    Smoke test it. You'll see that the bottom fan is actually re-circulating hot air in the case. It pushes air up the column directly above it, that then circulates back out of the vents immediately behind the fan and is then pushed back into the case again by the fan. If you put two fans there instead of one, both on intake, this would make a huge difference ;)

    • @alexisrivera200xable
      @alexisrivera200xable 3 года назад +2

      Great idea, I would add a high speed camera to record that test so he can see the smoke flow better before it diffuses and obscures the view. (that and the cool content potential)

    • @Crazyates11
      @Crazyates11 3 года назад +18

      Also, set the bottoms fan as exhaust! I see everyone assuming that if top fans are exhaust the bottom fans must be intake. That’s only true if you’re using the TG panel. If you want true ultimate performance, use vented side panel and bottom fans as exhaust. It pulls the heat from the gpu out the bottom, and cpu aio isn’t being fed hot air. It’s a win-win for both temps.

    Man, something about seeing a founders edition 3080 with its flowthrough design being mounted vertically makes me a weird combination of mad and sad. Smad. Such an inefficient direction for the airflow design. A regular mount with two bottom mounted fans would have made so much sense in that case with (i suspect) improved acoustics.

    • @Craig-ib7gk
      @Craig-ib7gk 3 года назад

      Agreed. The NR200P non-max would be the way to go there, but it has its share of problems too. The only ootb options for an AIO rad+fans are side-plate mounting and floor mounting (the worst possible place for an AIO radiator, yet you routinely see builders on YT chest-pumping about their "pretty" rigs post-build in that exact configuration). It is non-trivial to shoehorn a rad+fans, even low profile, into the roof. That, coupled with no panel USB-C support in any of the NR200 cases, is why I don't have one in my hands already. And I really, *really* like the layout of this case line.

    • @StilgarAstartes
      @StilgarAstartes 3 года назад

      That would indeed be interesting to know. Although I do also suspect the orientation of the GPU with that particular Blower-Style cooler would create perpendicular Airflow regardless of the additional Fans Speed, which in turn would hinder the overall Cooling inside of the Case. That would explain why the extra Fan caused the Temperatures to increase instead of decreasing - at least in my addled Brain that makes sense. Not sure if lower Fan Speeds would mitigate that problem in any significant way and preserve any benefit to the Airflow.

      or just horizontal mount it

    • @EvernooBE
      @EvernooBE 3 года назад +1

      @@Dee0426 can't horizontal mount the GPU in the MAX, without heavy modding that is.
      To me it's the biggest downside of this version. Should they ever release a version with a modular backplate like the o11 mini, it would be the definitive ITX case.

    • @wohoo245

      @@EvernooBE I’m a planning on building with this case with the GPU horizontally, can you explain why it would be hard? I am planning on getting the Kraken Z63 as my cpu cooler and mounting it on top.

    • @EvernooBE
      @EvernooBE 2 года назад

      @@wohoo245 The MAX's backpanel only has a (swiveling) slot that allows for vertical mounting of the GPU. The regular NR200P comes standard with a horizontal setup but you can easily add a vertical mounting bracket.
      In other words if you buy the MAX you are pretty much forced to use an AIO (which is still a very good one), with the regular NR200P you can do whatever you like, but you will not be able to fit your AIO on top without a top hat modification to the case. Check out "Machines and More" channel for in depth explanation of the NR200 in all it's variations. The guy wrote the handbook on the case.

    12:50 the reason is because the case was negative pressure without the fan all you’ve done by installing a fan on just the right side is prevented cool air from rising from the left side of the bottom of the case stopped cooling air from rising into the left side of the gpu. installing the fan on the left or both would have prevented it.

    Hottest temp in my 3080-3700X rig now hits about 66c. Just added a ML240L V2 with push pull.
    I made a nice chimney effect with 8 Sickleflows in a Neo Air case. Kind of small, mesh front, top exhaust.
    Four front intakes on the 240, 1 lower rear intake where the io covers go. Pulls in under the triple fan 3080, all up and out through 3 exhaust. Even at full blast, can't hear a thing...over the window AC unit right next to it.

      You will probably need to put a slim fan on any non FE card, but that's still ok. I would just put the fancurve of those to a static low speed so it's just enough to feed air without pushing it too hard past the GPU.

  • @wapperjaw8282

    You have the bottom fan in the wrong spot should be more in the back and you need to cover the empty spot to prevent the cold air from escaping out the bottom or put in 2 fans at the bottom.

What first drawn me to the NR200P was the Sakura Edition (I know I'd pay way more than I should) is something that she would love a lot and would give me great brownie points. But this gives me ideas about custom wraps for it.

  • @TravisFabel

    Jay, flip that bottom fan over so it's exhausting underneath the graphics card.
    Remember the AIO fans are working off the pressure differential they're creating.
    Blowing in additional air, means there's a higher pressure inside the case. Because there's not enough exhaust to fully offset that.
    So now those fans trying to move air across the AIO have less of a pressure differential between the outside of the case and the inside, and they are moving less air in.

    Custom cable it and you can flip the PSU. I would shorten the original cable and make a custom extension that makes it to where it needs to go with slack. Shortened original so the plugs are easier to hide without all the extra cable. Use solid black wires and rub down the insulation with 400 grit sandpaper to make it matte charcoal grey and you wont need to sleeve them.
