@@tomdupreeiii Hey Tom hope all is good. Just came back after setting my events up and I have a question if thats cool... So lets say on your next song release.. will you use your general pxlme links that redirect to your artist pages (and use the same conversion events in fb adsmanager as in this video as they redirect to your spotify and apple music pages) or are you creating new redirect links on pxlme that go to the song right away instead of your artist page and will you then as well set up new conversion events of those new pxls? I am asking cause I am trying to see whats more reasonable for my next release, like should I just do all that with my Artist pages or with redirects that go to the actual song on spotify and apple. Hope the question made sense lol. looking forward to the new video!
Maxi Zee hey great question! I have tested both ways. For me, directing all traffic to your profile page is the best method. This generally leads to more followers on top of just having listeners as your follow button is front a center for them.
Just subbed! This has got to be one of the best and straight forward tutorials ever! Thank you so much, this is awesome! I'm deffo going to share with my other music friends😀
great info dude, you rock! been doing ads for 1 year for spotify playlists, and i randomly got lucky with traffic campaigns, and got frustrated once they stopped working all of a sudden. Now this conversion approach sure solves alot of headache, configured the pixel and i m already seeing results. You got yourself 1 subscriber
Thanks for this helpful video, Tom! I wonder if it would make any diffrence if I use other standart events than "view content"? I use multiple landing pages and for better separation I would use "start free trial" or whatever standart event. Do you know if that would be a problem? Thanks for help!
I don't think it would be a problem as long as you're organized and remember what event goes where. Most artists benefit from using the standard events because they don't know the full ins and outs of creating custom events, etc.
@@tomdupreeiii thx for the reply. yeah surly here’s a thing. I have already existed pixel in Facebook (which is have his own unique number) so I thought that my problem (in the first way of setting) is the pixel existence. Because it’s didn’t work for me. Eventually after more RUclips videos I get some understanding conversions and now I’m struggle with the domains problems of FB ads
The point I didn't understand is we able to select one conversion in the ad setlist. So If I select a Spotify tracking do I need a second ad to select an Apple music tracking and have to pay twice per the conversions?
Depending on how you've set things up and which landing page system you're using, I'd suggest using the View Content conversion. This will cover all button clicks on your landing page, so you don't have to set up one separately for each streaming platform.
hey Tom, thanks for all the info on your channel. question: do you have to set up a new custom conversion and edit events manager priority for each release? Because when you do that, all your ads are paused for 72 hours. Or is it just the view content on your pixel that matters? Thanks in advance for your help!!
Bro you break things all the way down. Every time I watch your tutorials I feel like I don't need look for other videos to get more info! Everyone selling course but your free videos are the most relevant. Thank you sharing this info with us.
I AM BLUSH dude this is such a reassuring comment. Thank you for saying this. I’m always trying to be as transparent as possible and bring as much value as I can. I’m really happy to hear that it resonates. Thank you for watching!
I have a big problem, when Tom selects the pixel he wants to use at the 8:25 mark, I have 'Pixel ID: undefined', and I am unable to select the my pixel, theres no toggle enabled in that field? :0 Can anyone help me, i've spent a whole day trying to figure this out??
Yeah, based on both your comments, it sounds like you're having Pixel issues with your domain. Here's what I would do: double check your Pixel settings and ID in the Events Manager. Next, ensure your Pixel is properly installed on your site / landing page (I would personally uninstall and reinstall it). Next, confirm it is not installed in more than one location (I had this issue by install the Pixel both on my site and in Google Tag Manager - I deleted it from Tag Manager and that solved my issue). And lastly, be sure to test all of your pixel fires and events in the Events Manager to ensure everything is working properly before you attempt to add anything to a campaign.
@@tomdupreeiii Amazing brother, Im going to try all of these suggestions! I really appreciate you, thanks so much for responding! I'll let you know how it goes :)
Wow! What an unbelievably helpful video man! Thank you so much for sharing this with us, I'm just getting into Facebook Ads and this has helped me a LOT
I assume you mean getting the domain to point to PixelMe? You'll need to update your CNAME record with your domain provider. Point that to PixelMe.me. I probably should do a video on that setup process.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad you found this video helpful. When it comes to landing pages, while it can seem counterintuitive, less is actually more. You want to optimize for the one singular thing you are trying to get your audience to do, and you want to make it dummy-proof. Statistics show that adding too many options on your landing page can actually lower conversion rates by a pretty significant amount, so I would suggest only including links to the very limited set of things that apply specifically to the ad you are running. If you're trying to get traffic to RUclips, then yes, definitely put that link. If you're trying to send traffic to Spotify, I would leave the RUclips link out. You can always create multiple landing pages for multiple ads. Hope that helps!
Hey Tom, starting at 2:08, I could no longer follow along, as my screen did not have any of those options once I got into the events manager portion of things. It just says "No data sources connected" and gives me the option to set this up. Do you cover this in a video? And if not, is it even something I could/should worry about since I don't have an actual website anyway? Thanks as always for the info!
Yeah the iOS 14 changes have unfortunately made this video a bit dated now. I do have a video on the mew updates. You don’t need a website but you do need your own domain You can check the video out here: ruclips.net/video/GdY6MUhzUSM/видео.html.
when I try this it says "Please check that the pixel code on your website is set up correctly" and won't let me input my hyperfollow link. Do I have to create my own website? or is there a way around this?
Unfortunately, you can't use hyperfollow anymore until they allow you to add your own domain to it. You'll need to use your own custom domain from now on because of iOS 14. You can connect your domain to ToneDen for free.
Hi Tom, I have set up a toneden landing page, linked a subdomain, set up a new pixel and linked that to the toneden page. The pixel is picking up events on the landing page, do I need to do anything else with the pixel or will it work as is? Thanks Tom
Hi Tom, thank you your videos have been a great help! I’ve looked through the comments and I haven’t been able to find a solid answer to this question... I’m not using a landing page service like toneden or hypeedit... I’m using the carrd website to build my landing page and There isn’t an option to simply type in my pixel ID. I added the pixel to my landing page by embedding the code. Then I added the “view content” event (I also tried using “Lead”)through the event setup tool...(I set up these events on the spotify button/link that sends people to the page that’s supposed to fire the event)... The issue I’m having is that each time I test/view the landing page in a browser... 2 page view events trigger but the event that I created with the setup tool does not trigger (this is the link that sends people to my Spotify). Both the pixel AND the created event have a green indicator beside them showing they are active. The only things that I think could be wrong is that: 1 - there is no ad running and I have already clicked that link numerous times so the pixel does not count it as an event from my device 2 - the redirect is going to an external link (which I do not own or control) from my landing page so it cannot count the event. But this doesn’t make sense to me if I’ve programmed the pixel to fire an event simply off a button click on my end You talked about the second issue in the video briefly but I’ve been having a difficult time understanding it with your references to pixelme... do I absolutely need to purchase pixelme for everything to work? Thank you!
It sounds like you either have a setup issue with the event itself or a communication issue (maybe an ad blocker running) that is preventing the conversion event from firing. Or, also, it could be that you haven’t verified and added that conversion event to your manager to comply with the new iOS 14 updates. I would look into all of that. The link that’s in the button itself doesn’t matter as the conversion event fires on your page, not the actual link.
Thanks dude. Man, I’m not much of a programmer at all. I know enough to get myself in trouble but that’s about it. The troubleshooting portion of this video is probably the bit I was most excited to share. It can often be very difficult to track down the answers to these little issues like this. Thanks for watching!
@@tomdupreeiii Yeah I did set up a convesrion pixel ..it was a b****. I like your warts an all approach..anyone can do a walkthrough but what's useful is when shii goes wrong and quantifying expectations ..love that ...quality!
It seems like this no longer work with Toneden in chrome. When you try the 'Track New Button' it no longer gives you the option of selecting the play button, instead it only lets you choose 'manage privacy' button in the left corner of the footer or the 'Powered by Toneden' button in the bottom right of footer :(
You shouldn’t need to use the event setup tool with ToneDen. Just drop your pixel in the correct field during the setup process and everything will work as it should.
Thanks Tom! this was mind-blowing from me! Just wondering, what are you using for landing page? I was thinking to subscribe to Hypeddit as per Andrew Southworth suggestion, but I also saw many artists recommending to create an actual web page using WordPress (although I don't know if the free version supports Facebook pixel). Any insight would be awesome. Thanks man!!!
Hey I'm so glad this video helped! I currently use ToneDen for my landing pages. It's free and easy to set up. You can learn more about how I set things up here: ruclips.net/video/9nth6Gn9ejc/видео.html.
This is probably going to be a stupid question but how do i make a conversion just for spotify? lol as when i make the coversion link it links all of the services that have play on it
In this video I used Wix, but you can use Google Tag Manager or your website's native settings menu. Most have a spot to add your pixel. If you're using a landing page like ToneDen or SmartURL, there are fields in those for easy setup as well.
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks for the response! I‘m using ToneDen and connected my pixel ID with the landing page, but it doesn’t show up in the events manager. Do I have to add the pixel base code to my landing page too for it to work?
@@gigipolar ok cool. You’ve set it up correctly. You’ll need to use the event test tool to push through the first pixel fire. Once you do that. It should all show up perfectly.
@@tomdupreeiii Okay I managed to set up the event (It only worked with my facebook business page) but it doesn't fire. Hope I'll figure it out eventually, thank you anyway!
Hi Tom. Blocked at 2:44 . The Open Website is greyed out. Pressing enter just gives me back an error message. I'm using Chrome and nothing seems to work as intended.
Really good content!! Can you please help with a playlist focused campaign? I followed your steps but when I was in set up event.. it opened the final link of the playlist (maybe is tone den configuration). But I guess the pixel is working because im seeing activity.. Is it possible to track who signed up for the playlist (hiting the heart) ? OR this works only before arriving on spotify? Thanks!! All the Best!
Bruno Motta DJ hey thanks for watching the video! Unfortunately there’s no way to know exactly who decided to follow your playlist. The closest we can get is to know who clicked through the link to check it out in the first place. But that’s still a really tight pool of people to retarget at a later date. Unfortunately Spotify doesn’t give us the data we need to get more specific than that.
Also bc when I add either my Spotify artist page directly or the URL genius link that directs people directly (ha) to my Spotify artist page, that little box that popped up on your page at 3:04 didn't pop up...
Anyone else get this weird alert when selected 'view content' in the pop up: Potential Duplicate Event - The View Content event has already been set up in your website code. Setting up an event twice can inflate your results ? BTW i subbed, great video!
Having such a nightmare setting up my Pixel, here. So, I'm not very tech savvy and when it comes to 'use partner integration' in the pixel setup which one am I choosing? All I want to do is have a landing page link, to track conversions. I have set up a landing page fine, it's just this initial setup with the pixel I'm having issues with.
Depending on the landing page platform you’re using, I’d advise just manually inputting the pixel code instead of fooling with the partner integration. That process can sometimes be more complicated than it needs to be.
This is the best video on youtube on this topic! Thank you so much for this, this literally saved my ass from wadting money on ads. Quick question: I seem to be having a problem with the pixel in regards to the View Content event. The "Page View processes just fine, but everytime I hit the Spotify or Apple Music link, the VIew Content event shows me 2 active warnings: a "Pixel and Catalogue Not Paired" and "Missing Content ID Parameter. How do I fix that??
Richard Peña Music Thank you so much for the kind words on the video! I’m really glad it was helpful. That’s an interesting issue you’re having. The “catalog not paired” prompt makes me think it’s something to do with an online store, or perhaps your product catalog in Facebook itself. And the “missing content ID” issue makes me think that you may not have the View Content protocol set up correctly on your site / landing page. I would advise using the event setup tool to reconfigure everything on your site, and then I’d use the Facebook Pixel Helper Chrome extension to double check everything after that. Also, it might be worth checking into your store / catalog settings if you have them.
You're welcome! I made my landing page on my own site, but if you don't have that capability, I would recommend using ToneDen. They have a great free landing page tool you can use. Thanks for watching!
@@tomdupreeiii The reason Im asking is because I actually used ToneDen to make my landing pages, however a few ads I set up, Facebook disapproved them because they said the landing page doesnt abide by their policies. SO ToneDen didnt work for me. Ill try making some on my personal website. Thanks for the help man! As for PixelMe, looks like you have to pay for the subscription to retarget pixels like how you explain in this video, right?
Hey just wanted to say thanks for making such an easy to understand video!! You explain things so well and I definitely feel more confident trying out more things for my client ads.
Hi Tom thanks for your first reply, just another quick one! I've set up the ad identical to this video, countries, market etc However after a week, I've noticed that the Facebook and Toneden data are similar, thousands of Spotify conversions however none of the data equates into any Spotify streams at all? Is there any reason for this? Am i doing something wrong? Cheers
Charlie Steel hmmm... that’s odd. I’d recommend double checking all of your pixel installation to make sure everything is firing as it should. Use the event test tool on Facebook. After that, cross reference the countries where you’re getting lots of traffic on Facebook with the countries where people are listening on Spotify. Find the inconsistencies and remove those countries from your targeting.
@@tomdupreeiii Okay thanks mate, had a lot of traffic from Algeria and Tunisia maybe its that, thanks again for the reply! your videos are a godsend to people like myself, keep it up. All the best x
I would recommend learning the ropes for yourself and running your own ad campaign. You’re going to pay an extra $50 to have ToneDen do it for you, which could be spent on ads if you do it yourself.
@@tomdupreeiii yes that’s basically what I thought. Do they charge 50$ to use their service or do they add a certain amount to the ad price? Thank you by the Way!
@@tomdupreeiii thank you so much. I been using FB ads for 1 year so far. I wanted to have an honest opinion about Toneden. One more question, when you create your vertical story ads video, do you also add “swipe up, stream on Spotify and Spotify logo” in the video? I read mixed opinions about it. Thanks again
@@kateklein4507 yeah, I do include those things. I think it’s important to be as clear as possible about what you want the user to do and what they can expect when the do it. In this case, you want them to swipe up and they can expect to listen to music on Spotify. No confusion.
Hi, I am a little bit confused as facebook asks me to set up a pixel code on my website. Could you please help? I have a Pixel ID that I'm gonna insert on Feature Fm, but I don't understand what's this pixel code and why I have to connect It to my website. Thanks so much
You’ll need to copy the Pixel ID from the events manager and paste it into the proper field on Feature FM or whichever platform you use for you landing page. If you don’t have a Pixel yet, you’ll need to create one.
Tom DuPree III thank you so much for replying. So I did it, now If I go to “open event setup tool” and try to add the landing page url, I have a window saying “ we haven’t received any events for the pixel # . Please check that the pixel code on your website is set up correctly” . Hope it makes sense :)
Kate Klein World totally get it. You’ll need to use the event test tool to initiate a pixel fire from your landing page. That will “unclog the pipes” so to speak.
Omg great video!! Thank you! I have 2 questions though and if you happen to have time to answer, I‘d be so thankful! Does this work with any landing page like smarturl etc? And if you use toneden and add the pixel there, do you still have to do what you showed in this video setting up the conversion event etc? I thought tracking the conversions already happens through toneden.
Hi MusEquency here: Thanks for the video! I am using DistroKid to distribute my Lofi Beats and other Hip Hop Music at the moment. Will I need a Facebook business account to advertise? I am hoping to gain followers on Spotify. However, I'm just starting out. As an Artist how can I create a playlist? I have some awesome music and hopefully one day I will find the same success you have found here on RUclips. Thanks again!
All great questions here. Yes, you will need a business account to advertise on Facebook. That is the best way to drive traffic to Spotify so your head is in the right place. And then to create an artist playlist, you’ll need to make one with your personal account and then you can feature it on your artist profile. Hope that helps. Thanks for the comment!
If I want to use a pixel to create custom conversions in for say Flowpage, a landing page that I use. It says that I can install the facebook pixel in my site, is this what you use for setting up the custom event?
can yoy help with this? Here's the reason from Facebook: New Event Setup Required - This event isn't set up on a domain. To run this ad set, select a new event. If your ad set is already published, you need to duplicate it before selecting a new event. You can also configure your event settings in Events Manager. i have an add running on facebook and want to run another through tone den
Hey Tom! Excellent Vids. So much valuable info. I do have a question regarding Pixels. I have a total of 4 bands that play different subgenres of Metal and target slightly different audiences give or take some. Would you suggest making a separate Pixel for all of them or just run them on one pixel?
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks so much! That's exactly what I just did. I thought having different audience templates would do the trick but I guess a little something more was needed.
I have a question! whenever I click "track new button" the only button the event's setup allows me to click on my landing. page is the "report a problem" button - how do I fix this?
Love this video. Just wondering - how did you create the landing page with the spotify/apple links? Is it embedded or did you create it yourself? Thanks!
Hi Tom - We spoke briefly in one of your Friday lives. I've been trying to set up multiple view content events, 1 to send to my spotify artist page in one campaign, and for my other campaign to send directly latest release. Is creating a 'Spotify Conversion' alongside the typical view content the best way around this? I keep seeing messages from FB letting me know that my campaign with the 'Spotify Conversion' will be paused once the new IOS 14 kicks in
I would use one view content conversion event for all of your campaigns and split things out by url when you want to retarget. And you can create new custom conversions as well if you want to use those.
Bro do we get website visitors data before we place pixels? i mean can we retarget to all the audience who had come to our website even before putting the pixel?
No, unfortunately not if you want to retarget them on Facebook. Your Facebook pixel will have to be installed before it will have access to your website data, so anything that happened before the pixel is installed will not be accessible to Facebook.
Hey Tom! Would we be able to just paste our Spotify profile URL link instead of a landing page? Wouldn’t that eliminate the landing page step and send them straight to where we want? Or is this not allowed? Thanks for your time
Yeah, this is definitely allowed and now a problem at all for a traffic campaign, but I would recommend using a conversion campaign with a landing page. It will get you better traffic and open up more retargeting options later.
Wow, this is such an amazing video as it allows you to retarget specifically to those with Spotify, or those who use Apple Music. With all the changes that have now occurred, I think it'd be a great idea to upload a video that outlines how to set up from beginning to end these custom events. Espeically because in order to use ToneDen, we all have custom domains now. So it'd be amazing to realize the full potential of those domains, and be able to sort between Spotify and Apple Music - and then retarget our audiences based on that pixel data!
@@tomdupreeiii I noticed you have a custom landing page i.e not Toneden, is there a site that you can recommend to do this, so we can embed our own pixl with our custom conversions through pixl per button?
Che Jose as of the making of this video, I was using my own website to create my landing pages. I’ve since switched to ToneDen because their landing pages load faster than my website (currently planning to relocate my site because of that) and load speed is a big factor. I now use ToneDen and create my audiences using the View Content metric with the ToneDen URL as the specific parameter.
@@tomdupreeiii ahh great to hear, I was using the Open setup tool on the same pixl trying to get multiple tonede.io pages (conversions with view event running) but it kept given errors every time I tracked the button for spotify (inflated results may appear as this even is already in use). I guess question is, do we need to run the setup tool for the button conversion on toneden landing pages? If the conversion events already seem to be embedded in those pages? bit confused! Keep up the great work Tom! Love you're channel!
@Che Jose you shouldn't need the event setup tool for ToneDen. They have a native option to connect directly to Facebook and select the pixel of your choice. Once you do that, everything is connect and set up for your automatically.
Thanks dude. I had to watch this three times over but by then I understood the whole thing. Thanks so much. Questions: Do you need to pause your forwarder page for say half a second to give the pixel time to load to collect the conversion successfully? (If it forwards immediately could the conversion be missed, or is the conversion data actually contained inside the URL itself as UTM parameters - meaning zero load time would still be ok?) Secondly and separately to the above question, if Facebook Ads “sees” that page forwarding is occurring, is there a possibility they could perceive that as spammy (even though in our case it’s legit) and that could hurt the campaign performance? Thanks so much!
Pretty Cinders Hey thanks for watching! I’m really glad you found the video helpful. These are great questions. The pixel data is stored in the URL itself, so no need to delay the forwarding action. I haven’t experienced any degradation in campaign performance as a result of using the forwarding link, so I don’t think it’s an issue. Having said that, I have switched to placing the links within a landing page and have seen better results from that. I send the user from the ad to a landing page and then to the chosen destination from there. This helps to weed out any potential bot clicks, which is super helpful.
Yes, you can! You can make the link, upload your artwork (instead of getting ToneDen to pull it from Spotify) and send the button link to your artist profile instead of the song link. Then you can switch that link in the landing page button when the song goes live. That's what I do!
Your videos are great! One major problem I'm having and I'm not sure if it's a bug or me, but setting up custom conversions from PixelMe to show as "Active" on Facebook Ad Manager is not working for me. I've tried everything possible. I have my pixel set up correctly in Pixel Me, I have my domain attached to my PixelMe account... Is anyone else having these problems. Thoughts on this, Tom?
Thanks again! I have just one issue setting up this thing! it doesn´t pop up the Facebook tool box. I have installed the FB pixel correctly on my landing page, I have deactivated all kind of firewalls , tested on 3 different pcs and macs . and the freaking tool box doesn´t show up. I also use the pixel helper and it shows that the event "view page" shows but other than that i can´t customize the actions buttons yet. have you had that issue before? what could be i am missing ? it´s really frustrating when i am getting so close to fix the secret sauce :D
I had the same issue using my website due to the “s” not being in “https”. Not sure if that’s the case with you but I would Google your specific site / landing page provider and Facebook pixel event tool to see if you can find the fix. Or you can simply switch to ToneDen or something like that and probably have an easier time.
How did you embed your pixel on your website? When I click the event setup tool it says “pixel was not detected on this website” despite getting triggers and the pixel helper saying there is one. Thanks
If you’ve gone through the steps to install it correctly on your site, it sounds like you may be running into issues with an ad blocker or double pixel install somewhere.
Hi Tom! Really appreciate your tutorials!!! I would like to clarify something please. I can use something like a Tonden landing page with an imbedded pixel to capture those who click on the Instagram story ad and arrive at the landing page. But that does not capture who actually clicked through to Spotify etc.? While I need to get PixelME to imbed additional pixels to capture who went on and clicked on a button on the landing page? Did I get that right? Thank you.
Hey thanks for the question! You're sort of right. With ToneDen your Facebook Pixel will tell you who clicked the ad, who landed on the landing page, and who clicked any of the buttons to go to a streaming platform by using the "View Content" metric on the button click. But you will not be able to tell who clicked which specific button (e.g. if you have links to both Spotify and Apple Music you will not have specific data for each individual button). By using PixelMe, you can use your subdomain forwarding link as the link in the button and can track clicks on that specific link on a per-button basis. So, again, if you have links to Spotify and Apple Music, you can put your link for "/spotify" on one button and "/applemusic" on the other button and then track those links as custom conversions from there. This will give you data that is link- and button-specific. Hope that helps!
@@tomdupreeiii thank you so much for your help. You are really doing so much for independent artists. Do you ever do a phone consultation to help someone with their first ad? I have done Facebook ads but none as complicated as this.
Backdoor Funk dude you’re so welcome. Thank you for saying that. I don’t do phone consultations but I am considering putting together a more in depth super-clear walkthrough that will lay everything out from start to finish. Maybe something like that could be helpful?
@@tomdupreeiii I would appreciate that walkthrough! especially if you could do it with pixel me and the domain forwarding link. btw what do you use for that anyway? like do you have like a wordpress website where you're able to create a redirect-link? if so whats the wordpress plugin called or simply... what do you use? I see you doing it with your domain but how do you create a forwarding link that only serves to redirect and not be a page on its own? if that makes sense lol
@Maxi Zee cool, I’m glad to have another vote for a full walkthrough! For the forwarding link, I’m just doing it through Google domains. You create a new CNAME record there and point it to to PixelMe. Sounds like I may need to do a vid on that too!
You only have to set up your pixel once (assuming you’re using the same landing page tool each time) but I do recommend testing your pixel fires every time you make a new landing page.
@@tomdupreeiii i set up the pixel/campaign for a song and now i want to promote a different song, do i have to set up a new events set up tool for the new campaign? thanks for responding!
If you are creating a Jew landing page using a website, then probably yes. If you’re using ToneDen or something similar, no. You can simply create a Jew landing page and drop your pixel ID in there and it’ll work.
Hey thanks so much for the sub! That’s interesting. I’m honestly not sure. I’d think that as long as you have the rights to use the music it shouldn’t be a problem.
So you need to set up an intermediate static page with a couple buttons, one of which is Spotify. But you cannot embed a pixel into your Spotify profile.
Hey Tom, i created my landing page with feature fm and want to use the event setup tool. But i cant click with this tool my buttons "play". Do you know this problem and can help me? Greetings from Germany
I'm afraid I'm not as experienced with FeatureFM as I am with ToneDen. If the two are similar at all, they may already have the conversion events mapped for you, which would allow you to bypass the Event Setup Tool altogether. Try testing your events before mapping them to see if it works!
Hey! Trying to walk through the process. I have this error show-up when I follow on with Event Setup window: "We haven't received any events for the pixel Valevych's Pixel. Please check that the pixel code on your website is set up correctly. " I am new to this meta advertising world, could you update on the issue I am having here?
You'll need to add your pixel to your landing page and then interact with it and that will go away after you refresh the page. You just have to activate it by engaging with it the first time. I'm not intimately familiar with Hypeddit because I don't use it, but I believe the "Meta Pixel" setup is the path to take.
Tom this is a great video, but can you expand on the setup of pixelme? I'm kinda stuck atm, have signed up for a new account created the pixl, created a new CNAMe record under my domain e,g Artist.com/spotifypixl but it doesn't seem to work. Would great if you can show us this in detail?
Che Jose sorry to hear you're having setup issues. Yes, I will be glad to make a video on the PixelMe setup process to help you get up and running. Thank you for asking!
sub+1 Hi Tom - If I'm primarily interested in Spotify promotion for an ad, is there a downside of just running a direct to Spotify FB ad without a landing page? I would target Spotify in the FB ad audience. I'm wondering if that's essentially the same as optimizing for Spotify conversions. So, I understand the reason conversions are better when you have a landing page, but I'm trying to reduce clicks by not having a landing page.
Hey thanks for the sub! Great question. Using a landing page has a couple of benefits. You can further qualify your audience’s interest by requiring them to click through. Secondly, you can track those conversions with your pixel on a landing page, allowing you to create custom and lookalike audiences from those results. Linking directly to Spotify decreases your retargeting options and also opens you up much more heavily to bot clicks. You can use a trackable link in that regard, but I’ve heard of people having their ad accounts banned for that practice so I’m not positive on the rules there. I like landing pages because they avoid all of that.
Hey, Tom! Great videos! very helpful I have a problem though. I've set up my campaign using ToneDen landing page. And everything seem to be working except Facebooks showing me 200 conversions as well as Tonedens analytics , but Spotify's showing me only 2-3 streams. Have you ever heard about this kind of problem and if you have could you please help me out. Thank you !
Man, that's a bummer. Sorry to hear that. I would cross reference the country lists from Facebook and ToneDen. See where you're getting a lot of traffic. Compare that with the country list of listeners on Spotify. There's likely to be a big discrepancy between the two. Turn off the countries from your targeting that are causing the issue.
maybe you should explain which websites you CAN and can't use... it seems like you have a limited amount of options. You can't actually use a RUclips or Spotify URL you have to essentially put those on a landing page on your own website... CORRECT?
Technically you can use those URLs, you just can't run conversions on them. I recommend using ToneDen as your landing page and inserting your Spotify, RUclips, etc. links in there.
We are a band from Brazil. A independent band...and I would like to thank you so much for this video. Helps a lot to understand the whole thing
Awesome! I’m so glad it helped.
bro you just opened up a whole new approach to my targeting and data collecting! you the man!
Maxi Zee man you’re so welcome! I’m glad you dig the video. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I'm so glad you found it helpful. Thank you for watching and sharing!
great info dude, you rock! been doing ads for 1 year for spotify playlists, and i randomly got lucky with traffic campaigns, and got frustrated once they stopped working all of a sudden. Now this conversion approach sure solves alot of headache, configured the pixel and i m already seeing results. You got yourself 1 subscriber
Glad this was helpful! Thanks for the sub!
Most artists benefit from using the standard events because they don't know the full ins and outs of creating custom events, etc.
thanks for the info! if I already have some pixel num (IDK how it's possible) how can I fix that problem?
I'm not sure what you mean by "pixel num". Can you elaborate?
@@tomdupreeiii thx for the reply. yeah surly here’s a thing. I have already existed pixel in Facebook (which is have his own unique number) so I thought that my problem (in the first way of setting) is the pixel existence. Because it’s didn’t work for me. Eventually after more RUclips videos I get some understanding conversions and now I’m struggle with the domains problems of FB ads
@@MRGINZBURG yeah the domain issue is a new one. I’m planning to do a video on that very soon!
@@tomdupreeiii oh nice gonna watch it. It’s absolutely actual. Btw what’s your opinion on toneden ?

Can anyone help me, i've spent a whole day trying to figure this out??

Thanks for the video. I just have question about how do you configure "the pixelme" website.
I assume you mean getting the domain to point to PixelMe? You'll need to update your CNAME record with your domain provider. Point that to PixelMe.me. I probably should do a video on that setup process.
Thank you for sharing this!!! It helps a lot with small musicians who want to get heard

Thank you! My pleasure.
Thanks for the video Tom, I really needed this 🙏🏽
Man you bet. Glad it helped!
Wow so useful! Thanks! Do you think its a good idea to add youtube in the landing page/ hyperlink?
Thank you. This was a really helpful video. I didn’t know how to set-up tracking directly to Spotify and you had a solution. Thanks again!
Awesome! So glad it helped. Thanks for watching!

Hi Tom,
I have set up a toneden landing page, linked a subdomain, set up a new pixel and linked that to the toneden page. The pixel is picking up events on the landing page, do I need to do anything else with the pixel or will it work as is?
Thanks Tom
Sounds like you've got everything set exactly as it should be!
@@tomdupreeiii Also dumb question, do I need to create a new pixel and subdomain for each toneden/fb campaign? Many thanks.
Thx for going into every detail exactly what I was seeking
No problem!
The only things that I think could be wrong is that:
1 - there is no ad running and I have already clicked that link numerous times so the pixel does not count it as an event from my device
2 - the redirect is going to an external link (which I do not own or control) from my landing page so it cannot count the event. But this doesn’t make sense to me if I’ve programmed the pixel to fire an event simply off a button click on my end
You talked about the second issue in the video briefly but I’ve been having a difficult time understanding it with your references to pixelme... do I absolutely need to purchase pixelme for everything to work?
Your video is awesome, very well constructed! I hope that my campaign will be great! Thanks in advance!
I’m so glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
I salute you Sir..I can tell you hit a few probs in setting this up but you over came them...are you a programmer?

Love this. How did you create that landing?
This is probably going to be a stupid question but how do i make a conversion just for spotify? lol as when i make the coversion link it links all of the services that have play on it
You can create a custom conversion based on URL and use the link that's in the button you want to use specifically.

Hey Tom, I have difficulties adding my Pixel base code to my website. Which website should this be? How do I do this? I'd be happy for any help.

@@tomdupreeiii thanks for the answer
Hey Tom! Thanks for the video. Do you know is the facebook pixel tracking works for a URL genius link that then directs directly to my Spotify page?
Also bc when I add either my Spotify artist page directly or the URL genius link that directs people directly (ha) to my Spotify artist page, that little box that popped up on your page at 3:04 didn't pop up...
Anyone else get this weird alert when selected 'view content' in the pop up: Potential Duplicate Event -

BTW i subbed, great video!
That's weird. It sounds like you may have an issue with your Pixel installation on your site. Have you looked into that?
I am trying to promote my playlist! Going to try the same steps! Thank you 🔥

Having the same problem. Did you solve it?

However after a week, I've noticed that the Facebook and Toneden data are similar, thousands of Spotify conversions however none of the data equates into any Spotify streams at all? Is there any reason for this? Am i doing something wrong? Cheers
Charlie Steel hmmm... that’s odd. I’d recommend double checking all of your pixel installation to make sure everything is firing as it should. Use the event test tool on Facebook. After that, cross reference the countries where you’re getting lots of traffic on Facebook with the countries where people are listening on Spotify. Find the inconsistencies and remove those countries from your targeting.

Hi Tom, whats more effective , a Toneden Spotify ads growth campaign made or a straight Facebook ads campaign? Thanks
My understanding is that you pay $50 to use the service and then your ad spend on top of that.

Kate Klein World totally get it. You’ll need to use the event test tool to initiate a pixel fire from your landing page. That will “unclog the pipes” so to speak.

Does this work with any landing page like smarturl etc?
And if you use toneden and add the pixel there, do you still have to do what you showed in this video setting up the conversion event etc? I thought tracking the conversions already happens through toneden.
Hi MusEquency here:
Thanks for the video!

You can either use a custom event for that, or you can use a standard event and set it up with the Event Setup Tool. I'd recommend the latter.
Great content. Thanks Tom!!

If your ad set is already published, you need to duplicate it before selecting a new event. You can also configure your event settings in Events Manager. i have an add running on facebook and want to run another through tone den
You’ll need to make sure you’ve gone through the iOS 14 updates to get things set up right. This video dropped before those changes happened.
Hey Tom! Excellent Vids. So much valuable info. I do have a question regarding Pixels. I have a total of 4 bands that play different subgenres of Metal and target slightly different audiences give or take some. Would you suggest making a separate Pixel for all of them or just run them on one pixel?
I would have a separate ad account for each band / business in this case.
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks so much! That's exactly what I just did. I thought having different audience templates would do the trick but I guess a little something more was needed.

Hi Tom, love the videos. Could u do a video on the PixelMe link set up ? Would be much appreciated.
Hey you bet! Thanks for watching and thanks for the request.
Amazing content. 👏😀👏👊
Thank you 🙌
That’s what I’m trying to find now, please let me know if you find any videos helping you start up from the very beginning
how do you do video for your ad?
You can see my whole process here: ruclips.net/video/VIPi6VCHyQ4/видео.html
where can we get the same smart link url to promote our links
Thanks Tom saw this video and figured it out!
Che Jose awesome! I’m glad I could help!
Tom DuPree III understood. Excellent reply. Thank you.
hey tom I am about to set this up, just wondering can I still create fanlink if my song is not released yet? If yes how?
Yes, you can! You can make the link, upload your artwork (instead of getting ToneDen to pull it from Spotify) and send the button link to your artist profile instead of the song link. Then you can switch that link in the landing page button when the song goes live. That's what I do!
@@tomdupreeiii this is very amazing info here thanks
Your videos are great! One major problem I'm having and I'm not sure if it's a bug or me, but setting up custom conversions from PixelMe to show as "Active" on Facebook Ad Manager is not working for me. I've tried everything possible. I have my pixel set up correctly in Pixel Me, I have my domain attached to my PixelMe account... Is anyone else having these problems. Thoughts on this, Tom?
I got it to work. I feel like a dummy. I forgot to put the pixelme link in toneden lol
Glad you got it figured out!
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks again Tom , i´ve done the "s" thig also , will check another providers to install my pixel and see if it works . cheers
How did you link spotify to your custom link on your landing page ?
I used a service called PixelMe.
Sounds like I may need to do a vid on that too!
do you have to set this up for each new link your promoting?
You only have to set up your pixel once (assuming you’re using the same landing page tool each time) but I do recommend testing your pixel fires every time you make a new landing page.
@@tomdupreeiii i set up the pixel/campaign for a song and now i want to promote a different song, do i have to set up a new events set up tool for the new campaign? thanks for responding!
If you are creating a Jew landing page using a website, then probably yes. If you’re using ToneDen or something similar, no. You can simply create a Jew landing page and drop your pixel ID in there and it’ll work.

New subscriber here! very helpful!
Just have a question, I'm getting an active warning about content catalog and content id,would it affect my ads?
Hey thanks so much for the sub! That’s interesting. I’m honestly not sure. I’d think that as long as you have the rights to use the music it shouldn’t be a problem.
How is it possible to copy and paste the code on the website? I cant do it for some reason.
My god thank you for this! I've been tearing my hair out for days trying to set up a conversion campaign and I kept getting facebook pixel errors!
Glad I could help!
Me too...hope this video helps!
Could i just link hyperfollow to this ? as standertlink ? i mean i dont own it but it would be nice if it works
I believe hyperlink now has pixel tracking, so yes, though I always recommend using your own domain.
I had to sub after this one thanks my dude
!
So you need to set up an intermediate static page with a couple buttons, one of which is Spotify. But you cannot embed a pixel into your Spotify profile.
Yep, you've got it exactly right!
Can somebody tell me where we need this conversion? What it helps and why I need to do this? Why not using basic adds without all this husle?
This doesn’t tell you how to make that landing page? Please help,
I’ll do another video on that process. You’re not the first to ask about that. Thank you for the suggestion!
@@tomdupreeiii Tanks Zom that would be great I have a new release in a few weeks
Very helpful!! Congratulations and thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
How would I do this If I'm only sending people to Spotify, how do I track that? Do I still have tu us a toneden link etc.
I would recommend using a ToneDen landing page with a conversion campaign. That’s what I do.
@@tomdupreeiii But if I only send people to Spotify I can just see in the ads manager how many followed the link right?
@@AndreiSatorII yes but you can’t retarget them or run a conversion campaign that way.
@@tomdupreeiii Thank you
Hey! Trying to walk through the process. I have this error show-up when I follow on with Event Setup window: "We haven't received any events for the pixel Valevych's Pixel. Please check that the pixel code on your website is set up correctly. " I am new to this meta advertising world, could you update on the issue I am having here?
In the Set-Up Web Events do I choose "Conversions API" or "Meta Pixel" ? I am trying to link it up to hypeddit link.
You'll need to add your pixel to your landing page and then interact with it and that will go away after you refresh the page. You just have to activate it by engaging with it the first time. I'm not intimately familiar with Hypeddit because I don't use it, but I believe the "Meta Pixel" setup is the path to take.
Its too funny when Tom says "welcome to... my.... lifeee"😂
Haha!
bro the custom conversions dont workkkk
Tom this is a great video, but can you expand on the setup of pixelme? I'm kinda stuck atm, have signed up for a new account created the pixl, created a new CNAMe record under my domain e,g Artist.com/spotifypixl but it doesn't seem to work. Would great if you can show us this in detail?
Che Jose sorry to hear you're having setup issues. Yes, I will be glad to make a video on the PixelMe setup process to help you get up and running. Thank you for asking!

No problem!
sub+1 Hi Tom - If I'm primarily interested in Spotify promotion for an ad, is there a downside of just running a direct to Spotify FB ad without a landing page?
@@tomdupreeiii makes sense.. I guess what I was missing was that it might actually be a good thing to double validate someone is interested. Thanks
Tom DuPree III thank you for helping !:) I'll try
@@alHermes Hi, I have the EXACT same issue, did you manage to resolve this by any chance?
maybe you should explain which websites you CAN and can't use... it seems like you have a limited amount of options.
