IN SCHOOL AND IM GOING BACK TOMORROW
Im confused
don’t you just hate it when your wife bugs you about not putting the zero before the decimal
30% - 12.6= 8.89
people these days thinking about guavas
Ahaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahah waw nice thingking
12.6/7 = 18
12.6 is discounted cost.
70 percent is the remaining out 100 percent from 30 percent simplified to 3 from 10 is 7.
Then divide the 6 into 18 and get $3.00 each. BAM!!!! Oh wait that's not right 😂.....or is it.
You gotta like his video at least for his software lol
facts
Droid 2.0 ?
yep
Droid 2.0 what do you mean by facts?
He has very good software.
Oh ok... 1x is actually 1.0 it's in the ones place. So you are subtracting 1.0x minus 0.30x = 0.7.
And what are guavas
A frut famous in phillipines green and yummeh
this is liiiit
When Sal gets .7 X he’s taking it away not adding that’s why he gets .7 X
0.7x? What? Please explain.
Admit it, you only chose Guavas to say
*GuAvAs*
Yep 😁😆
Those guavas are expensive...
How you change ur RUclips name
1, what r guavas, 2, why r they so expensive?
ok this was helpfull but im confused
What is guava
It's a tropical fruit with green skin and pink insides.
and its realy yummy
really yummy...
a guava is a tropical fruit
sounds like a melon/cantalope
I dont understand
Here's another way to do it:
On sale: 6 guavas cost $12.60
So on sale, 1 guava should cost $2.10 (I divided by 6)
BUT, this is only during a 30% sale. so that means I am only paying 70% of the original price.
SO, when I pay 70% of the original price I end up paying $2.10.
Let's translate this to math
(% means divide by 100)
(X represents original price)
(70/100) x (X) = $2.10
0.7X = $2.10
X = $3
So the price of 2 guavas at original price would be simply
2 x $3 = $6.
Sal is scared of his wife, that's why he is adding zeros before every "." , which he usually doesn't. 😆
but why did we times 0.7 I don't understand pls help me
Original price(x) - 30% of original price(x) = $12.60
1x - 0.30 • x = $12.60
0.70x = $12.60
Divide both sides by 0.70 to find X
0.70x/0.70 = $12.60/0.70
x = $18
orig price of 6 guava = $18
X-.30X. Why does the .30 have an X ?
Sal is the Dovahkhan
how do you get .7 i-
i got $5.46...
The heck is a Guava?
rlly, ya dunno
ya dumb as f
+hocadidilyocutt IT IS A FRUIT!!!!
However, in this case, this is rip-off guavas
he uses bandicam and look at his fail 4:38
"Did I say avocados?" :D
Sarahgoesmeow+ I agree
i got 8.82 for 3 guavas,,, isn't it that obvious that if you buy less, you will pay less.?
jk
Wait!! Percentage is for grad 6!!! But iam grad 5😱😱😱😱😱😱
"Wife" . 😂
:_: HAPPY FACE
wow and i forgot all ready -.-
Sal, just tell that lazy wife of yours to get her own feet to the grocery store to buy her own guavas
I am still confused how 1x became 7
x minus 0.3x is 0.7x
x has 1 coefficient
1.0
- 0.7
---------
0.3
those guavas are a little over priced:]
you get 7 because you took 30 percent off
i dont know lots of percentages
0.7x :/ help ?
I didn't really understand.
Sorry I am out of control😥
