As a DJ from the Bronx who was exposed to early Hip Hop in 75, I am learning a lot. This is real Hip Hop History. I remember seeing the GLI not knowing what it was. I bought a Gemini mixer, no crossfader as my first mixer. Numark was the first crossfader I owned. I probably heard of this DJ sound system and did not know it. For the last time, GM Flash did not invent the crossfader. LOL.
What Grandmaster Flash invented was 1. The Cue System 2. Wafer a.k.a Slipmat 3. Quick Mix Theory, he never had claimed to invent the Crossfader or any Mixer!
Disco is just a word for the club's back then. The early DJ's before Flash & Kool Herc, played Funk, Jazz & R&B. People that dj would understand. There was no actual Hip Hop records until 1979. The early DJ's that should be created for starting Hip Hop, like I said were playing R&B, Jazz & Funk. at these disco techs (which were what the clubs were called at the time).
DJ Born Peace Allah Yeah but those DJs at the Disco clubs played actusl songs, the "Wack Part" meanwhile Herc and Flash played only Drum Breaks, "Get Down" part. . .
4:03-4:26 he said rite he was the first in the Bronx. And again 5:06 he said he was the first in the Bronx. 6:38-6:49 he mentioned Ron Plummer, but Ricky Grant was the first one to do take a Sony MS 14 mixer and take channels 1and 2,3 and 4 so you can control each turntable from the Volume. Then from that figure out how ah wirejack it and jux go from instead of 2 to 1 and from that slick ass engineers at GLi sore of ideas copy it, came out with the first 3800(GLi Disco 3800).. They stole ideas from Ricky Grant(Nu Sounds)
KRS is the man, but he says a lot of shit wrong from time to time. Flash said he invented the “cue” system NOT the crossfader so you can hear what you’re playing before your audience does.
+Roberto Ginsburg ...yes his name is Kool DJ Dee in this interview…in 1973-1975 As teenagers, Mario arranged for Kool DJ Dee to bring his mixer and equipment outside in the parks and "projects"…to play music outside for the young teenage gangstas
Michael Waynetv Thanks a lot! The Real history of Hip Hop is still in the makin..Other facts (based in interviews): Bambaataa used Clubman 1-1 mixer, The Disco Brothers (Dj Barron & DJ Breakout) used GLI 3880.
Said it before and ill say it again. THAT gear needs to be in the Hall of Fame. Be it the Hip Hop or Rock and Roll hall.

Playing disco doesn't negate hip hop influence. Most of those shows where the boys are dancing are dancing to disco type futuristic robotics sounds
Kool DJ Dee, Tyrone the mixologist and the Leila Willis interviews brought me here. Thank you so much for bringing us the true story of Hip Hop🙏🏾
It seem to me that the west indies, and Jamaican will see what u doing and study what u doing and take credit for it
"He didn't invent this, no, no way" Mad props on documenting all of this history!
Love that equipment
The crossfader was created in 1977 and design by Richard Wadman
Actually a Fader is simply a slide potentiometer it's been around since the 50s
