- Howdy folks - I don't usually do content looking at cash for ships, but I meet people everyday who don't fully understand the mystical world of CCU's, LTI, Melting, Buybacks, The CCU Game etc etc. Ultimately you're all capable of making decisions about whether or not you want to buy a ship so if I can help you save big bucks on your purchase why wouldn't I?

Excellent timing on this CCU video Guns, its really valuable for people to be aware of how this works before the major sale starts 👍
Yeah I always struggle with cash for ships content but I think it’s an important tutorial to have.
@@LoudGuns I've always appreciated how you approach things. That all you need to play the game is a basic package. But I'm one of those people who wants to spend money on a few lti ships. I first learned the ccu meta shortly after iae last year and wish somebody had told me a couple weeks earlier so I could have understood the sale better. You are doing great work as always!
@@gawaynlothian2572 yeah I made a total mess of buying my first ships 😂 and tbf I’ve probably put more money in / got more ships than I want because of unpicking that mess!
With a pledge you don't just get the game, you also get 30Ks, double elevators, infinite inventory loading screens and much, much more completely for FREE!!!
So much value 😂
@@LoudGuns You do need a proper portion of patience for it.
@@0Apostata0 you just need to accept the fact that the game is in development, and those MINOR bugs are ok, if you are a mature person with good brain you don’t feel the problem, priorities are something else
@@deivoc4950 At what point, or when is it warranted to be pissed off, because of waiting? 15 years. 20 years, 30 years? When can we expect a working product, which we paid for?
@@0Apostata0 it depends on you man, the community is full of haters, growing cause in the last quarter the most followed sc creators became salty, negative and sarcastic.
You have all the rights to get pissed of but you have to keep in mind the scale of the project, the funding sc received is high, but never compare to the big names..$500m spreaded in 10 years and not as a starting budget is clearly peanuts compared to other games..
IMO the release depends only on how many star system they want to have at the release, I would say 3/4, maximum 5 years and we have the game released ..once they’ve finished sq42 and they go full immersion on the pu, with all the new tools won’t take that long as the past.
One addition to the Pledge Buyback, is you can buy back pledges with new money at any time. The Buyback tokens are limited to just buying back pledges with store credit.
👍 sorry I could’ve done that better - you always come back to these type of vids a day or two later and facepalm at one bit of it or something you missed 😂
@@LoudGuns The whole thing is confusing enough as it is. If that's the only omission that someone points out, I'd still say you've done a bang up job.
That's a great explainer! My conclusion is that CIG has money making all figured out with these convoluted terms, FOMO-inducing events and discounts and a steady drip of delicious ships that are for jpg enthusiasts like you said. I bought an Aurora starter pack years ago when they showed screenshots of Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson. Last year upgraded to Cutter during IAE since its a little more versatile as a starter. Won't be buying anything else till more of the game's framework is known.
Useful & informative video as normal, I like your straight talking approach interspaced with humour! Still not sure I fully understand this stuff, might need to watch this a few times!
Thanks mate! Yeah it can be quite a bit of info to absorb, but don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Honestly, fantastic video. I thought I knew CCU chains but watching the part of the video where you break it down from the STV to the Perseus made me realise how much I can take away from this, cheers mate.
Thanks Dexley - there’s always new stuff to pickup!
@@LoudGuns hey quick question, I just tried the same parameters as you going from STV to Perseus and the chain only said to go straight from STV to Perseus with a saving of $5.5, am I missing something?
@@mazzamattproful ccu game only shows what you can save right now
if you do this at the end of the IAE sales
@@rolanders7553 so if I do this again during the IAE sales it will show me savings more like what's in the video?
@@mazzamattproful yes I normally do it the last 2 days of sale
Best explanation of this process that I have seen. I actually have a Titan with LTI now. STV-> Titan and saved $5. Not a big jump but your video gave me the confidence to give this a try BEFORE IAE 2952. Thank you.
Although I have no plans to buy anything beyond my starter pack, this was a fantastic video explaining a lot of the jargon I kinda-sorta understood but not fully, and especially what these CCU chains I keep hearing about actually are and how they work.
At the end of day though, it just reinforces my decision to earn all of my ships in-game instead of trying to play the complicated CCU game. I have no qualms about buying cosmetics, but I want to experience the entire game's progression from the ground up when it finally releases.
Man thanks for this guide!
Specially taking it slow and explaining clearly
Thank you, I think, I Finally understand. It seems like other videos. I have watched on these topics assume to much and you broke it down perfect!!!! Others also brag about getting ships WAY cheaper than believable when in fact they have been crafting a chain for Years... This defiantly does not seem like it can happen over night.
Thank you for making this, something that I have been waiting on from a trusted source. You have done a great job keeping it clear and straight forward with the process of CCU's. Also thank you for the links as I did not feel comfortable using a plugin for my browser just to run a CCU check run to see viability.
Also you make excellent points about the whole ship purchasing for money. One great example is a purchased ship with insurance vs LTI. You are right CR did say we will not loose our purchased ships really so yes there will likely be some mechanic perhaps fleet maintenance costs that may be the barrier of return entry as the hurtle vs LTI ships of simply filing a claim.
Thank you again for making this video as it is greatly needed for the calm clarity especially when the behemoth of the Hype Monster is looming for Nov 18th IAE. : )
Looking forward to the IAE to see how things go and hopefully we will all be enjoying the fruits of 3.18 this Christmas Holiday in the PU !
My friend wants to buy a Carrack during the next event and thankfully I saw this video. Sending him a link. Thank you for this explainer!!!
I applaud all the people who see fit to buy pixels for big bucks. I bought an Aurora MR starter pack that included SC42. Set me back about 60 bucks. I think that is a pretty fair deal and that is all I ever plan to spend on this game. I don't see what the possible value is of buying pixels. But I have to grant that the folks over at CIG seem to be pretty good at their marketing game. Regardless, it was a very interesting video to watch. To see how CIG is actually trying to convince people to separate themselves from their hard-earned money.
Nice vid, thanks. Funnily enough I just CCU'd my way to a Persius a few days ago. I've been in the 'verse a long time so I have a bunch of really old $0 CCUs, the best one is the Vanguard Warden to Banu Merchantman. I went through 5 or 6 CCUs on the way to the Vanguard, so I was able to get my Perseus for $175. So glad I picked up all those $0 CCUs before they quit offering them. I had plans to pick up several more things, but my internet was out for the full day the last day of the sale, so I'll have to wait for the next sale to get my liberator and Orion. The liberator will cost me $240 in new money and the Orion will cost $235.
Great guide, best I've watched this far! Love the login free / extension free scorg tools ccu , but I really wish it had an extra column for showing if LTI is included or not.
Great vid. If you like a ship and think you want to buy it you can usually find someone in game willing to lend you one. You should always try a ship before you buy it. Weather it's loaned to you, free fly, rented, or you just do the in game grind. You may find you actually hate it. It may exceed you expectations. Free flys have kept me from buying two ships I hate to spite everyone telling me how great they are.
A really good shout - try before you buy with aUEC, buy with aUEC before you buy with $$.
Very well put together and narrated ! You've earned my sub.
Nice! Glad to hear it mate!
I mostly have been slowly upgrading most of my ships with CCU for years.
Love your intro, it's so old school
Wow!!! Think I need to go through this vid a couple of times....or more! Totally in depth and clear lang without all the BS! Holly Molly.....it is not just a game anymore.....it is like an investment!!! LG great vid and Thank U for taking the time to fix it!!!....Think I need to jump into your Discord channel...cause I might have some ? regarding how i should proceed to be able to get some of my dream ships permanently and with LTI.
I am part amazed, part confused, part offended and part thankful for you making this video.
Amazed of how much the SC ecosystem looks more and more like a pyramid scheme, amazed of how you the veterans of the game can twist and turn your way through CIGs (unnecessarily complicated ) pledge system to get your jpegs at such savings.
Confused, because I can not understand how it is necessary to make such a complicated system, to simply supporting a game (mind you, we're not even considered customers afik).
Confused because getting the very best deals involve more complicated procedures then any found in actual game play (go go go spread sheet warriors).
Offended, because CIG seemingly do this on purpose, to milk the most cash from new players. Not to mention the advertising and information about a game that is wildly misleading.
As I see my self still supporting and enjoying this game, I am grateful to you among others taking the time to explain a lot of the complexities of being a supporter.
Thanks
Still confused, but getting there
And, when you talk about saving, you are referring to new cash savings, right ?
So to even get to said Perseus via ccu chain, you prob already have 100s of £€$ already spent on the game?
I kind of got all this, so I gradually increased my in game 'bank' so that I one day can have access to the ships I like.... Damn, this game.....
Informational, Interesting and realistic.
Great video!
I do love ❤️ my spreadsheets. One tab for the fleet and another for my CCU chains.
Spreadsheet enthusiasm is to be admired 😂
Thanks for the guide. explained everything pretty darn good mate!
Cheers Sam! Much appreciated!
Best ccu description I’ve heard yet. Thanks much m8.
Cheers bud!!
Thx for the information. You filled in some gaps for me.
Indeed very helpful information. Now i'm clear on all of it, but i will keep my one purchased ship. I don't find it hard to earn money in game so initial purchase of mustang in 2015 got upgraded to prospector and from there i can make all the money i need to buy in game. No need to put any more $ into it.
Chiming in , I've been a backer for about 8 years now. I had the initial aurora package. After a few year upgraded to a Vander titan, over the past year I got into play regularly and bought the nomad and upgraded to a cutlass black about 2 weeks ago .
In my opinion I regret upgrading to anything beyond the initial package,
To be honest, with the game as it is still bearing alpha, I don't like that I spent so much money (even if it was only like 100 bucks) to a game still in development. Don't get me wrong, I love playing the game but I feel that I'm slowly indoctrination myself to buy for advances in the game. Seeing the subscriber (purchasable) armors, paints, etc is very tempting. Knowing this will be eventually be free in the game, I really don't want to prevent myself from "playing" down the line, because I've already bought the items and ships I've wanted to try
Highly sensible view - no notes. 😂
Genuinely I think if you stop right where you are you’ll be fine. But I agree when we get into the realm of cap ships for cash you’ve lost a big slice of gameplay
« Savings » yeah :D
Good video, thanks for the multiple reminders of *not* needing to spend so much on the game! CIG’s FOMO game is on point.
Yeah Savings - with a time of caveats! 😂
Really helpful, thank you! I was confused about CCU’s but this has cleared it up.
It is all pretty darn confusing 😂
Thank you god empor loudguns
You are most welcome 😂
your content and the presentation of it is imho one of the best out there! o7
Great video as always Loud. Made it very easy to follow and understand.
Great stuff, always useful to refresh my knowledge before a ship sale :)
Indeed, there always seems to be more to know 😂
Excellent video, thanks!
If the same effort were placed in finishing the game as they do with coming up with new ships we would’ve finished playing the main campaign and a few DLC’s by now.
Excellent content. Thank you for spelling it out nice and clearly!
Thanks Valmore!
Thanks Loud, really cleared out some questions i had
Glad it helped Grandt!
While I don't understand why people feel it necessary to spend hundreds of dollars on items they can earn with very little effort, playing a game they would play either way, I'm glad they enable the development of the game.
Perfect video for right now! So good too!
Yeah it’s the right time for it :D
Good video I’m just not 100% sure on how the ccu thing works can anyone explain differently no offence loud guns
Very informative and helpful. Thank you!
No worries - glad it helped!
I was going to CCU a Hull-C but my total savings as of now would only be about $37.50, so yeah maybe next year
Remember everyone getting into the game, you do not need to spend anymore real world money besides the game package ship. Don’t get wrapped up buying ships if your finances don’t allow flexibility.
Couldn’t agree more
20%! how absolutely wild is that. Don't forget you all used to be strong enough to run the world, we would all understand if you cleared your government.
Swear I've watched this before, however I've gotten conflicting info on a pledge ship ccu chain. Currently my pledge package which was a mustang, has been ccu'd to a reclaimer. I've been told if I melt the pledge I only get the original 45 back, not the 400,or that I get the 400.curious as to what one it is? Also is it possible to buy a pledge ship with store credits?
Great video ty ty
Cheers
Can you also just directly upgrade your ship or does it need to be done like this? So for example, just from your current ship to a warbond then this to a warbond and so on
I bought into this game a couple years ago probably more like a year in some months ago but then I found out my computer wasn't big enough and would not download it even after I erased everything on the computer which kind of screwed up the computer too but it didn't really screw it up too much that's when I found out I needed a bigger computer but I bought four ships and it was a few more ships I wanted to buy one of them was somewhat of a big ship or actually made two of them might have been but relatively I was trying to buy more ships for smaller situations for a case I needed to take from the smallest ship to the biggest ship to learn how to fly and not the biggest ship but to the small ship to the other small starter pack ships to fear to fly and do some things of course then I didn't have so much concept about this game and listen to you and a few others I learned a lot more about the game and I'm not exactly sure who's promo code I use but I use someone's promo code to get into the game and yet I'm still not able to play meaning I have to get a computer more for the game that'll actually fit the game on it and I do not know how much of a bigger computer I need I'm thinking probably something like 2 TB.
2tb Should be plenty but the best thing really is to have the game loaded on an SSD. I have a 500gb SSD which houses my operating system and star citizen (admittedly not much room for anything else), then I have a 2tb HD for storage.
Best bet though is to check out min specs on the RSI website.
Great timing!
Or terrible timing - I feel like an enabler now. Need a shower 😂
@@LoudGuns hahaha, I guess spending money in an informed manner is still better than wasting it in all the wrong ways.
Did anyone notice that the ability to purchase ships is currently down? You can click add to cart, but cannot get to the cart. Tried it from multiple machines and browsers (With different profiles and cleared cached info)
Wondering if there was an uptic in purchased STVs for the lifetime insurance, or if its just a coincidence.
Just a FYI, I had the Blue STV in my cart from earlier, and it still had the lifetime insurance on it. Thank goodness that I know the URL to get to the cart, which still let me purchase it with the lifetime insurance.
Note: You can't buy back upgrades at all, only the underlying ship but for the price of the underlying ship + upgrade.
cool beans
Yeah, wonder how they will handle non insured pledged ships once "released".
The only thing I can imagine is some form of very long claim time (but it ultimately coming back to you).
@@LoudGuns yes, could be fair.
At 16:20 I have a question. He mentions that if you melt something, you will only get what you put into it. Does this also apply to ship upgrades? If I get $20 in savings on a ship, does that mean my upgrade value will be $20 under its base price? New to this stuff, and trying to make a plan for myself to get a nice ship. Thanks
Hey mate - this is a bit of a (needlessly) complicated thing so if this isn’t clear at all my best recommendation is to hop into our discord via the link and have a chat with some of the people there who’ll be happy to help and look at specific examples.
But: “melt value” only applies when you actually melt something. For upgrading you go off the actual ships value. So if using warbond CCU’s you get a ship that’s worth $220 for $200 you would add $30 to move up to a ship worth $250. However if you were to melt that same ship you would only get the $200 you put in back as store credit, you wouldn’t get the $220 that the ship was valued at.
@@LoudGuns hi, thanks for the quick response. That definitely makes perfect sense, you do a good job explaining it. Thanks for clarifying for me!
Last IAE, one of the lads got a $155 saving on a CCU chain to a crucible.
Yeah 30% or so should be doable in the course of a single sale.
The No CCU to hull limited has always annoyed me, as my original pledge waaay back was the constellation before any variants even existed. Then when the Phoenix came out I wanted to upgrade it to that but couldn't :(
Damn that is annoying. I believe you can always melt and use credit to buy a Phoenix but you’d need a game pack as well since it’s only standalone.
@@LoudGuns Yeah that's the thing, my game pack is one of the original physical game packs that comes (if it ever releases) with a box, statue, and CRs signature. Don't really want to melt that :D
@@JohnVanderbeck Indeed. One thing I can recommend is taking a little bit of a “don’t ask don’t get” approach. Raise a very nicely worded ticket with support basically just outlining what you’ve said here to me - backed before the split out, don’t want to melt pack because of the rarity & sentimentality of it, but would love a Phoenix. They might be able to do something for you, and if they can’t you’ve only lost the 5-10 mins the message took to send.
@@LoudGuns Yeah of course I did that :) Sent a ticket in a long time ago through Concierge and the response was basically no we aren't allowed to do that. I accept it, I just don't like it and think they should be allowed to make exceptions in cases like this :(
just in time for IAE. thanks!
Yep was the right time to get it out I think!
Decent guide. More importantly, can we expect an accordion musical intro at the start of your videos? I hear space shanties will soon be fashionable.
Get me to 50K subs and I’ll deliver a space shanty for y’all complete with accordion 😆
@@LoudGuns I'm certain you'll get there before we hit Beta. You continue to be the most thoughtful and least fluffy SC channel. I always recommend your guides to new players.
Which ship is the red fighter near the beginning in the expo at 4:53?
Nice one thanks
No worries mate!
All ships you buy with cash should come with Lti
Nicely done I got my Perseus in Invictus LOL along with some other big ships that I should not have got :D but they look cool .
I started like so many only getting ships that they what at the start of a wipe. but when the game comes out will there be wipes ? so they are only there as to keep from the PU testing stages LOL and when the game is out just at the start is easier ( less of a gride ) but does this then take away some of the game ?.
I dont know but for me I see myself parking my Vulture in my Crucible and flying out to salvage ships and repair the one that is still standing lol I hope I can do this but we will have to see
Yeah some key Q’s in there. I’m not too worried about taking away from the game because by the point we get to live there needs to be more than “grind to buy x ship”.
I don’t think the plan will be to have wipes after live. There’s always a potential but probably a key selling point is that long term it’ll be a fully persistent world.
How do I get the Constellation Phoenix this way?
At $350 is just toooooo much 😭😭😭
But if I could get it for $200, it could be worth it 😅👍
Unfortunately the Connie Phoenix is in the hull limited bucket so it just is what it is 😞
How is it possible to upgrade TO a warbond vehicle? I was just looking at it, going from a STV to a C1, and they only let you upgrade to the non warbond versions.
You can upgrade via a “warbond ccu” when one is available but there isn’t currently one for the C1.
Loud guns, the concept sale for the spirit C1 ends tomorrow. Is it worth holding off getting a cutty black to C1 CCU and wait till IAE in case they offer a warbond CCU for cutty to C1? If they don't then I assume the non-warbond cutty to C1 CCU will still be available during IAE? Also holding off the C1 CCU means I could CCU to the Cutter instead if it looks awesome. Thoughts?
Yeah if it’s not on Warbond you’d be able to get the normal one for $10 anyway - highly unlikely it goes up in price after 1 month. Seems like a good shout.
You don’t save money this way, you spend more since ship prices go up over time. However it’s possible this way to put in money little by little and go for that big expensive ship in the long run.
Well, if you lock in a ccu at the initial sale (e.g. Valk to Galaxy for $5) you can probably save money vs buying a Galaxy outright - over time you could probably get it for cheaper than the concept sale warbond price.
However, my word of warning is people often think about how much they’re saving without accounting for how much they’re still spending.
You do save money. I have a few old $0 CCUs. One of them is a Vanguard Warden $260 to Banu Merchantman $650. That CCU cost me nothing many years ago and it alone saved me $390. With that and a bunch of other CCUs I was able to get my Persius for $175. Unfortunately, they don't do $0 CCUs anymore. But another ship that will likely go up a lot in value when it gets released is the Orion. Get and hold a cheap CCU until that happens and it will give you nice discount on maybe a Polaris.
I tried using the ccu game app and it said I don't have any. Im confused. Do I need to buy more ships to get the discounts?
First you might need to link your hangar to the ccu game, but ultimately if you haven’t bought any CCU’s before you won’t have any - check in your hangar on the RSI site and select “upgrades” from the drop down. If you don’t see anything there you don’t own any CCU’s.
You didn't talk about CCUs with insurance from 10 years to LTI (it exists)
Some base ships include name reservation.
Skipping that isn't really in the interest for people who like to fire on all cylinders...
You forgot to say “Actually” 😂
Will someone help me CCU and get the best deal on a Corsair? I'm Autrio in game
Hi mate - join the discord if you like where we have a channel for chatting through more specific questions & people who will help you out.
Well shoot disappointed to hear about the hull limited ships needing to be bought outright. I was hoping to build up to a Phoenix.
Yeah was the same for me with the Pioneer - I really want one but I’m struggling with the idea of just laying out $750.
@@LoudGuns does your CCU game still have old warbonds displayed? Mine doesn’t have those.
Are you still doing the monthly ahip giveaways?
Unfortunately not - I had a couple of instances of scammers targeting me and people in the comments so thought it was better to use the money for giveaways / prizes within discord where it’s easier to avoid that stuff.
If I want to change my srarter pack, will i lose my acces to the game ?
Yes, you need to rebuy the pledge if you melt your starter pack.
Not necessarily. Access to a game comes from a game package. You can upgrade your ship through a CCU and that retains your game package. It just swaps what ship is in the package. You can also melt your entire game package, and then you would need to buy a new game package.
@@BrocKelley What did I just write?
All the right info here already but maybe not quite crystal clear.
You always need a game package if you want to play the game. So you have 2 options really.
1. You could upgrade the ship in your game pack to something else. If you CCU upwards you’d still have the game pack attached to the new ship.
2. You can melt your pledge containing your game package but in order to continue to play the game you’d need to buy another game package. You can’t play the game if you’ve only got what are marked as “standalone ships”.
I don't think they'll take away our ships forever no matter if we paid real money or not for them, maybe, real money ones get 6 months insurance for free, or LTI, or 10 years, whatever, but my guess is that if at some point, you don't pay the insurance of your ship of real money or not, they won't give your ship back until you pay, lets say, you have to pay 2000 a month for the insurance, you pay it, nothing wrong "Here have your ship" but, the moment you stop paying a ship insurance it starts to add up, they won't say anything ut when you destroy the ship and want to get it back, you'll have to pay all the months that you haven't paid, if you didn't pay for 6 months you'll have to pay 12.000 credits, maybe with an added fee so you pay the insurance in time next time.
2000 per month, 20.000, I don't care what number but it would be a nice way to make the insurance, it's not overly punishing but it's something, maybe add an extra 1000 or whatever to keep your components in the ship.
👍 makes sense as one potential solution. Unfortunately most other space games are way more savage when it comes to these things but time will tell!
just remember guys .The casino never loses.
The devil is never a maker , the less that you give, you're a taker!
Bro seeing these prices .... this game is is just a money making scheme lmao. $6000 for a virtual ship?
Definitely not wishing to trivialise the amount of money but think you might have 10x’d the numbers a bit? Still it’s a shit tonne for a JPEG no cap.
your code is not all there
🪐
:)
👍
Here's the real answer, don't waste your money because it's a scam. Anyone who buys these over priced pledge ships is just a fool.
I think the term scam is a bit overused. But I do agree with the sentiment that you don’t need to buy anything more than a starter pack.
Best video out there !! Well done very detailed !! Now i understand ! Thank you LG
Cheers mate! Much appreciated!
Holy SHIT!! In the UK they tax you 20% ???? Wow as bad as the US is in some ways at least the Gov isnt bending me over like that. In Florida my tax is 7% to buy something
Yeah it’s all swings and roundabouts at the end of the day - more tax but more services etc. And I’m always conscious that some people have life a lot worse than I do so the fact that me buying my jpegs means they can still access healthcare etc for free leaves me feeling pretty good 😂
did this video need to be 30 min long?
Not everyone wants a 30 second video. Go watch Noobifiers.
I kinda feel it did tbh mate.
How does a British person even run a computer capable of playing Star Citizen anyway doesn't that come with a $1000 energy bill at the end of the month? KEK
Yeah it’s not quite that bad but it’s not great. Just need to upgrade my GPU so I can turn my heating off though.
