  • The Klim Ai-1 Rally Airbag Vest is for adventurers who want intelligent protection on- and off-road. Klim's system is fully wireless and autonomous, with both street and adventure mode crash detection options. The Ai-1 can detect danger to the rider and deploy the airbag in under 60 milliseconds. Additional features include a D3O CE Level 2 vented back pad, D3O CP1 CE Level 1 vented split chest protector pads, and a prestigious 5-star SRA rating. This test is being done by RideADV director Greg Yager.
Greg and his talented team has just reached a world first milestone on our Tenere 700's. 300,000km's (accumulated) plus across the RideADV fleet of Tenere 700's since late November 2019 without a single issue with the bikes. WOW. What a milestone. Tour and workshop owner Greg and his team have a video series that takes you through bike set up and aftermarket parts and accessories that have worked for our bikes and some that have not over the past 300,000km's of tough Aussie bush riding. If you have any questions regarding this or any other video please drop a comment below or reach out to us via our social media pages. We wish to thank our amazing supporters and sponsors Yamaha Motor Australia, Teknik Motorsports, Polisport Handguards, Adventure Moto Australia, Rival Ink, Pirelli Australia, Funnel Web and all our valued customers and supporters. Remember to like and subscribe to the channel and feel free to contact us directly for all your tour related bookings and questions. Don't forget we have our workshop available for parts and servicing.
Well done Yamaha for creating the unstoppable Tenere 700 and well done RideADV.com.au..

I have got the Alpinestars tech air 5 (much more coverage than the klim), but it gets hot when you are off road in the summer. As you said , the downside is that you have to send it off.

Hi Tim, what hydration pack do you find fits with the vest? I just bought a Klim too for desert racing. Cheers, Ed

Really on the fence with these. Every ADV rider goes down occasionally, where's the line where the algorithm decides you need the airbag or you don't? I've had higher speed crashes and dusted myself off and walked away, but that 10 mph low side might just drop you on a rock ledge and break a rib or two. No matter how good the algorithm is, it cannot know what you're about to land on. But if the thing went off every time you come off the bike, that would get unnecessarily expensive. On the other hand, something like the Leatt Moto 6.5 worn under an armored Klim jacket is always active and costs you nothing when you fall, but it's hard to know how it really compares in terms of protection. And of course that option offers no support for your neck. Tough call...
