That is not arguable as easily one of the best-- some would argue 'the' best but there are several contenders Streisand, Bassey for starters among others
There are also others who would argue she is overrated. Judging a singer is subjective by nature, so opinions really mean nothing (my own included), but I feel Celine really lacks a lot of qualities a great singer "should" have. For instance, she has very little technical diversity, like singing "gritty" songs or singing outside of her tailor-made "safe" zone. She always sticks to pure tones only. I find artists like Barbera Streisand, Stevie Nick's, and even Floor Janson far more skilled than Celine in this regard. Their styles all bring more to the plate than just a pretty voice. To me, Celine sounds like a robot with a beautiful voice that follows a linear music formula.. There are a million singers in the world that can do that. Her music has no "life" or imperfections that give them character. Everything sounds heavily processed or hidden underneath vocal tracks. Don't get me wrong, I sincerely enjoy her voice, I just believe it takes a lot more than just a great voice to be "the best". When everybody starts calling her the best, I find it irritating and thus overrated. If I were to judge her as "the best" in anything, it would be specifically for her tone or pitch..in that regard, she may well be the best.
@bionusantara-up2ft That is not entirely true.. she is only officially labeled as the best-selling "canadian" artist... that's it. This song is about a spiritual experience, which for Celine was the birth of her son. Most artists will not even acknowledge such things exist today. The song is personal, honest, and emotional. I only listen to it alone so no one sees me cry.
This was the song I needed to listen to today. ❤ You guys just have to hear Celine’s rendition of “The Show Must Go On” by Queen! She sang it on an awards show shortly after her husband died and it’s such an incredibly moving performance. Also, have you guys reacted to any songs by Lara Fabian? “I Will Love Again” is a show stopper!
You should watch the video of her singing this in her Vegas show A New Day Has Come. She projects so much emotion because it was her return after having her son RC. This woman is absolutely beyond amazing!
Whitney would have never duetted with Celine. She preferred more R&B/Soulful artists. And that's who she duetted with maybe the exception being Enrique Iglesias.
@@ChrisC709I don’t think that’s true at all. Whitney also did a duet with George Michael. They probably just never got around to it before Whitney lost her voice/passed away. People try to put them against each other but they are both phenomenal voices and each deserve their credit. I love them both equally and wish they had done a song together as well.
I don't believe that at all. Whitney's first albums were pop/adult contemporary albums with a few soulful ballads. She was given a hard time by the R&B community for "selling out" or whatever terms were used because she didn't record music that was "black enough". This is not an opinion or trying to start any racist comments. IF you listen to her earlier albums and compare to My Love Is Your Love, you can tell the shift. Whitney did a duet with Mariah Carey so I don't think it could have been a Diva attitude either. If anything, Celine and Whitney were in the same market as opposed to Mariah who had already shifted from pop/adult contemporary to R&B early on. They just never got around to it. By the time Celine was rising, Whitney had already started to decline vocally. Celine's first sign of megastardom was 1996 with Because You Loved Me. To early yet to duet with Whitney.
