'I'm here to make you save money on whisky' - the guy that made me spend triple the amount on whisky since discovering his videos
haha I'll take that as a compliment! You would have spent far more!
You deserve more attention. Lots to like here… I was reminded to check out your channel by a fellow viewer and creator - Geoff at GWhisky on RUclips. I was previously a sub but you took a wee sabbatical I think(?). Enjoyed this line up video with a GS15. A distillery that’s making leaps and bounds of improvements I think, very glad to see you pick it up too.
oh man! Appreciate you stopping by and saying such lovely things. Shout out to GWhisky for the referral!
What Roy said. Liked and subscribed. :)
Never heard anyone describe a whisky as 'astringent' before! But man, this is such a brilliant line - my personal favourite - so I'm glad to see a review for the whole line. That 15 is my absolute favourite in terms of cost-quality, so I'm glad our opinions line up there!
Overall loving this full line review! Hoping for more of the same my man!
Cheers bud!
I never tried these but the 10yr is one of my favorites.
Bravo for doing a multiple review or a theme of a distillery like Chris Goodrum. I've only had the Glen Scotia 15 and 18 (and a dram of the Victoriana at a tasting) and whilst they languor in the shadow of Springbank and Kilkerran at least you can buy the fucking stuff. The 15 is better than Springbank 15, in my opinion, and I really like the 18. I've only had one bottle but I'll return. it's personal and there's no need to agree. (In our insane zeitgeist we must all agree or we are enemies.) By the way, I'm encouraging people to partake in your noble endeavour to taste whisky on our behalf. Peace. WT
Thank you, good sir. Probably some variance in the 18 that I have. Weird.
good job on these reviews, and also good job on yt for recomending your content to me. subbed. keep it up, dog!
Thanks for the sub Jay !!!!! Appreciate it.
I really enjoyed the Glen Scotia run through! Also, the rating system you’ve added provides a helpful point of reference. I should give them a try before the prices raise too much or disappear haha. Campbeltown whiskies have been flying of the shelves the past few months in the states.
Thank you for stopping by. I'll keep the rating system in mind and stick with it. Tried a slight change in format. Hope it works.
Great video review and so nice to have a rundown of several expressions from the same distillery. I happen to have had the 15 and Victoriana (54.2% batch) open at the same time - agree with most of the tasting notes but my scores for the two are reversed. The 15 started strong but went downhill as the fill level dropped. Victoriana just got better and better, and took water well, until the last pour.
Good review i like your style. Agree with your results. Subscribed today.
Thank you Jimmy! You won't be disappointed.
I have a bottle of 15 year old. It cost me $80 US. It and the Double Barrel are the only Campbeltown offerings locally, and I have lots of sherried whiskies, so I opted for the 15. I like it and it took me some time to identify the flavor note I liked, but it came down as 'toasted marshmallow' with caramel and toffee. I'm quite surprised that this has not passed through a sherry barrel. It will be replaced when it disappears. The Victoriana seems to be the rage with Scotch drinkers online. One of these days, I might actually get to taste one of the Springbank line...probably far from home.
Unfortunate that Springbanks are so low on the ground. Hope you catch a good one.
Just subscribed. Im drinking the new seasonal cask strength from Glen scotia. Its good but at £75 don't know if I prefer the victoriana. They are similar however the new seasonal 12 has more of the sea spray and a sherry component. Im happy with it and am only on my 1st dram so a long way to go before I can make a judgement! Thanks for doing what you do: I shall be back!
Thanks Jack!!!!
thanks for the review! I load up on a couple of vics an have 4 btls of the 15. Ive not had the chance to try the others but i dont know if i need to
Well, you won't know until you try won't you?
@@MaltActivist indeed! I have 2 bottles of double cask en route to me 🤟
@@SarawakPollster ah! Drink em in good health, sir!
@@MaltActivist and now also have the 18yo... btw i really liked the double cask as well!
@@SarawakPollster Well? what did you think of the 18?
Nice review! Where did you see no color added on the 15? Cheers!
I think I may have made a mistake here. Seems like there's some e150 in play here. I just wish they would make it clear on the labels so that we'd all know. Thanks for pointing it out. Cheers.
@@MaltActivist No worries, wish they'd end coloring. It's archaic and insulting to consumers at this point. They must know they're being called out esp on social media. And competitors that don't color are making it clear (no pun intended : ) that they don't So, why won't they go natural? Light colors equate to lack of complexity or perhaps, esp on non-chills, the juice would appear cloudy? Cheers!
They all contain E150 except for the Victoriana
Malt Activest, love your reviews. Are you doing your reviews from a liquor shop or at home ❓ The background is a great looking stash if your at home.
I'm at home, brother. Just my modest collection in the back.
@@MaltActivist outstanding home stash me boy ❗💪 you should give us on lookers a tour of the entire stash sometime. It looks incredible from what I can see. Cheers 🥃have a couple 13,14 drams for me.
@@thedraminator6103 haha maybe I will !
The 15 is the value sweet spot IMHO.
Agreed!
Victoriana I beleive
I see...
I think they have colour added but they are good
Oh really? hmmmm
! ! Wet socks : bloody hell YEAH ! i've been chasing after this 18 profile for over 12 y since 2008 - GETTING A CASE of 6 ! . . . sure beat the "tobacco leaf water" from Auchie 18 ! ! !
haha nice one!
Sock sweat feel. Sounds like Bowmore 12. 😂
You're so right!
Sherry? Why?
Is it wrong to ask?
I seem to like a vatting of around 75% bourbon. Even that's a generous amount of sherry
