    She is arguably one of the greatest female voices of all time.

    • @ButtonPhonics
      @ButtonPhonics 11 месяцев назад +2

      That is not arguable as easily one of the best-- some would argue 'the' best but there are several contenders Streisand, Bassey for starters among others

    • @BarrysToolCave
      @BarrysToolCave 11 месяцев назад

      There are also others who would argue she is overrated. Judging a singer is subjective by nature, so opinions really mean nothing (my own included), but I feel Celine really lacks a lot of qualities a great singer "should" have. For instance, she has very little technical diversity, like singing "gritty" songs or singing outside of her tailor-made "safe" zone. She always sticks to pure tones only. I find artists like Barbera Streisand, Stevie Nick's, and even Floor Janson far more skilled than Celine in this regard. Their styles all bring more to the plate than just a pretty voice. To me, Celine sounds like a robot with a beautiful voice that follows a linear music formula.. There are a million singers in the world that can do that. Her music has no "life" or imperfections that give them character. Everything sounds heavily processed or hidden underneath vocal tracks.
      Don't get me wrong, I sincerely enjoy her voice, I just believe it takes a lot more than just a great voice to be "the best". When everybody starts calling her the best, I find it irritating and thus overrated. If I were to judge her as "the best" in anything, it would be specifically for her tone or pitch..in that regard, she may well be the best.

      @@BarrysToolCaveWho are you. Can you be like Celine? very easy to say. very arrogant

    • @BarrysToolCave
      @BarrysToolCave 11 месяцев назад

      @bionusantara-up2ft That is not entirely true.. she is only officially labeled as the best-selling "canadian" artist... that's it. Her highest grossing album sold 32 million, whereas Michael Jackson's thriller is well over 70 million (and still somehow growing). All of her accolades seem impressive but are also exclusively predicated to "canadian" categories or subjective formal awards like "people choice.""" I am not saying she isn't amazing, just that her statistics are often hyped up based on a few selected facts. Hence why I used the term "overrated" earlier. That is the literal definition.

    This was the first album she made after a two-year hiatus after having her first son but also..."the album's title, A New Day Has Come, acknowledged a new chapter in her life and career. However, she was also deeply affected by the events of 11 September and wanted the words to serve as a reminder of the tragedy. "It represents my child, because I gave life," Dion said. "Obviously, it also marks my return with a new album. But a new day has also come in the lives of other people because something bad has happened, because we've lost lives, because there's a scar on our world now".

    • @ChrisC709
      @ChrisC709 11 месяцев назад

      Whitney would have never duetted with Celine. She preferred more R&B/Soulful artists. And that's who she duetted with maybe the exception being Enrique Iglesias.

    • @NIKKI_NASH
      @NIKKI_NASH 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@ChrisC709I don’t think that’s true at all. Whitney also did a duet with George Michael. They probably just never got around to it before Whitney lost her voice/passed away. You could also make the argument that Celine wouldn’t have done it because she didn’t like R&B/soul artists. What duets did Celine do in that genre? People try to put them against each other but they are both phenomenal voices and each deserve their credit. I love them both equally and wish they had done a song together as well.

    • @davidchapman2213
      @davidchapman2213 11 месяцев назад +3

      I don't believe that at all. Whitney's first albums were pop/adult contemporary albums with a few soulful ballads. She was given a hard time by the R&B community for "selling out" or whatever terms were used because she didn't record music that was "black enough". This is not an opinion or trying to start any racist comments. Just speaking as a person who adores Whitney Houston and believes she has the greatest voice of all time. lived during that time, hearing the comments made by the media reflecting the public voice. There was a lot of mentioning this fact when she released the album "My Love Is Your Love" in 1998 by Whitney herself regarding her desire to start recording more music in the R&B genre. IF you listen to her earlier albums and compare to My Love Is Your Love, you can tell the shift. Whitney did a duet with Mariah Carey so I don't think it could have been a Diva attitude either. If anything, Celine and Whitney were in the same market as opposed to Mariah who had already shifted from pop/adult contemporary to R&B early on. They just never got around to it. By the time Celine was rising, Whitney had already started to decline vocally. Celine's first sign of megastardom was 1996 with Because You Loved Me. To early yet to duet with Whitney. By the time she would have been at a point to duet with Whitney, Whitney was deep into the fiasco with Bobby and missing from the music scene altogether for years. RIP Whitney... GOAT 4ever. @@ChrisC709

    I always associate this song with 9/11. It was played on the radio constantly around that time when we were all going through this collective trauma. Whether it was meant to or not, it brought to mind hope and renewal after tragedy. I've developed positive feelings about it ever since and still enjoy listening to it whenever I'm anxious. U2's Stuck in a Moment and Sarah Mchlachlan's Angel were also played a lot around that time when showing clips of what happened.

She had taken a hiatus of a couple of years after her Titanic success to focus on having a family and this was her return to performing after RC was born. Thank you for covering Celine! I love seeing peoples' reactions to hearing her stuff for the first time. I would also suggest trying out a song from her first English language album called "Where Does My Heart Beat Now". I loved Jay's synonym for nuances: the quivers. We all understand exactly what he meant. And Amber's pronunciation of ethereal cracks me up. 😂 The Kelly Bundy way of saying it. 😂

    This was just after the birth of her first child. I always imagine she's singing about her son.

    Celine does some amazing, haunting vocalizing on "With This Tear" written by Prince & "Calling You".

    Celine Dion is absolutely one of the best singers ever! Her voice is amazing!! Great reaction guys! If you haven't, you should react to the song Tell Him. It's a duet with Celine and Barbara Streisand. It was released in 97. One of the best collaborations ever!!!

    Fantastic vocal control! Great reaction! Keep them coming. I want to suggest, again! Rachelle Ferrell’s “With Open Arms”. While the studio version is great! Her live performance at the Apollo in NY is unbelievable! Talk about voice levels, she hits a note that sounds like she is whistling, but she sang it! I have to also mention, she is a great pianist! Please check it out. Also check out Chaka Khan’s “Woman Like Me” from 2022. Neither will disappoint! Both great for Female Friday!
