Turntables have always intrigued me. I was a kid in the 80's and my family listened to rock music. I only saw people playing turntables on tv, and my dad would kill me if I tried to recreated that with his albums. Cut to adulthood, and I can play guitar and bass, keep a beat on drums, fumble my way around a keyboard, but never learned how to play turntables. Every time I see a DJ now a days, they have and ILM worth of computer equipment, and two faux-turntables. It's really interesting to see just how much goes into playing with a basic mixer and using two actual records at the same time. I kind of want to buy an old school set up like that and see what I can come up with.
THAT'S WHY A DJ TODAY, DOESN'T REALLY NEED TO BE CALL, A DJ. THIS IS WHAT A DJ IS ALL ABOUT. REAL THING, NOT FAKE, NOT DOWNLOADING FROM INTERNET, RUclips, AND ESPECIALLY, NOT COPYING OTHERS MUSICS, CUTTING NUMBERS, ALBUMS, SONGS, ETC, ETC..... THE WORST PART IS THAT THEY GET RECOGNITIONS, CAUSE THEY WORK AT CERTAIN RADIOS STATIONS. I'M A DJ FROM OLD SCHOOL AND I LEARN FROM OTHERS, CAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE DO, BACK THEN. NOW, IT'S A COMPETITION OF WHO YOU KNOW TO GET YOU ON A RADIO STATIONS, GIG OR EVERYWHERE. SAD PART IS, THEY CAN'T DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS, NEVER. UNLESS THEY COPY, SOMEBODY. NOT TO MANY ORIGINAL. SOMEBODY ASK ME FOR A TRIAL TO SEE AND THEY WANT ME TO BRING, ALL ORIGINAL MUSIC THAT I TRY TO GET ON ORIGINAL CD'S, SO THEY CAN RECORD THEM. I TOLD THEM: "YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR MY COLLECTIONS. I TOLD THEM, YOU EVEN HAVE SOME CD'S THAT I RECORD FOR A FRIEND AND YOU RECORD THAT, FROM HIM. THAT'S THE REASON THAT I DON'T COPY TO NOBODY, MY COLLECTIONS.
I DJ'd in the 90's. I bought all my vinyl dirt cheap and the new stuff was reasonable to purchase. I was also in a record pool. I amassed roughly 20,000 records and have shelves covering a couple walls. A crate of records is no joke heavy and I would bring at least 4-5 every gig.
