Hi, if I have my bitlocker PIN but I do not have the recovery key and not able to log into windows. Is there any way to retrieve my bitlocker recovery key through DOS prompt using the PIN?
Sorry J Dee, as the title says, this video covers a situation where you can login with the Recovery Code/Key, hence why it refers to the Start Menu. If the pin and recovery code won't work, there's no way around it that I've found. If you're not sure where your Recovery Code is, try this video: ruclips.net/video/AZlGZLDWnIQ/видео.html
Hello. How do you find your bitlocker recovery key if you had never set it up, is not there in your microsoft account and you cannot reset the laptop because the drive is locked?
When i installed a new harddrive in my laptop i pater for Windows 10 home but It automatically updated to windows 10 pro. I got no option to save a bitlocker key, and Iam locked out of my computer, pls help.
Informative... Thanks for the video.... however I’m facing an issue where the boot itself is interrupted by bitlocker and it does not allow me to boot the windows on the drive. All of this what you explained when the OS is up and running - what could you suggest in situation like mine because I’m stuck without help ::model I’m using is ASUS X 205TA Thanks
i really need some help I have a hp laptop with windows 10 and when I put the pc on bitlocker is asking for a recovery key but I don't have this what can I do
i really really need help i reset my loptop and then after that it requaire me the bitlocker how can i get that i dont know whats my bitlocker please help 70 days i have been not play games so help thank you.
Hi Sodina, When you turned Bitlocker on, you would have been asked "How do you want to back up your recovery key?" You can't skip this stage, so logically, you: 1. Saved it to your online Microsoft account (good news as it's not on the PC) 2. Saved it to a local file (bad news unless you then copied it off the drive or emailed it somewhere) 3. Printed it Can you remember which you did? If you choose Microsoft Account, just log into the below URL to find your recovery key: www.onedrive.com/recoverykey There are couple of methods I've seen to try to bypass this if you genuinely have completely lost your Bitlocker pin, and recovery key. They however rely on an outdated version of Bitlocker that had a flaw, or on the drive being a secondary drive such that you still have unencrypted access to the drive that encrypted it. I've never tested these bypasses, and suspect they are not reliable. If you've lost your recovery code, you've likely lost the data I'm afraid.
sir artex can u help me i have thesame problem as yours. but i cannot get any recovery in onedrive. it says. this security code sign update on 10/15/2018. i need to wait it for 1month?
Joy Mochizuki would be good to understand the exact message you're getting, and where this appears. Is this a message you get when the pin fails on the initial boot screen? and does the Recovery Code still work despite this message? It doesn't sound familiar, but I can hopefully make sense of it with a little more detail
Hi Natty, I'm not sure I properly understand. Do you mean you have the Recovery Key, but the machine is rejecting, saying it is invalid? I don't have an instant answer but would to understand your issue so I can think about any logical steps that may help.
How many times does the Bitlocker recovery key work if we have a seem server with the bitlocker recovery snap in configured and sync'd with active directory?
Kody, I'm not aware of any default limit to the number of times you can use the recovery key. I'm aware of a feature to force single-use keys, but that is not default. We sync bitlocker recovery keys at work to Active Directory, and I seem to remember they change every 6 months, though I seem to remember this is invoked by a third party product. So long as you're syncing them to AD, it's just a case of making sure you never delete machine objects until they have been wiped (at which point you no longer need the key).
Hey mate. How do you sync Bitlocker recovery keys to active directory? Does it require some sort of paid for software? I was under the impression they've ripped the needed feature out of windows group policies.
Anyone can help me plz i just watched another tutorial video on how to get out of the "blue screen of death" and now it saying there is no more recovery options and i can't do anything somone help
Hi Aymen, if you can describe your issue, someone maybe able to help. From the point of view of this video specifically, if covers the situation where you can get into your device only by using the Bitlocker Recovery Code (as the pin itself has stopped working). If your issue is slightly different, you'll need to provide some detail to see if anyone can point you in the right direction.
how to get the code you writed in from the start off the video is it just a random i dont have nothing not a usb with the code or somthing in my microsoft account pliz you ned to help me i have all my work in it and if i lose them i will get fired plz i beg you i can pay you plz man
Hi Swaper LP, not sure if I can help, but I will certainly try. When you turned Bitlocker on, you would have been asked "How do you want to back up your recovery key?" You can't skip this stage, so logically, you: 1. Saved it to your online Microsoft account (good news as it's not on the PC) 2. I just got my Key ID ! Tell me how can I get a recovery key...... ! my drive is locked and there's no option like manage bit locker...... only one thing it shows and it's the horrible format option ! I don't want to format....... and am currently using Windows 10 ! tell me something to get a recovery code........
If your machine is prompting for the code (not just the pin), and you don't know it, I'm not sure there's a way around this unless your machine is a company one (recovery codes for machines on a domain will be sync'd to Active Directory). The recovery code is something you're asked to print/write down after encryption, but maybe worth checking anywhere you'd naturally keep such things, in-case you've forgotten that you did in-fact make a note of it.
Checking on Windows 10 machine, I see Hyper-V as a feature in the feature list. It could be worth starting with the basics and making sure you have the latest version of VirtualBox. I would then carefully check both the BIOS/UEFI for a virtualisation setting, and the feature list for Hyper-V, as they are likely to be there.
Hi Ehsan, it's worth checking that your recovery key is 48 digits of pure numbers. I've never heard of it failing, though I guess damage to the relevant part of the hard drive maybe able to cause this. My only thought for now would be to triple check the recovery key. It's usually presented as a series of 8 x 6-digits, with hyphens in-between.
Yeah that is good. I was nervous too when that stupid bitlocker got into my screen. Shutting and restarting my laptop didn't help. I am glad your pc is working fine now!
From the blue Bitlocker screen? I pressed the ESC key, in-line with the instruction in the bottom left, to get to the "Recovery" screen, this is where you enter your "Recovery Code" (long and painful code)
