    The fact that these two are ACTUALLY taking Intel Arc as a serious choice for a budget/low mid-range build is great. More competition in the GPU market!

    • @steph_on_yt
      @steph_on_yt Год назад +25

      Funny enough, I'm pretty sure it's because Arc (whether due to immature drivers or silicon bugs) benches WAAAYY higher in synthetics than in actual games. The A770 isn't far off from a 3070 in benchmarks, despite only being comparable to a 3060 in real-world gaming loads. Not really surprising due to the fact that ACM-G10 (same die as this A750) was initially planned to compete with the 3070 Ti.

      True true

    • @Eidolon2003
      @Eidolon2003 Год назад +16

      The A750 at its discounted price is genuinely competitive these days. I have an A770, and yes I have had problems, but so far in my experience it's not nearly as bad as you would think based on the early coverage it got. Intel has improved drastically, and fast. I've been playing a lot of BG3 lately. Intel was the first to release a beta "Game On" driver with BG3 support, and it runs fantastically. I'm really glad Intel hasn't given up on Arc.
      Like I said though, I have had issues. It's not a huge deal to me as I enjoy tinkering with my computer. I've already submitted at least one bug report. Don't get me wrong, you won't get an absolutely problem free experience from AMD or Nvidia, but if you want to minimize that kind of thing, Intel probably isn't your best choice.

    • @Eric_Fate
      @Eric_Fate Год назад +7

      They're becoming surprisingly good little cards now that the drivers are getting caught up. They're still heavily reliant on resizable BAR, but for their price point they are an incredible value.

      @EvokerKing Год назад +1

      im selling my arc a770
      i like the performance but they never really fixed the drivers. my computer was broke for a month because i needed to use the beta drivers for some reason but couldnt get install them due to various issues with the computer just locking up a few seconds after signing in. intel support is some of the worst i have ever seen but it works now. now that i am on them, they arent compatible with anything. the directx feature level is broken by default but now it just says "Feature level: "
      its really annoying me and the performance doesnt even translate to games. i was seeing scores very high but when i went in games like mw2 the fps was lower than my previous rtx 3050
      im probably going to buy a used 3080 ti or 3090

    just a heads up the 6650 xt is wired for PCIE 4.0 x8, and neither the b450 nor the R5 5500 support pcie gen 4.
    AMD continues to use the PCI-Express 4.0 x8 bus interface with the RX 6650 XT to reduce board costs. By itself, Gen 4 x8 is plenty of bandwidth (comparable to Gen 3 x16), but when used on an older machine with PCIe Gen 3 slots, the card operates at Gen 3 x8
    so with jay's original config the gpu is being bottlenecked by running pcie gen 3.0 x 8
    by switching to the Arc A750 (which is wired for pcie 4.0 x16), it allows it to run at pcie gen 3.0 x 16 on the b450+5500 combo. 6650 xt likely wouldve won the benchmark otherwise if using pcie gen 4

    I came here 3 weeks ago with my brother and his friend, and the friend surprised me and was going to buy a computer, even though he's normally a console guy. He came to me with his parts list, and I was able to trim the price WAY down (He was going AM4 yet using a x570). Combine that with the stupidly good deals (B450 and a amd 5600x3d) and we saved $600. He was still OK with the same budget, so he went from 3060ti to 4070. It was such a magical day, highly recommend the "choosing components in-store" experience.

      Assuming that this was shot on opening day, that would indicate that inventory was pulled from other stores. However, some parts being out of stock (the RAM kit, for example), leads me to believe that this was shot a few days after opening. (Like, say, the first Saturday they were open.)

    The rule change should have been a 1% score increase for every 1% below budget (so every $7.50 off)! That would have made it so that the clear meta wouldn’t be to just go as cheap as possible. Also a case for sure should be considered a required component

    • @zwenkwiel816
      @zwenkwiel816 Год назад +27

      Agreed, as soon as that was introduced they compromised the systems so heavily. If they'd went for the $750 that would have been another $200 to get a better graphics card (don't get me wrong, I'm happy Intel are in the game, but come on, a Radeon 6700XT was within reach at this) and maybe better CPU.

    I did similar builds for 2 of my kids.
    ryzen 5 5500/16gb ddr4 3200 cl16/ 500gb m.2 boot drive + 1tb hdd/ 600w evga bronze psu / cheapest b550 board avail (came with a discount when purchased with a compatible cpu) and a montech mATX case (had a glass side panel and rgb fans were included)
    The above parts were about 375-380 before tax.
    I grabbed a used 1660 super for each build that I got for about 75$ a pop used and made out with 2 1080p gaming rigs for about 900$ total.
    The kicker is that I did this about a year ago, the prices have only improved in that time. Microcenter is the Toys R Us for tech nerds.
