    As bad as smoking is, the Marlboro brand is amazing and synonymous with F1. Also produced some incredible liveries

      Aldas and the cigarette brand funding was essential to F1. They allowed for the fastest drivers to be hired instead of teams having to hire a decently fast driver with lost of money behind the, like nowadays. Not great brands but they created the best eras of F1

    If you want an idea of how obsessed Marlboro are with still advertising in F1, have a look at one of their trucks (they appear quite a lot in Ted Kravitz's 'Notebook' videos). The design on the front end is a Marlboro packet.

    As bad as smoking is, tobacco companies were the life savers of so many racing teams, and ultimately the solution for a full and competitive grid... as soon as tobacco liveries weren't allowed anymore i had the feeling, that the grid started to split up in two classes. the big ones, and the ones without the money...

    • @theant9821
      @theant9821 11 месяцев назад

      That happened as soon as tobacco companies arrived. When f1 became too expensive for constructors to fund just by selling their own racing cars.
      As Lotus upped the ante with gold leaf everyone else was forced to do the same.
      And the rich/poor divide began.

    W temacie sponsorów to mamy kolejny polski akcent w F1! Kubica to wiadomo, ale zaczynają się pojawiać również polskie firmy. Ostatnio sponsorem RedBulla został FuturoCoin. To firma z rynku kryptowalut, a że ten rynek oznacza innowacyjność i nową technologię, to przy Formule 1 pasuje doskonale. Brawa dla FTO, wyprzedzili konkurencję :)

    • @aslamnurfikri7640
      @aslamnurfikri7640 5 лет назад

      Then they would race with national colours like the old times. Italian teams using rosso corsa, German with silver, British with green/red. French with blue, US with white/blue. Sponsorship is inevitable as F1 has become more and more expensive. And F1 has massive coverage so it makes sense for companies to put their logos on the cars

    • @theant9821
      @theant9821 11 месяцев назад

      @@aslamnurfikri7640German traditionally was white. Only Mercedes had adopted the silver after enjoying success with their unpainted aluminium cars before the war.
      BMW used white, on the Brabham, Williams and its own cars.
      Porsche sports cars raced in white before sponsorship took over.
      Since then some others have used silver also with Mercedes having associated the colour with Germany (though technically speaking silver is not a colour).
      British racing green. Some brm gad a red nose or white nose to distinguish one driver from an other not as part of British racing colours.
      The most notable variation would be the green and yellow which became Lotus racing colours.

    Was gutted when they banned cigarette sponsorships in F1 cause they've produced some incredible liveries over the years; the Mild Seven Renault, JPS Lotus, Camel Williams, and the Marlboro McLaren just to name a few.

    • @theant9821
      @theant9821 11 месяцев назад

      Didn't even notice camel ever sponsored williams until recently. I remember Lotus and Bennetton.
      But camel williams wasn't a significant presence on the williams livery.
      Williams was running the Canon livery from 85 which remained almost unchanged until rothmans in 94.

    Surprised Santander didn't make the list, nor did BAT who tried to run two cars from one team in different tobacco liveries, only to be told they couldn't, so cut the liveries in half and zipped them together either side of the BAR cars.
