You are a hero, mate... Working on Ferraris outside in the cold... You are a sort of low cost Tavarish LOL! You deserve a big nice warm garage. Cheers from Italy
Confusing why with better quality vids, Ratarossa doesn't have as many subs as Tavarish? Let's go, sub, share, like and comment.
@@jeffmac3071 it's simple really. Tavarish produces more entertaining videos
@@seren1ty755 Mr. Hollywood!
Tavarish talks way more than actually does anything, or used to at any rate.
S RD Agreed! Too much talking is boring to me. I prefer to see the repairs and let the action do the talking.
Ferrari RO Line: “Client states engine will not start, advise.”
Technician Repair Story: “Percussive recalibration adaption performed!”
Labor hours: 1.0 (diag), 1.5 (repair)
Repair Total: $3,749.83
casually using a Ferrari boot lid as a workbench, gotta love this guy.
I admire how he works on a ferrari like he is fixing a camry.
I seen other channels were guys work on Ferraris and Exotics and they claim they don't have any experience in those vehicles but they say they know how to work on cars and cars are all the same so if you're intimidated by the vehicle name you'll never be able to fix it certain kind of philosophy I guess I could hold true if you have confidence in your ability and that's why he makes it look like he's working on just the regular everyday run-of-the-mill car because he's not intimidated by it I'm guessing
I mean, at the end of the day a Camry and a 360 are both cars
@@eugyscan at the beginning of the day a Camry and a 360 are still both cars
To be fair, looking at the state of it, I've seen better condition Camry's 😂
Camry's are probably more difficult to work on than an older Ferrari. There are some exceptions, such as the F1 transmission in a Ferrari.
It’s great to see you all that work in the drive way instead of in a garage like most other RUclipsrs. You’re really the antithesis of Shmee.
Oh fuck Shmee, that guy just loves to hear himself talking.
Shmee's a total baw sack.
A lot more likeable than that aspie halfwit
Shmee is afraid to get grease under fingernails... his manicurist will yell at him
that annoying prick shmee never works on cars
I absolutely admire you: not being afraid to get your wrench to dismount ANY part on your F's and even fix it! I would be too afraid to do more harm rather than doing something to actually fix..... BIG RESPECT for you Scott.....
That's one of the best things about this channel. Waiting on parts for the Boxer? Always another Ferrari to work on in the meantime :D Always nice to see the CS being worked on too
Another fantastic video! I really enjoy seeing you working on your cars, cleaning, fixing and replacing whatever needs it. Your knowledge and skill is a joy to watch!
Using USPS is like trying to send a package at the DMV!
Love how you work on your prancing horses in the British winter with axle stands and jacks lol really liking this channel 👌
I can sympathize. I live in USA and the exact problem with USPS happened to me in reverse. Parts for my classic SAAB from France made it all the way to my local postal station and then were returned to Chicago. I held my project for a few weeks then reordered from the vendor. 14 weeks later, I received a box that was DESTROYED and several parts were missing. Don’t know why they even bothered. You have no recourse you will have to reorder. The old adage applies “We offer service, quality and price you may select only two per transaction.” Reorder and use FedEx, DHL or other (FedEx was 4days @ $25 USD).
What is it with the US courier and postal services? Does organised crime in the USA own them? I have given up getting parts out of the USA and buy from UK, Holland, and Germany because of cost and time delay. We got from Superformance parts for our Dino 308GT4 including new front brake discs, front and rear suspension bush sets and front caliper seal kits within two days all the way to New Zealand, 12000 miles away, and at very reasonable shipping cost and this was just before Christmas. Can certainly recommend Superformance for quality of merchandise, prices and service.
Most expensive work Bench in History, probably.
Pretty fucking stupid.
@@PatBuckleyracecar his car he can do what he wants with it, dont be jealous
I was thinking the same thing hahhaha!! Ratarossa need a bigger garage now too many Ferrari, first world problem!
I’m sure snap-on products would be far more expensive😂
If you can afford a few Ferrari's, i'm sure you can invest in another shed to have a workbench and some proper equipment.
Love how you use the Ratarossa as a work bench.
360 interior needs some love bro ❤️
Absolutely love your videos Scott and I only found you by chance in the first lockdown as I watch the "Number 27" channel and someone mentioned you in the comments. I don't own a Ferrari but I am a complete petrol head and car nut and I find watching someone working on their car fascinating. It just so happens I love Ferrari's too!! I love your knowledge and how easy you make working on cars look. Keep up the cool videos matey! 😎👍
What a STAR... !
Really helpful information...tks Good luck with the air freight !
Looking forward to seeing how it performs after the re-mapping...
Nice quick starter refresh, had me smiling ear to ear when you utilised your "Testarossa workbench" cheers, Alex.
I guess Scott is the only guy in the world who uses a Ferrari as a workbench 😂😂😂
@@ricardomatos6316 I guess an actual Testarossa as a workbench must be a world 1st..lol 😦😦
@@alextripp1230 Indeed lol. Videos are great.
Super job mate! Thank Louis Dejoy for the postal delays.
Great content as always, keep it coming please - look forward to seeing the 360 get some love, and back to its former glory - ready for the summer...
You are the real deal Scott!! The best Ferrari video diy channel ever mate! Big hello from Zug Switzerland - Cheers! Just love the Boxer and Stradale builds!!
Cheers from the Texas hill country, love the content!!!!!!!!!!!!
Admirable - a young man's game without a lift.
Cheers Scott really enjoyable update and looking forward to the further work on the 360.🚒👍
I really enjoy these types of videos where you so how these wonderful machines work. Keep it going Ratarossa!!!!
You need to renovate your garage with two lift
Free up space
Store your cars
And do your tinkering without being on the cold ground
Not enough headroom probably. It’s the UK not Tavarish’s workshop or Hoovies garage!
Gotta love the old school "starter tap" with a hammer to check the starting system. lol I haven't seen anyone do that in years!
All kids are tought to be cowboys these days, indians are rare.
I've done it too many times over the years. Vermont is hard on starter solenoids!
Rocking it while in gear can sometimes un stick starters too much easier if your on a hill or slope.
Got me through lockdown No1 am sure u will get me through the next lockdown nicely, thoroughly enjoy your videos man💯👍🏼👍🏼
Love your videos - I keep checking back for the next update. Can't wait :D
I've heard USPS have a lost property office and right at the back is a found Ferrari tool kit...
Washer fluid is low. To refill, remove right rear wheel, disconnect battery.
hahahahahahahahaha
Ash trays full. To empty, remove RH seat, remove centre consul, push out ash tray from underneath using jack.........
@@Lookup2Wakeup You forgot to disconnect the battery!
Just found this channel and it’s absolutely brilliant, massive respect to you for having the balls and confidence in your own ability to tackle this stuff on the ground, I’ve done a lot of this type of stuff although never on a Ferrari but hardship is hardship and it’s not easy so fair play. A wee mid rise lift might be a worthwhile investment, they’re as mobile as you would need but not sure how they would work for access though
everytime I see your outro,,,I remember of Outrun. Man, how I DO LOVE THIS GAME!!!
when parts are scarce ,ingenuity takes over, 360 owners can rejoice .
My experience with Chicago's international post is that sometimes it says it sits there for a long time even if it actually already left. So basically the tracking means nothing and who knows what the real story is.
LOL, you make working on it look so easy. When I had my 360 i was afraid to even touch it!
Great video mate you make things look so easy!! Lovin the phone box.
LOL who else can just lay parts on the back of their Ferrari while working on their other Ferrari?
Yep
You gotta look up the phone number for the individual hub its at. Chicago lost my package once as well
Love the channel.
You could do with using some ear plugs with that impact wrench so close to your head though. Tinnitus is no joke!
Great video pair of quick jack's would come in handy and maybe a bespoke plywood bench to slot on top of ratarossa on pulleys attached to roof
I love the way Ratarossa and M539 attack these exotic cars like I work on a small block Chevy. No Fear these guys.
I mean, how can you not enjoy this channel?
Good effort, nice easy fix doing the work yourself. I’d have polished your exhaust tips whilst the bumper was off, just my OCD!
Great work on the 360! So good to knock out a few projects. Nice work on that starter and holy cow those engine mounts had compressed! I should probably take a look at the 308's mounts... F
I dont know why . i dont rly drink tea but i always end up with a cup of tea in front of me watching your videos.
I hope it’s with milk
@@Logies_right_hand sure is
I would put a steel across the opening of your garage and take that central brick pillar out.
It's not like he will have a space for another car there
@@Kekkojoker90 no, up but he wouldn’t have to watch the wing mirrors so closely each time one enters or leaves the garage. Makes it a doddle getting in and out
I removed my central pillar and it made a huge difference.
Yes it makes a difference but he's got a crap tonne of money to spend on parts and restoration just now
@@theRhinsRanger Not sure where you are going with this one...
Bravo on the starter and way to go on the mounts!
I called Ferrari to order a Testarossa workbench ... they hung up on me! 🤷♂️
Looking forward to more progress and thanks for the upload!
Carry On Carrying On, Cheers and
God Bless
😎
I really love your workbench.
You're what I call a real mechanical passionnate.
Anyone else get a twitch when he uses the body work of a Ferrari as a work bench to disassemble the starter motor? 🤦🏻♂️. I know its the Rat, but still
I cringed when he jacked it up to take the wheel off at 1:45 if somebody did that to 95 300zx convertible, I would be mad.
that's the beauty in owning Ratarossa
Yikes! Fully in agreement on that. He has a workbench , just has to move the Boxster back a bit to gain access to it.
@@alexomarwright is that not the right place to jack up the car?
@@gordonwinter4540 i wouldnt know on that vehicle. but most have jacking points that are recommended. I would never jack a car up near the rocker panels
Still waiting for a can (tin) of cookies (biscuits) from my mom (mum) from before Christmas (Yule). Dammit. (Blimey)
Both sides of the Atlantic are happy with that
Lol. I always use both terms to keep everybody happy.
That is the exact same starter used on my Maserati Gran Tourismo- the Maserati is a lot more difficult to change. Mounted down low, you collect a lot of corrosion- on my car the brushes were totally seized and would only occasionally contact the armature requiring the same hammer repair - also the solenoid contacts will wear down and you get an intermittent contact. Fortunately the starter and solenoid unit are standard Denso units used in a lot of cars and individual repair parts like the contacts and brush assembly are available at low prices.
I will never own a car like this. That said, I watch ALL your vids. It is pretty terrific that you do almost all your own work as opposed to sending it out to shops. You must give hope to a LOT of backyard mechanic folks out there. I will guess, you inspire a lot of folks that they can do this too. Cheers from Northern British Columbia my friend.
the brake disc is as big as the wheel of my ford fiesta
You need to mount a vise on your "WORKBENCH". HE HE
One from Miami. A Miami Vice.
I used to work for an electronics maker in the U.S. They build commercial LED for outdoor use. Water, snow, temp extremes- they have to withstand everything. Their "secret weapon" was to literally bathe all electronic boards in a thick silicon liquid. Worked a charm, and allowed the components to survive outdoors for 15-20 years or more.
Love the car and can’t wait for the series when you restore it!! How comes the odometer reads 0? How many miles has it done? You mentioned it was a daily driver - great to see it being used a lot. If I had one, I’d do the same!!!
Have your friends build extended harness cables and mount the ECU's in the cabin. Heat problem solved, right?
The difference in resistance and capacitance could create a lot of problems.
I was thinking insulate the ECU’s in place? Perhaps giving them a bit of an edge against the temperature issue? I’m a 40’s 50’s Harley guy so I don’t even know what an ECU is, but they seem like they would be easy to insulate.
Step 1: Don't use USPS if at all possible for shipping parts.
There is no Step 2.
USPS used to be good until the concerted effort to dismantle it, starting around 2008.
Oooo, I do love that 360 Challenge! that F131 is such a glorious heart! Scott, please do yourself a favour, don't pick on her faults.. just give her a big hug and say thank you. She will treat you better! ;) Thanks for this great vid! FYI - I am a DIY carbon geek... those panels are easily fixed with some infusion resin
You deserve a medal for doing all the extraordinary work you do while flatbacking!! I whine when I bump my head when the lift is not high enough LOL!!
Enjoyed the channel but squirm every time you use a Ferrari tailgate as a workbench and this time your contact cleaner sprayed over the rear vents.
Testarossa work bench, where can I get one of those!!!
Very insightful. Impressed how how Ratarossa does't mess around and gets stuck in.
Great progress, enjoying tye work you're doing on these Ferrari's
You can't even speak with usps employees while in the use unless you go to the post office and unfortunately 75% of the time they're useless
Wonder if it would be possible to put the ECU’s in the cabin when they come back from being mapped
Couldn’t the Ecu’s be shielded from engine heat and cold with
Reflective gold foil with insulation on the backing, sure that could be retro fitted ??
@@irinaputintseva7666 Could also throw a heatsink on them.. but yeah why not run the lines a little longer and install them in the cabin somewhere? Might not be worth the effort I guess.
I too was thinking he should perform some type of temp protection for the new control units
That's the 1st time i seen a farrari use as a work bench 🤭🤭 well done 👍 🏴
Lol, good old 'technical tap' on the starter. I may or may not have had to do that at a hotel to start my NSX after a severe over-night cold snap.
The most expensive workbench on RUclips
Always wanted to own a Ferrari. Your videos have reallly killed that dream. Going for a BMW Z instead.
I have strange filling watching these videos. He treats his cars like fords or vauxhalls.
But somehow I like that he shows that supercars are not unreachable for people without big pockets
Love you channel and your cars. if the starter motor fails again it could be the starter contacts, when you showed the solenoid side of the starter the contacts looked worn. most denso starter motors offer them as a separate replacement. keep up the great work and you offer great covid company :)
Really enjoy DIYer spannering like this on YT be it on something exotic like a Ferrari or something more humble like a Ford or old Rover. Keep up the good work.
One question, with your time saving Time-lapse stuff, what setting do you use? ... about ten seconds I would guess from watching your footage.
Impressive attention to details when giving the Starter Motor a severe dose of TLC. Makes a BIG difference.
Been doing much the same since I bought my first car as a teenager many moons ago. Learned early that taking your time and being thorough with cleaning etc during stripping and reassembly pays dividends. Friends and relatives accuse me of being "lucky" with my cars reliability but, as you most certainly know, there's more to it than pure luck.
Looking forward to more of the same now a subscriber.

Only hundreds? Isn't that cute? LOL
USPS is terrible but FedEx has the claim as worlds worst!
USPS was gutted from the inside out, intentionally, with the express purpose of making them less efficient. You should look into who did that, and why.
You can thank Louis DeJoy for that.
I feel your pain, man. Royal Mail have delivered nothing to my address since mid December! And I have so, so many parts I’m waiting for. Doing my head in.
Love the channel. Guessing Larry is sending u products. Mine was showing in Chicago for ages then held in this country til I paid the import duties etc. I have a bottle of frothe in England now if ya need some. Guessing you’ve ordered alsorts of other bits tho
When Ferrari design a car, do they just put names in a hat of where to put the extra bits around the engine🤦🏽♂️

Mr Rat, don't get me wrong, I like your channel but these Ferrari's seem like piles of sh*t. The engineering seems very questionable compared to German cars. I admit I am anxious to see what you do with the boxer.
all old motors r shite mate, thats why we love em! an if u were payin attention you would know the 512 is gettin a full retstoration. best way to go IMO.
I've owned both German and Italian, both suffer from questionable quality and longevity. BMW-Electrical gremlins, Porsche, same issues and mechanical parts quality issues, Italian electrical issues, mechanical issues all quality related.

Very good job, keep it up! 👍
Nice one, mate! I absolutely love how you completely demystify these cars and treat them like any other.
It's always annoyed me that newer Ferraris are revered like they're made of alien technology that can only be maintained by certified "professionals", and here you come, jacking up a 360 on your driveway like it's no biggie. Because, at the end of the day, it isn't!
Keep up the good work, dude. 😎👍
