Every hip hop fan knows that the Disco Fever was best known for the 1985 film "Krush Groove"
And I think about is when Run got pushed by Russell (Blair Underwood) at DF in Krush Groove

I got in the original fever once B4 it closed in 84 or 85,it was all the adult gangster's from all over new York having a good time.no beefing or other bozo nonsense.... At 14yrs old all I could do was return to being a rooftop patron.

IT’S AN AWFUL SHAME THAT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, SAL THE OWNER, OR NO ONE HAS TRULY GIVEN FULL HOMAGE TO THE ONE AND ONLY “DISCO-FEVER”! THIS WAS THE PLACE TO BE AT, HOME AND PLATFORM FOR MANY OF UP AND COMING RAP & R&B ARTISTS TO COME AND MAKE THEIR NAME IN HISTORY! FROM (1977-1985) LOCATED AT 1218 EAST 167TH ST. & JEROME AVE, IN THE BRONX. THIS BUILDING SHOULD BE A LAND-MARK. "DISCO-FEVER" NIGHT CLUB WAS ONE OF THE BEST UNDERGROUND NIGHT CLUB IN NEW YORK CITY AT THE TIME, AND THERE WERE OTHER CLUBS IN NEW YORK LIKE 371, ROOF-TOP, S&S AND THE ZODIAC AND SALT & PEPPER. BUT THE FEVER STOOD OUT FROM ALL THE REST, BECAUSE WHEN IT FIRST OPEN UP, ALL OF THE PEOPLE HOW CAME TO THE CLUB AT FIRST, WAS ALL OF THE PEOPLE WITH PLENTY OF MONEY. YES, ALL OF THE BIG BALLERS, DRUG-DEALERS AND GROWN & SEXY WAS HANGING OUT IN THAT CLUB AT FIRST WHEN IT WAS FUN AND JOYFUL TIMES THEN. NOW FOR THE MOST PART, "DISCO- FEVER" HAD ONE HELL OF A MEAN ASS SECURITY TEAM, RAN BY MANDIGO AND BILLY-BANG. AND IT HAD THREE BARS STATIONS INSIDE AND WAS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK TOO. THERE HAD ALL SORT OF ACTS THERE AS WELL, LIKE THE GANG SHOW, THE NEWLYWED GAME, FREAKY FRIDAYS AND TALENT SHOWS. THERE ALSO SHOT SERVES MOVIES THEIR AS WELL, LIKE KRUSH GROOVE AND A FEW OTHERS. THEY ALSO HAD A LOT OF ARTISTS THERE HANGOUT IN THE CLUB TOO, LIKE FLASH, MELLY MEL, STARI SKI, KURTIS BLOW, RUSSELL SIMMONS, NEW EDITION, D.J. A.J. , KID CAPRI, STARCHILD, RUN D.M.C, SWEET G, AND MANY OF OTHERS. "DISCO-FEVER" ALSO SOLD ALL SORTS OF HATS, T-SHIRTS AND JACKETS FOR SALE AS WELL. THE ATMOSPHERE AND ENTERTAINMENT WAS PERFECT AT THE TIME, BECAUSE THE CLUB HAD A LOT OF CHARACTER, STYLE, AND CHARISMA; WHICH WAS AWESOME. THEY ALSO HAD SEVERAL SPECIAL ELITE V.I.P. ROOMS & PRIVATE AREAS AS WELL. NOW WHEN A PROBLEM DID OCCUR IT WAS DEAL WITH ON SPOT OUTSIDE OF THE CLUB. AND YOU HAD YOUR MOMENTS WHEN THINGS DID OCCUR INSIDE THE CLUB AS WELL, BUT IT WASN’T FOR DAMN LONG, BECAUSE MANDIGO AND CREW WAS COMING FOR YOUR ASS FAST TOO.
NOW, WHAT HAPPEN TO "DISCO-FEVER", WAS WHEN IT OPEN UP AT FIRST, ALL OF THE FORKS THERE HAD PLENTY OF MONEY TO HANG OUT WITH, AND I MEAN CASH ON HANDS AT ALL DAMN TIMES OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. PEOPLE WAS PULLING UP TO THE SPOT IN ALL KINDS OF BRAND NEW CARS, LIMOUSINES, O'J'S CAR SERVICE AND WEARING FUR COATS, MINK COATS, SHEEPSKINS, AND LEATHER COATS, BIG DIAMONDS RINGS, GOLD EARRINGS, AND BIG GOLD JEWELRY. MONEY, MONEY WAS COMING FROM EVERYWHERE UP IN THAT CLUB AND THE DAMN DRUGS WAS TOO. PEOPLE WOULD COME FROM EVERYWHERE AND WE WOULD PARTY ALL DAMN NIGHT ALL. PEOPLE WOULD COME OUT OF THE CLUB AND THE SUN WOULD BE BRIGHT AND SHINY AS HELL OUTSIDE IN YOUR DAMN EYES, AND YOU WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE SOMEONE HOME OR TO THE HOTEL THAT NIGHT. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, A FEW YEARS DOWN THE ROAD, THE DUST-HEAD AND STICK-UP KIDS STARTED COMING UP IN THE CLUB BETWEEN (1984-85), CAMOUFLAGE WITH LOTS OF FAKE ASS FUCKIN JEWELRY ON LIKE IF THEY HAD MONEY TO SPEND IN THE CLUB TOO, BUT IT WAS JUST A FRONT, JUST TO SEE WHO HAD MONEY UP IN THE CLUB, SO THEY COULD ROB YOU OR THEM OUTSIDE THE CLUB. THEN ONCE THE DUST-HEADS STARTED COMING THE STICK-UP KIDS STARTED COMING BEHIND THEM. AND THAT’S WHAT ENDED "DISCO-FEVER" NIGHT CLUB. BUT WE HAD MORE FUN AND GOOD TIMES THEN BAD ONES UP IN THE CLUB AND EVEN IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE PLENTY OF MONEY YOU WAS STILL ALLOWED UP IN “DISCO-FEVER” AS WELL. NONETHELESS, SOMEONE STILL SHOULD MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT “DISCO-FEVER” TOO, BECAUSE IT HOLDS A LOT OF VALUE TO RAP MUSIC HISTORY. “HOWEVER, “DISCO-FEVER” WAS HOME FOR BEING ONE OF THE FIRST LAND-MARK BUILDING OF RAP MUSIC IN THE 80’S”. # AND I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE TO BE TRUE, ONLY IF YOUR ARE A “FEVER-BELIEVER”! nolanngrant@gmail.com

OK so my family and I moved from Harlem to Sedgwick Ave; right next to 1520. We were regulars at D.J. Kool HERC'S parties. Disco Fever was in walking distance. I remember coming out of Disco Fever and a flasher in a raincoat "FLASHED" us! By the time we finished laughing and talking about him, he ran away. But those were some of the best times. The Get Down, really shows life in DA BOOGIE DOWN back in 1975 - 77.
