I've removed my bumper multiple times for headlight removal. Same as you with front PDC, washers and foglights. I never had to remove the grill. Only the 5 torx on top, 3 in each of the arches, and like 9? Underneath. Very weird that you had anything attached behind that grill
George, a video idea: n52 ground cable replacement (part 12427549393). Helps with starts and an old one can cause various electrical issues. Since you have two n52’s on the channel, this would be a nice idea to do. Also, there isn’t a proper video on youtube about replacing it, it would be nice to have you make a video about it!
Today I've crashed my E82 on the front, front bumber is off and also right front light hanging just by mighty force of jesus... jsut kidding.. but there is a lot of fixing to do and this vid will def help me :)
I've got tyr same car, same colour, same issue!!! I'm looking at just completely replacing all brackets and bumper then getting a respray. Out of curiosity how much did you spend on repairs? Or did you just make do with what you had?
both my front bumper and bonnet are crying out for a respray. Loads of tiny impact hits from stones on the motorway trips. Could just be in your case it has had a bogus paint job done with little prep work put in. Especially with black paint which is the hardest to get looking perfect.
I’m wondering…if you replace that broken trim piece under the lower bumper lip…could you use a heat gun (judiciously) on the lower lip to reform it to its original (higher) position?
Hi mate great vid , heat gun does amazing things i work in my family body shop , carnt fix a bodge george with regards paintwork bumper will come in at £180 for paintwork would advice replace and respray motor if a good buff wouldn't fix price gona be around 2 grand , will look amazing after. Video about replacing door window weather guard strips would be great !! Thats my next job on the e90 .Good luck George well done mate
Cheers mate. Yeah I was expecting around £2k for a respray but I’ll probably wait until the thing is perfect mechanically and interior is sorted before getting it done👍🏻
how do you jack your car up? one corner at a time or front end up on cross member? also i fitted bilstein rear shock covers, they are shorter than the bmw ones, just a tip really, if you reverse car up a ramp first, push the shock covers down before jacking front up as they can catch the shock and crack.
Last week, a woman scratched my rear bumper with her car, i have some small scratches on the bumper. Nothing horrible. The insurance company told me, that the car is totaled, because the value(price) of the car and prices of the spare parts+work(repairing and painting) is unprofitable. So it looks, that i am without car now. 😳😳
I was gonna say just spray that bumper up till I seen the crack on the side George. Getting a good spray job over a cracked bumper is just gonna annoy you, I’d look for a replacement bumper definitely, probably hard enough to find with the PDC
If you buy a bumper without any of the PDC or washer jet holes they are easily adapted to fit the PDC and washerjets. The PDC brackets are available on ebay for £50 and I believe all the holes are already marked out on the inside of the bumper so you can drill them. A bit more work, but if the right bumper isn’t available this is a good option.
You could get an original BMW Performance bumper. The one that cancels the fog lights for two huge brake ducts :)
My brothers bumper looks like this on the underside, but the rest is ok. I look forward to seeing how you fix this, i need to investigate.

@@GeorgeAusters yep and yep. As I said, identical. Just a different colour 😂
Mines a 2009 MSoort and likewise I’ve never had to remove any bolts from under the grill.

I need to replace the bumper and get a full respray at some point
It might be easier to get a replacement front bumper, do the prep for painting by the bodyshop yourself and save a few quid.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking but may be better to wait for the full respray👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters get a used one? Would be a lot cheaper. And no hassle with paint shops etccc
@@piovo1 Very very very rare these bumpers

Possibly yes, very shoddy work all over this bodywork mate👍🏻
I would just buy a new bumper, look for an M1 optic or EVO1, they're really nice.
I was thinking 1M but then I thought I want to keep it original
@@GeorgeAusters Yeah i meant 1M, fair keeping it OEM.
Totally agree original all the way, another great video George👍
@@GeorgeAusters leave the Frankenstein creations to Matt Armstrong 😂
That bumper been dragged off a high curb, there meant to be flush with undertray on I believe
That's what I was thinking!
@@GeorgeAusters I had a same problem with broke tabs aswell, a heat gun should get it back to its original position

May be worth trying at least for the time being!
This is exactly what I did with my bumper, it got caught on a kerb which caused it to hang lower than it should.

Good job!
Thanks!
Have it repaired unless you can find a really nice one for the right price
Great video

the gap is still bad on my 1 series its much closer
You’ll have balance the value of the car with the cost of repairs!
This car is only gonna go up in value so it’s worth spending money on👍🏻
