Excellent use of the PantoRouter, Frank! Thank you!
Your video productions are extraordinary. We all know the time it takes to shoot and edit these works of cinematic art and we thank you for sharing with us.
We live in a remarkable world of caring and sharing and it shows through all of your work. The care you demonstrate by designing and executing precision in your builds is an important lesson for all of us, and your willingness to share your knowledge and experience is a true gift.
    Thank you Frank and Calvin!

I started watching this channel when the kids were in grade school, and because adults don’t change much from year-to year, I’m always shocked to see how quickly kids grow up. You don’t see them for a year or two or three, and suddenly they’re teenagers! Claire and Calvin will forever be immortalized as kids in my mind, since that’s when I was watching almost only maker videos, exclusively.

Another great video from Frank, combining his architectural sense of design with his pragmatic woodworkers sense of practical wood usage and sheet goods yield considerations. I always appreciate Frank’s explanations as they tie together with his visuals; it makes it so easy and to really get what he’s saying with what he’s doing. We the viewers get to see into his mind, so to speak. Thanks Frank. You’re making us all better woodworkers, thinkers, and dreamers. There’s always a little spark of excitement when another Frank Makes video hits the feed.

Having made big repetitive projects like this, I know the urge to simplify it to make life easy. In this build all those corners are not cut. In fact Frank goes the extra mile to make a piece of fine furniture where many would use basic Ikea garage shelving. Not to mention the videography, which is, as always, stunning. Thanks Frank. Superb. I did a project like this for a rolling shop table. It was not unlike Jeremy's, just portable and fewer drawers. I really struggled to keep my sides squared. I used plywood, and it just wasn't as controllable as the framed panels you made. Because of jointing and planing it would've been much more in my wheelhouse to treat those as perfect planar surfaces compared to, somewhat ironically, the plywood. For my small setup there is problem of so much dust collection. Then there's how hard such a project is on my jointer and planer blades. But, I guess that's why we buy the stuff. To use it! Great job.

Nice video Frank, I’ve built similar pieces for clients in the past usually for their laundry rooms. The first one I did was like yours with no intermediate lateral supports, the wood bowed ever so slightly and made all the drawers on one side of the bow jam an the ones on the other side sloppy. Client kept using it in this state for about a year and eventually destroyed 9 of the drawer boxes. After this disaster I always add a spacer across the middle of all the bays to maintain dimensional integrity. If it disturbs the look you’re going for paint the spacer black and set it back 2” it helps hide it.

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to combine that style of drawer with french cleats -- put narrow cleat rails on either side of the support rails and then cleat hangers on the sides of the drawers so that you can slide the drawers in at whatever height you want. That way you can move the drawers around however you like.

    • @80211Denver

Interesting idea. I wonder if slight bending from weight would make them bind and slide less? But then you just make the drawer sides 'taller' with the cleat at the bottom. Hmmmmm

One suggestion regarding aligning the drawer bottoms to overlap the correct amount: use a jig that has a rabbit at the top - the drawer side aligns with main jig and the rabbit is offset for the bottom to slide over the correct amount.

The struggle in being excited for the content and falling asleep due to your calm voice.... great video as always.

His calm voice is one of the big reasons why I like is videos. I really enjoy the way he narrates his videos. Also I like that he is not afraid of silence. In other build videos they have to fill every second with some type of music and how can you possible appeal to everyone with music, someone is bound to dislike your choice of music

So it's not just me... I often have to go back and watch the last 5-10 minutes of a Frank video because I often fall asleep.
      He's a calming guy!

LOL. Even I'm not a native english speaker, nor I life in an english speaking country, I had to speed the video up to 1.5 in order to not fall asleep. Anyway the content is really good and it's worth it !!!
