Okay but imagine you hire a private investigator to follow around your daughter's fiancé bc you have a suspicion that he might be cheating, the P.I. tells you that the fiancé gets into a mysterious car every night but he doesn't know where he goes, and then the P.I. promptly disappears. I mean I seriously would've thought the fiancé fucking killed him or something.

This entire movie was just “I was born in the wrong generation”
The whole message of the film is the opposite, as can be seen in his last talk with adriana. Whichever timeperiod youre born into becomes stale and boring, as normal life takes place, so you yearn for a seemingly perfect era. Only to find out that also would become stale and boring with time.
So the message is to make the best out of your life without crying for a seemingly perfect past.

Interestingly enough the guy, Paul, Inez is cheating with is a perfect match for her. He's just as entitled & selfish as she is. I felt sorry for Paul's wife. Just like Gill, she had no idea Paul was cheating with Inez too
At least based on my high school experience, I've seen a very unfortunate type of sad, insecure woman that will still be with a guy even if she knows he's cheating on her. It's like, they value the guy and the status of being his "partner" so much that they prefer to be together with that guy and get cheated on, than being single.
So maybe Paul's wife knows (that her husband is spending so much time with some other woman), and tolerates it.

Just because Gil never slept with any of the past women doesn't make him less worst, I mean the fact she kissed Adriana is already passed from a mere emotional cheating imo. Also, at least Inez admitted she cheated but did Gil ever admit/realize he also in fact did in some way? If they didn't love each other just say it & move on there no need to cheat to end the relationship. It's sad that this movie just end by potraying Inez as the bad person only but they didn't make Gil admitted his own wrong doing.

@@zero-yf8yy as far as I know from WW1, French soldiers welcomed the black American troops, and were probably treated equally to some extent. Definitely much better than how the US treated them. But I'm not sure if thats because France was in dire need of soldiers or they were more used to black presence in their history

I just wanna say this movie was very charming and pleasant, the soundtrack does a great job. A lot of people (like myself) don't like watching entire movies, but this movie was well worth it.
With the amount of movies Marvel characters are together in, I'm surprised the TVA hasn't gone and pruned them.
it's funny that every famous person just knew each other apparently.
I mean, yeah? A lot of artists hung out in the same groups and were well aquintanted. Although I must admit that the film kinda takes it a bit far

I love these time travel stories. I was a History major in school and would love to meet these figures of the past 🙂
Do yourself a favor, if you watch nothing else from this film, find the scene of Gil and Dalí. Adrian Brody gives a genius performance that has me in stitches every time with deep, painful belly laughs. That’s all I’ll say about it so as not to spoil it for you.

The present is dull to those who live it. But fascinating to those who didn't.

Look, if you can, separate the artist from his actions. Hell, Chaplin was a gifted movie maker and a child molester. Allen's movies can be brilliant. Annie Hall, Manhattan, Match Point, What's Up, Tiger Lilly? What's that saying? Hate the sin, love the sinner.
