    I have searched the internet far and wide for details on how to water my propagations, the internet is filled with them but no one talks about how to water them and how to care for them from the leaf plucking stage to a baby succulent stage. I became so frustrated because everyone says to just mist, mist mist! And that is exactly what I did to a three month old propagation I had going which finally sprouted a flower but because of over misting it died! And three months of patience down the drain!! So thank you so so much for creating this thorough video of how to water them because that is so so important for propagation success. I have subscribed to your channel! You are the first person I have come across that doesn’t skimp over these important details. THANK YOU 😊 once again and god bless!!

    I found 10 for $10 succulents today and I went ahead and grabbed ALL the dropped leaves from ALL the other succulents in the containers that were going to go in the trash.. So hopefully I will bring some life to each and every one of these or at least most or half🤷 ..I actually have had ZERO luck with propagating succulent leaves from my jade plant and thanks to this vid ,I think I know why. Thank u so much. I'm really good at propagating. Wayy better than actually growing them once in soil and once they take off. I'm not sure what I do wrong but I'm getting better!! • @SucsForYou

      I'm so glad to help! I physically cringe when I see someone advise others to 'mist' ... I wrote about that in my book The Succulent Manual because people need to know that 'misting' is a very misleading directive! Also try keeping a fan nearby if you can - overhead or desk/standing fan. The air circulation really helps prevent standing water on leaves, and give new baby stems a nice little workout!

    I live in MI. I was told not to water my leaves, even with roots because it will rot them. I have had some luck but dried out a bunch too. How much root should be showing before I add water? Should I separate different sizes of root growth? You also have mentioned drainage material. Is that what I should be using instead of my soil, sand, pebbles and perlite mix? Sorry.. Lmao my one question became many questions! I also want to thank you so much! You have saved so many plant lives. I would be lost without your videos and books, etc. I am so glad I found you! ❤️

    • @SucsForYou
      @SucsForYou  3 года назад +1

      Really you just need to experiment with different methods because not all leaves are going to respond the same way. I wouldn't worry about separating them - and as long as the roots don't seem like they're drying out, you may not need to water them. Sand and pebbles aren't recommended for succulents ... if the sand is too fine it can compact around the roots and your typical pebbles aren't porous and can trap moisture in the soil for too long. Soil and perlite are great, and I have a lot of info in my videos and website about other drainage materials :) I'm happy to help and hope you're enjoying the succulent journey!

    That's probably the most informative video on succulent propagation I've watched!
    But I still have some questions regarding "babies" (It's my first propagation of succulent leaf cuttings)
    I had a cutting with a small baby and small roots but mother leaf has reattached just a few hours ago so I planted a baby in a pot. A baby is small by itself (around 3 mm~0,04 inches) and has a really small root. How frequently should I water it or should I stop watering it till it grows bigger? Is a medium pot alright for it? (I'm in search for small pots rn, so I can only plant it into medium one) How deep am I supposed to put the baby into soil? Should I still water the ones with leaves? (they are in the same pot cuz I don't have other ones to plant them into)

    • @SucsForYou
      @SucsForYou  Год назад +1

      Glad the video is helpful! For a prop that small, pot size doesn't matter if you're not overwatering the soil. Just lightly dampen around the plant and it will wick to the baby's roots. Same for the props w/ leaves if they have roots - dampen soil around the plant and they should be fine :)

    I have tried to just keep succulents alive for a couple of years and failed but after doing some study on the subject I am keeping them alive and moving on to leaf and stems propagation. I understand the mechanics of doing this but trying to understand just how to treat the leaves and stems is not so easy. It is now winter in the North East and I was unsure if I could even do any propagation this time of year. Well, I have some pups showing up but am unsure of how to treat them. Like how much light do they need? I have been scared to get them wet. Since it is going to be winter for the next few months I have to use grow lights for my adult plants. Now I don’t know if I should keep put the propagations under the light or just use window light. I now have time to pamper some plants and I want to do it right.

    • @SucsForYou
      @SucsForYou  2 года назад

      I'd put them near the grow light but not directly under it until they get used to more light. They'll probably be slow growing or dormant this time of year. Good idea to keep them dry and out of direct light to keep the leaves hydrated long enough to produce new growth.
