Hi thanks for your informative video.. The crook like pin is used to lock the tension in the spring if you have just one broken cable…it goes in the hole in the spindle of the spring shaft on the right hand side. This means you don’t have to re tension the spring unless you want to or if both wires are broken..
I had to replace a cable and the kit comes with new cones as well as the cable so I just thought it best to be prudent. I don’t suppose you have to unless you want / need to…
Thanks for this, although I dont understand the need for timber to wedge the screwdrivers - surely the end of the screwdriver (or whatever you use) will be held tight by the garage door itself. Or am I missing something?
Hi Pete. It’s mostly because there are only a couple of holes on the mechanism so you’re a bit limited because you want the mechanism in just the right place. You could do it your proposed way if you wanted to.
Many thanks! It's a job for the New Year after one of my wires snapped (lasted over 15 year though so not bad!). Ps. I'll replace both sides for safety @@Blisteringbarnacles2
In that case you’ll have to complete the same for the other side. The kit should have enough to do both so you’ll just need to complete the same procedure again
Sorry - not sure what you mean about the safety hook? There was a rounded hook / piece of metal in the pack but I couldn’t see a reason why it would be included…
@Blisteringbarnacles2 It's used to secure the spring once you've taken the tension off the cables. On an older Henderson door, there's a hole through the horizontal bar and the long end of the hook goes in there. The hook itself sits upwards and hooks on above. Newer doors have this hole at both ends. Other videos show this and urge you not to work without it in place for safety reasons so please take care. It needs light application of a hammer to get it in and a good yank to get it out when finished. Keep out of the "line of fire"!
Jeez, how many times??? The music was on the film editor thing, not my choice. If you don’t like it, move on rather than just regurgitating the same old comments as others have said. If I could change it I would. Move on.

oh it's a shame that the music overlaid is so off putting.... all that work putting it together and i just want to listen to the words
Thanks for a clear and well explained video, I’m starting that job today 😉
Great Video - question - why do you replace the cones at the same time if they are in good condition? Thanks ...

Couldn't hear shit due to the music 👍

Hi I am only getting tension on the left side the right does not seem to roll up any ideas?
It would really help me if you had videoed how to perform the repair.
I’m sorry. I’d struggle to make a more clear repair video.
Can the wire be replaced without removing the whole fitting/reel?
Hi there. You can but you have to buy the whole kit so you may as well replace the whole thing and be assured it’s done fully
Hi, can you let me know where you got your replacement parts from.....they are exactly what I need. Thanks
Hi Kevin. I got my parts from Henderson’s. Their website is www.pcHenderson.com
The music stops us hearing the commentary! NO!
The title says "no nonsense" THE MUSIC IS NONSENSE.... STOP IT!!
Well I done that but the other cable on the other side is now loose 🙄😐😳 so what on earth do have to do now??

When you were replacing yours why didn't you film the whole process from being to the end
very good and nice music
Music's too loud.
Think about it, would you play this music in a classroom
What about the safety hook?

Will people stop adding music to their instructional videos!? Youll be losing views because of it I tell ya
I don’t recall putting any music on this video!
Hi I am tensioning mine but only the left side is tensioning the right is not spooling any ideas?
I’m sorry but without seeing what you mean I can’t really comment. Could you send me a video showing me what you mean and I’ll help if I can?
