For those with problems to select the pixel, saying "no web event to select in this pixel": there is no need to actually install the pixel on your website. Instead, link your website to Toneden (as Tom already explained how he did it in his last video). Then, go to your events manager, select your pixel, and then go Settings (of the pixel) and in the last option there is "traffic permissions". You have to add your domain there as "Domains on your allow list". Then, generate traffic in your landing page in toneden, wait 30 minutes and you can already select your pixel on that step because facebook already recognized the event on your website.
Hey man thanks for all those videos you putting out… one quick comment probably worth a video about it. Since the release of iOS ATT, Facebook has now changed the default attribution window when you create new convertion Ad… and it’s set to “7 day click” only… instead of “7 day click or 1 day view”. That will cause a tremendous ad spending with little convertion and crazy long learning phase…
Gee Tom THANK YOU for this video man, honestly. I see also that you take the time to answer almost all of the comments so that's amazing man. I know this question has been asked a lot on the comments but I still haven't been able to get it solved. When I click on add event and hover over my pixel, it's all greyed out even though both my pixel and my "View Content" campaign are active (I'm currently running a campaign as I try to get all of this sorted out). I'm blatantly stuck at this point.
Hey thank you for watching! Yeah, this is definitely a common issue. You're not the only one by any means. What you'll need to do is send pixel data from your custom domain. So you could connect it to ToneDen for instance and then interact with your landing page. Test it with the event test tool. Once you've confirmed it's working and you've sent data, wait 24-48 hours and it shouldn't be grayed out any longer.
Hey thanks for this! However with toneden and this method it only ensures we can deliver the ads to iOS devices, we won’t be able to actually track conversions? Because for that we would have to have conversions api as well right?
@@tomdupreeiii oh that’s weird, I heard multiple times that it won’t track the iOS 14 conversions if you don’t integrate api (the only reason I‘m using hypeddit instead of toneden)
Sorry to sound thick but do we have to have a hosted domain in order to do all this? I have a website address which I own but don't have hosted at the moment because I never use it. I ONLY want to use ToneDen as a landing page to create adverts on Facebook so why do I need to have a domain name and separate website? Should I start hosting my domain again so that I can then run adverts to ToneDen? - it seems sort of counter-intuitive but if I have to I will!! Thanks and glad to have found your channel! Sophy :)
This is a great question. No, you don't have to actually have a hosted site anywhere. You only need the domain. You can connect that directly to ToneDen and you're all set from there!
@@rockdevils3662 the landing page is a Toneden link BUT this link leads to your Spotify page. But you need something for people to click into so use a Toneden link so you can keep track as you cannot put pixels directly onto your Spotify page. Hope that helps :)
How do I know if my custom conversion is doing what it’s supposed to? On my ad set, I select “View Content” but when I test my landing page, “view content” doesn’t pop up when I go through to my song from the landing page. Not sure if this made a lot of sense, please help if you can. Thanks! Awesome content too btw, super helpful
If the conversion event isn’t showing up in your event manager when you interact with your landing page then you likely have a setup issue somewhere. I’d try to suss that out.
hello Tom, im trying to figure out why I dont have "resource center" tab in my ad manager. Would you happen to know where could I access to that resource center to see what I have to do regarding iOS 14 changes? Thanks
@@tomdupreeiii could be that, FaceBook is so complicated. But I did something and I got notice to go to resource center and when I clicked on it, it didn’t lead me anywhere. I think im on my business account that is managed by my personal FaceBook account
Tom, I think this issue is being addressed below, but am not entirely sure. I am on the Edit Web Event Configurations Page. I have clicked on Add Event and see a drop down with two choices, both of which are greyed out and not firing. The first is for my pixel, the second for an option "Custom Conversion" I'm confused as to whether or not here's where I have to wait up to 48 hours for something to happen internally within Facebook. I am set up at Toneden with a subdomain at my website pointing to Toneden. I am completely stopped and not sure what, if anything to do next.
Hey sorry you’re having problems with this! Here’s what it sounds like you need to do / confirm you’ve done: 1) Connect your custom domain to ToneDen. 2) create a smart link with your custom domain. 3) interact with that landing page via Facebook ads event manager to confirm you are receiving signal. 4) wait 48 - 72 hours for the connection to propagate with Facebook (not sure why it’s taking so long right now but it is) 5) once it goes through you’ll be able to select your pixel or a custom conversion from the drop down and you’ll be good to go!
You’ll have to send conversion event data from your own domain so that you can create that as an option in ad manager. Once you have it on your own domain you can use it with another. Having said that I would advise switching to ToneDen as they said they will now connect our custom domains for free which will make everything super easy now.
@@tomdupreeiii Hey Tom, I'm also curious about this. I've verified my own website domain with Facebook Business and it seems to be set up correctly. I've created a custom conversion that targets specifically anyone who clicks the Spotify link on my Distrokid Hyperfollow page. The conversion is firing and active but when selected during set up of my ad set, it still gives me the warning that "This event hasn't been set up on any of your domains." Am i missing something? I've contacted Distrokid as well
@@omstheband the pixel data has to come from your actual domain to set things up unfortunately. So you’ll have to use a different option until DistroKid ads that functionality.
Hey Tom, thanks for the video. Seems like my country (Norway) doesn't offer the chance to do Registration setting - > DNS (should I change country?) Also I have a website with a pixel on it, but only my hypeddit appears when it is about verifiying the domain... what went wrong here?
Hmm... all kind of odd. If you’ve gone through the proper steps to connect your domain and verified it, it should appear. As for DNS, yeah you may need to switch counties so you can set that up. No clue why Norway wouldn’t allow that.
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks for your answer Tom, I found the reason why it was not working, I used Wordpress for my website, so I had to do the DNS steps from Wordpress. Hope this helps those who use Wordpress too. Now I am struggling since my pixel has no events and can't go over 10:43 (my pixel is grey and unselectable - no web events associated), but I guess I will find a way :)
Hey Tom. I got too Edit Web Event Configurations segment and clicked add event. I can see my pixels there but they are gray and when I click them it says. No web event too select in this pixel. How do I more forward
Hey Tom, when I try to add the pixel to my domain in "Edit Web Event Configurations" all of them that I see there are greyed out and I can't click. Do you have any idea what I can do to fix this??
@@tomdupreeiii Good morning Tom! I too am currently experiencing the greyed out options which 1st, if you had time, would be amazing if you provided a video for troubleshooting this particular error. I wanted to ask how or where can we find more information on how to send pixel data from our own domain to active the conversion options in events manager? I've been searching but haven't come across anywhere that provides more information about that. On a side note, I stumbled about 2 additional solutions that may work for others in your community experiencing this or reading this comment. 1.) On the top right of your screen inside events manager, ensure that you are in your ads account. manager profile and not your business settings manager account. 2.) Clear your cache in Google Chrome which you can do by click the settings tab in your Google Chrome browser. Through a couple of forums I've visited these 2 options have helped some where there events and pixel became accessible in the events manager tab, but like everyone else here, I still experience the greyed out even after trying the 2 solutions discovered, lol. H-E-L-P Tom. I look forward to your response and I thank you for your time. -JC
question ... have these chages taken place already? im attempting to do this.. my domain name is verified but when i try to go back to resources tab i dont see review available conversion events... please help am i to late?
hey mate, great vids. When I go to add event my pixel its greyed out and I can't choose it? i did have to setup this business manager thing also. now the pixel number showing up is also different to the pixel number im running on my ads currently? any chance you know what's going on?
If your pixel number is different you may be using your personal accounts pixel and not the one on your business account. You’ll need to send pixel data from your actual domain to active those options to add your event. You can do that by connecting your domain to ToneDen and interacting with the page.
@@tomdupreeiii legend, thanks for the reply. yeah I was using the wrong pixel. I connected my domain to toneden, made a new link with my domain and updated the pixel and the link in a duplicate of an existing ad campaign on FB. The toneden data is saying there's click throughs and the ad has conversions. im kind of just confused now because I still haven't even setup the web event configurations because its still greyed out and not showing any pixel data. any of that make sense to you? cheers tom
*Little update, my pixel isn't greyed out anymore and is available in web event configurations. just took some time. you're a legend. cheers mate . Ps between yours and Andrews videos ive been able to get almost 200K streams in the past 2 months . So huge thank you.
It’s in the process of happening. We can still use ToneDen without the domain but they just announced that we can now connect our own domain for free so it’s even easier now.
Thank for this video, I guess it must have been a lot of work. I am so new to that I want to start advertising next month. I have to admit I'm a bit overwhelmed by these new things I have to learn... Tell me if I'm wrong, but provided I follow every step you mentionned, the only thing that this new iOS 14 thing has changed if that we now need to buy a domain? There is no way we can use ToneDen landing page directly, because it won't be counted as registered ?
Yes, you do to set things up. But it looks like as long as you have a conversion event setup on your domain you can also run that same conversion event on another domain. But you can’t control which conversion event is setup on that other domain. Fortunately though, ToneDen just announced that they will connect our custom domains for free now so we won’t need to worry about it.
Hi! when I clik on review pixels it says that i dont have a bussiness acount and that i have to change my personal to a bussiness one? could you help me?
ive an issue when i got to the "edit web event configuration" step(10:46). When i want to select my pixel, it appears in gray saying "no web event to select in this pixel" (i translated it from french, i might be a little different in the english version of FBads). At this point i don't know what to do... Can you help me please
You’ll need to install your pixel and send data to Facebook with the event test tool. Facebook has to receive pixel data to know it’s been setup correctly.
@@tomdupreeiii Hi Tom, I succefully set up a subscribe event on my web site which allows me to use it in my campaign (woohoo). However i'd like to use a custom "SpotifyClickThrough" event that i've created before. The issue is that it doesn't appear in my sep up list of events when I configure events on my website. Can we still use custom conversion events, or do we have to deal with the view content only?
Thanks Tom! So do people still just land on your fanlink/toneden/distrokid landing page without seeing the random website in between? The domain of the site is simply used for registering and not for landing on then right? Also saw that Andrew S. mentioned we can (for now) proceed as normal and just unpause the ads once you hit publish and they automatically get paused.
Yep that’s right. They go straight to ToneDen. No middle man with my site or anything. And I haven’t had any of my ads get paused when creating anything new. It’s all worked as usual for me.
So after verifying domain, all events which are used on funnel like standard ( like Lead, schedule etc)and custom conversions need to be added in aggregated event measurement and ad need to be resubmitted by reselecting event, correct?
I am watching this video over and over again. Could you please make a video about Facebook Coversion API? I am not really understand how CAPI works along side with Facebook's Pixel with the changes in iOS14
Great video Tom. My pixel is also greyed out when I go to add a new event. However, in events manager my View Content event is active, but it isn't showing any results when I test the event. Only the Page View event is working for me. Do i just need to wait 24 hours and the pixel won't be greyed out anymore?
Hey Tom, great video. I recently saw some of your comments about not having to buy a domain but I might be misunderstanding you. Is a domain definitely required or is there another way to do this? Thanks so much.
Hello Tom, thank you for the video! I am wondering what to do if we have two pixels connected to one website using two different ad accounts. I was doing this because of I have one main product category (connected to pixel 1) and other sub categories within the website that would be used within the second pixel. However, I am realizing with this aggregated measurement task that, maybe I should migrate everything into one ads manager instead and have all Aggregated events from purchase to content view + "value Optimization" turned on? What do you think?
I would definitely only use one pixel per site / brand. Having multiple pixels on one site is redundant. You can capitalize on all use cases with one and split your data by event, URL, etc.
sup yall. everytime i try to access web event configurations is says "Your ad account isn't associated with a business account. To see events, upgrade to a Business Manager account." but my buisness account doesnt even have the option to access web event configuration. how do i fix this?
Hey Tom, great job with your channel! I am following you since a bit and share the same pains in the *ss with trying to get the perfect combination for a campaign to work. I am stuck with this iOS14 thing...when I go to resource center --> review pixels, the events manager states "Your ad account isn't associated with a business account. To see events, upgrade to a Business Manager account.". I already created a business account in the past, but opted to use my personal account in the fb business manager to run ads. Now, if I try to associate my personal account with the business account, and I put the name of my Facebook page, the message states "Unable to Create Account. You are trying to create a business with the same name as one you are already a part of. Please pick a different name." I don't want to CREATE a business account, I just want to CONNECT it to an already existing one to solve this f**ing iOS14 thing... do you have any ideas on how to solve? I tried to deactivate the existing business account but it seems it does not help...
Man that’s tough. I’be never encountered that but off the top of my head I might advise trying to create a new ad account that’s connected to both your business manager and your business page. Run everything through that instead of your personal account. See if that gives you the proper options.
@@tomdupreeiii managed to do it through the business manager, with a new ad account. Set everything up also with domain verification for iOS14, both with Toneden and Facebook. Launched a new campaign with the view content conversion event (seemed the custom conversion event with a "url contains" did not show up in the ad sets as a choice... Like it is not possible anymore to use custom conversions with verified domains... ). Hope having set everything correctly... Thanks for your explanatory videos... 🙏🙏🙏
@@tomdupreeiii hey Tom, one doubt just crossed my mind. While the campaign is running and, say, you have a link in your instagram bio pointing to your track's landing page... Do you use the same landing page that you use for the conversion campaign? Or keep things separated not to screw data / mix traffic?
I use the same link everywhere. I see the value in keeping things separate to a certain degree, but I’m not splitting things out at such a granular level so I don’t need the option.
Hi, I understood your concept. Just wanna confirm so using this view content event we can retarget people who visited one page of our website but did not visited the other page on our website like earlier right sir ?
For anyone who still has the greyed out Pixel selection in Web Event Configurations even after linking to ToneDen. A hidden fix might be that your settings in your Pixel Data Sources settings aren't all switched on. Go to your Pixel under Events Manager, Click Settings & Scroll down to Advanced Matching. Open the menu under Automatic advanced matching and click Show All Options. Now turn ALL of these settings on for it to correctly connect through to ToneDen and allow Pixel Event Tracking, including the 'External ID' setting if it's currently off. Hope this helps :) P.S - Thanks Tom for your great videos!
It sounds like you're probably using a personal ad account instead of a business account then. If that's the case, you'll definitely need to switch to a business account to continue running conversion ads.
Hey Tom! big fan of your channel and thank you for doing what you do! I have followed along step by step with your video. When I get to "Creating new conversion events for your domain" all my pixels are greyed out. I have set everything else up. I let it all settle for a couple weeks, went back to try this again but my pixels are still greyed out. Any insight is appreciated.
Hey thanks so much for the kind words! You're definitely not the only one having this problem. To fix it you'll need to send pixel data from your custom domain to Facebook. Connect your domain to ToneDen and send data from a landing page to the event test tool on Facebook. Once you do that, wait 24-48 hours and it should be activated.
@@tomdupreeiii thanks for getting back to me! I actually ended up making a new “business” on Facebook and everything went perfect. My original setup for my “business” was pretty poor and I felt the best way to move forward was to start fresh. If I come across a similar issue, I’ll definitely revisit this advice 🙏🏼
@@tomdupreeiii Heya, unfortunately it's greyed out and says 'No custom conversion event available to select from this business account'. I do however have custom events firing. Do you know what's up with that?
@@tomdupreeiii All good thanks - the custom events were coming in via Google Tag Manager but I hadn't actually set them up as Custom Conversions in FB. Ads now running! Looking forward to getting some insights :)
@@tomdupreeiii I'm thinking about to make my own landing page with wordpress, verify it and install Pixel on it. So if there are any issues between facebook and 3rd party landing page services like toneden or hyperfollow in the future, I avoid the struggle with it from now on. Do you see any problems with this strategy? Any pro's for the 3rd party services in this comparison?
It looks like ToneDen just dropped a video today (perfect timing) saying that they will connect your domain for free (used to be $50) so you may not need to worry about making your own landing pages now, which is awesome!
On the events manager, in the pixel tab, dont let me select my pixel, it says its not associated with any web events, but i do have a toneden link with the pixel in there. Do you know what can I possibly do to solve this issue?
Thank you for the video. I just try to create conversion ads now 04/05/2021 and I can't choose conversion as optimization, it's set as landing page by default, what can I do to change it as the conversion window on optimization is not clickable
@@tomdupreeiii So, to put it mildly, it means that only webs can advertise, right? Do you know how much time we have left before implementing all this changes? Thanks!
Mine still work just fine. Fortunately, they just announced that we’ll be able to connect our own domains for free so that should make everything work for sure if you’re having problems.
The problem is, when I click "Add Event", when you talk about Web Event Configurations at 10:45 everything is greyed out and I can't select my pixel :(
You’ll need to send pixel data from your own domain to active the menu options. Use the event test tool to confirm it’s working then wait 24 hours and it should be good to go.
Hi Tom and thanks for the very helpful videos. I'm wondering whether referencing your website but having the toneden link as the actual destination will trigger an account disable for "circumventing FB ads review policy". Twice now that's happened to me while setting up the landing page link, although it was for the same basic ad, so it could be something else in the ad. The first time I was re-enabled after (human) review.
Hmm... now that I’m not sure about. I’ll look into which is newer but I do know you’ll need to use the business manager to stay up to date with the changes.
I've done all the steps just as you did. Am I allowed to still use a custom conversion in the ad set? When I select "ViewContent" as the conversion there's no problem but when I select "Spotify Conversion" (my custom conversion) it gives me an error screen saying the ad set will be paused during the iOS changes
@@tomdupreeiii figured it out, the display link and url have to match even tho it says its optional. & I guess you can't have any text in a ad, I removed the text from my single cover which was just numbers and it fix the grammar error
Does Facebook make things deliberately confusing to keep small advertisers paying without success & not compete with larger companies who are prioritised clients ?
They certainly don't make it overly simple. I think, like many things, the more time you spend inside the ad manager, the easier it gets and the more results you'll see. Just have to keep after it!
Hey Tom, I'm a little confused on how to get your custom domain onto the "review pixel/web event configuration's" section in the video (3:30). How do I set my personal domain (that isn't actually hosted as a website) to send pixel data to my facebook Ad manager since it isn't a functioning/hosted domain? Thanks for the help!
Hey there I’m hoping you could possibly give some advice and insight on three specific questions. Since post IOS as you’re already aware has caused data loss in ad reporting. To address this I’m using CAPI which I hired someone on Upwork to help me set up using google tag manager for events to be sent through a server as well as my browser. Which has worked to send all of my events including purchase events to Facebook. But the problem is, even though Facebook is receiving the purchase events which I can see being tracked in the events manager… For some reason only some of my purchase events are being reported back as conversions in the ads manager, and I’m not able to get accurate data to know which campaign or ad set the sales are coming from. So with that said I have some quick questions I’m hoping you can help me with… 1) Is there anything else I may have missed that is causing Facebook to be unable to link the purchase events to the ads in the ads manager reporting? 2) Does running ads without the data being picked up properly by Facebook “dumb down” the Facebook AI resulting in an impact to all my ads and future ads I run? 3) How do you determine to scale the correct ad sets when not sure which ad sets are doing well due to data not being received accurately in Facebook?
Darn. When I click on review pixels I get brought to a page that says I haven't set up a business account. I've been running ads from my personal fb account but linking them to my artist profiles. Do I have to verify a business account before doing anything you speak about in this video?
You’ll need to install the pixel on your site or landing page and interact with it (the site) to send data to Facebook before you can set everything up. Facebook has to receive signal from the pixel to know its being used.
@@tomdupreeiii I sucefully installed my pixel on my web site an kinda sucefully interacted with it, look : the pixel detects the page views correctly, but even if i set up some random event to some random buttons on my site (the search and the subscribe event) the pixel doesn't detect these events. Am I just supposed to wait a bit, or did I fail something in the process. Btw thanks for your video Tom!
At 10:48, when he gets to the dropdown to select his pixel, its greyed out for me, where I can't select my pixel. And unknown to me, there were already two events set up in there, which I can't edit or seem to remove. If anyone knows how to help I would GREATLY appreciate it!!
You’ll need to re-activate your pixel by sending data from your own domain. Connect the domain to ToneDen them interact with your landing page using the event test tool. From there, wait 24 hours and it shouldn’t be grayed out anymore!
I have assigned my pixel to my ad account in Business Settings and it's getting data from my website with the Event Test Tool. It's still getting the "no web event to select in this pixel" :(
@@tomdupreeiii no not yet, that’s what I want to achieve: for it to receive the conversion event. however I am unable to do so since my pixel is greyed out in the web configuration :’( been like this for days now
Ok you’ll need to make sure you have it set to send the view content event from your url. Make sure you receive that specific event using the event test tool. Are you using ToneDen for you landing page?
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks for your help so far! Have what set to send the view content event from my url? I am talking about the step you take @ 10:45 in this video. After verifying your domain. I set my domain in the Event Test Tool and Facebook is receiving data from my pixel, that's why it's weird that it says that it says "No web event to select in this pixel"
Hey Tom, after doing all these steps, will the user of iOS14 still view the scary message asking if he accepts to be tracked? To my understanding, it's what jeopardizes our ability to track their actions, right?
Yes. But it’s not as scary as Facebook is trying to make it out to be. Users are simply given the option to be tracked. In the event they opt out, there are still plenty of ways to capitalize on accessing iPhone users. It simply adjusts the dynamic a bit.
I verified my domain and added the events to it but for some reason there's still this menacing red triangle warning symbol on the pixel icon, which is on the left under the spotlight icon, whenever I go to events manager. Any ideas why? Do I just have to wait a bit?

@@tomdupreeiii okay so I have to implement the pixel in my domain that refers to the fanlink (say myband.com) and not only the fanlink? 🤔 Meaning, my website has to have its own pixel events?
Facebook has to receive data from your branded domain in order to set up the event. Once it’s set up, you can use that event with other non-branded domains that have the same event assigned.
@@tomdupreeiii weird, that's exactly what I did. I chose the branded sub domain in toneden (music.myband...) and the pixel is even on my hosted homepage and fetching data in the events manager. Still my pixel is greyed out. I am already in contact with the FB support, I'll let y'all know if I receive any valuable information, maybe this will help others.
Quick follow up here, after waiting about 18hrs (thats at least when I posted this comment yesterday) the pixel isnt greyed out anymore. Probably one has to wait for a day or so for the events to be correctly transferred. Many thanky Tom, cant wait for your next live stream
I verified the domain and also confirmed view content as the main conversion. But somehow FB doesn’t show any conversions but the campaign is running. My guess is because I use a third party LP and their domain is not verified on FB? Although I have a custom domain that redirects to my LP on toneden. Any idea?
You may need to send pixel data from your custom domain to Facebook to activate it. There are several comments on this video from people who have experienced the same thing.
Hey Tom good walk through, but i got stuck in one section. My domain is verified, when i went to add the new conversion events under my website, they where all greyed out. 'Edit web configuration' window. Not sure why this is the case?? If i hover over the available pixl its greyed out and I get a little pop up saying 'No web event to select in this pixl' Is there another step between the web site verification and creating the custom events that we need to do? I do have three Add accounts but they are all using the same PIXL and all have acess to it. So i'm a bit stuck.
I suppose it is possible the pixel needs to receive data from your actual URL. Mine is installed on both my website and ToneDen so I don’t have evidence of setting it up only on ToneDen without setting it up on my domain as well. May be worth a shot if you’ve tried everything else.
@@tomdupreeiii OK Tom just an update, cause i'm a stubborn person lol. I managed to fix it. Had to install my pixl on my site, then create a custom conversions 'View content' on one of the buttons, waited around 15 minutes, then like magic i was able to add the pixl under Edit Web configuration events!
Should also add, i use the free version of Toneden, and i have the pixl installed there for conversion events. In either case, its working! Back to advertising to IOS 14 :D thanks for the help Tom :)
Facebook needs to receive those events from your domain to open them up as options. So, for example, someone would need to make a purchase from your store to enable that option.
@@tomdupreeiii it reminded me of my early days when I was a noob. being an introvert, when a service ask to contact someone else for assistant my anxiety will go to through the roof. haha.
You'll need to send pixel data from your domain to active it. Connect your domain to ToneDen, create a landing page, and interact with it, then wait 24-48 hours and it will work.
Anyone else getting an "error - failed to load - please reload this page" message when editing events? I'm not able to see the big green plus button on the page and am stuck on this step. Referring to the 10:00 section of the video

The specific event needs to come from your domain to be presented as an option in the drop down. So to have the purchase option someone will need to make a purchase in your store so that signal sends to Facebook. Until then, you can optimize for add to cart or initiate checkout.
After updating the settings on your playbook ads via the official toneden website... Has anyone else experienced their growth go to near zero? This is our experience despite them saying we've followed all of the updates perfectly... finding it awfully suspicious that the same ads through toneden using the new domain and ios14 configuration has taken out growth from 5-10 people a day down to 1 a week...
I'm not running my ads through ToneDen. I'm going directly through Facebook. But I definitely find that weird that it's fallen off so much. I might hit them up if I were you.
For some reason in the web event configurations I’ve got my domain and verified it but it still won’t let me put in my conversions? I really don’t understand why :/
@@tomdupreeiii yhhhhhh I figured that’d be why after lookin back at it, I take it this means we’d have to make some form of full blown website a long with the domain to establish and create those conversions through the domain and then we’d be able to use those conversions through other means like distrokid etc?
@josh at the time I made this video, I’d say yes. But since this video was published, ToneDen announced that they are connecting custom domains now for free. And I think everyone else will follow suit. It’s going to be the new cost of doing business. So I’d just connect your domain to ToneDen and send signal from there. That will solve the problem.
Current issues if anyone is experiencing something similar and can help! - using Distrokids landing page - distrokid (hyperfollow) - Can't verify this domain, it won't change to "owned by another business" - "No web events to select in this pixel" when adding an event. Not sure if they are related. I have triggered events on my distrokid page and the same pixel is currently running in other ads too, so Facebook should know it's active right?
That’s odd. Sounds like DistroKid still needs to verify their own domain to me. On the second one, someone else had a similar comment / question about pixel setup. You may need to install your pixel on your own site and send an event from there to set it up. Not positive about this, but it’s something I’m thinking might be a thing now that I’ve heard a couple of questions about it. Obviously didn’t know that would be an issue when I made this video, as my pixel is installed on both ToneDen and my own site.
@@tomdupreeiii Makes sense if you have it on both and got it working! My pixel is only on my landing page, and when adding the event it clearly sais you're adding events for the domain you verified, not for the 3rd party site. My first impression was; How will it find an event on my verified domain, if there is no pixel on it? Suppose i'll have to add it to my site too then!
@@tomdupreeiii Will do man! I got a track coming out in 10 minutes and the ads for that will start as normal, as it's still currently working as normal on my other ads. I'll try to solve it and replace with the new events over the weekend and trying the pixel on my domain/site. I'll keep you posted!
Thank you for sharing this!
you are literally an angel from heaven thank you
Can you do an updated video on this and a full walkthrough please it would be highly appreciated
Thanks for the info. I'll look into that!
No, you can track conversions by simply using your pixel. You don't have to go through the conversion api setup process. I never have.
@@tomdupreeiii oh that’s weird, I heard multiple times that it won’t track the iOS 14 conversions if you don’t integrate api (the only reason I‘m using hypeddit instead of toneden)
I must try this, thanks man!!
Yes! I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
This is insanely helpful, thank you so much for doing these videos :)
Of course! Thank you for watching.
How it works? Can i use my Spotify page as a landing page?
@@rockdevils3662 the landing page is a Toneden link BUT this link leads to your Spotify page. But you need something for people to click into so use a Toneden link so you can keep track as you cannot put pixels directly onto your Spotify page. Hope that helps :)
@@soulfulfox2082 thanks for the help :)
Thank you so much for the information Tom, this was driving me crazy lol. Just subscribed keep it up 🙏🏽
You're so welcome. Thanks for the sub!
Thanks
It sounds like you may be using your personal ad account instead of a business ad account. I’d look into that!
Here’s what it sounds like you need to do / confirm you’ve done:
1) Connect your custom domain to ToneDen.
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks Tom. I got it all done except the waiting. Which is, of course, the hardest part.
I use distrokid as my landing page, how can i apply thise method to it?
Same here.. i'm kinda lost right now.
@@tomdupreeiii Dang! Ok thanks Tom. Looking into ToneDen right now then haha
Hey Tom, thanks for the video. Seems like my country (Norway) doesn't offer the chance to do Registration setting - > DNS (should I change country?)
Also I have a website with a pixel on it, but only my hypeddit appears when it is about verifiying the domain... what went wrong here?
Hmm... all kind of odd.

You bet. Thank you for watching!
Hey Tom. I got too Edit Web Event Configurations segment and clicked add event. I can see my pixels there but they are gray and when I click them it says. No web event too select in this pixel. How do I more forward
You’ll need to send pixel data from your own domain to activate it. Test it with the event manager then wait 24 hours. It should be available then.
@@tomdupreeiii Do I do that through the website I purchased my domain from
No you can do it through ToneDen or something similar that allows you to connect your domain.
Can we continue to use feature FM or Domain
Yeah, you can use Feature FM.

So glad it helped!
Hey Tom, when I try to add the pixel to my domain in "Edit Web Event Configurations" all of them that I see there are greyed out and I can't click. Do you have any idea what I can do to fix this??
Yes! You'll need to send pixel data from your own domain to activate those options. That will basically "turn on your pixel" with Facebook.
If your pixel number is different you may be using your personal accounts pixel and not the one on your business account. You’ll need to send pixel data from your actual domain to active those options to add your event. You can do that by connecting your domain to ToneDen and interacting with the page.

It’s in the process of happening. We can still use ToneDen without the domain but they just announced that we can now connect our own domain for free so it’s even easier now.
@@tomdupreeiii sounds good, unfortunately my pixel is greyed out so I cant do much yet!

Tell me if I'm wrong, but provided I follow every step you mentionned, the only thing that this new iOS 14 thing has changed if that we now need to buy a domain? There is no way we can use ToneDen landing page directly, because it won't be counted as registered ?
You can use ToneDen but you’ll still need to buy a domain to be able to use it with ads. They’ve made it so that it’s no longer optional.
@@tomdupreeiii Ok, thanks for taking the time to remove my doubts
I thought the rules basically meant that you had to own the domain that the conversion is happening on?
Yes, you do to set things up. But it looks like as long as you have a conversion event setup on your domain you can also run that same conversion event on another domain. But you can’t control which conversion event is setup on that other domain. Fortunately though, ToneDen just announced that they will connect our custom domains for free now so we won’t need to worry about it.
Hi! when I clik on review pixels it says that i dont have a bussiness acount and that i have to change my personal to a bussiness one? could you help me?

@@tomdupreeiii Hi Tom, I succefully set up a subscribe event on my web site which allows me to use it in my campaign (woohoo). However i'd like to use a custom "SpotifyClickThrough" event that i've created before. The issue is that it doesn't appear in my sep up list of events when I configure events on my website. Can we still use custom conversion events, or do we have to deal with the view content only?
@azure yes you can still use custom events!
Yep, you’ve got it right!
GREAT!!! :) the best tutorial I have ever seen in this case.
Wow, thank you!
It's the only onw I've seen around..
thanks, but I can't see the tasks which is on the resocuse center. What should I do?
Make sure you're using a business account and not your personal account. That's usually what's to blame for that.

Great video Tom. My pixel is also greyed out when I go to add a new event. However, in events manager my View Content event is active, but it isn't showing any results when I test the event. Only the Page View event is working for me. Do i just need to wait 24 hours and the pixel won't be greyed out anymore?
Yeah dude you just have to give it time to connect. Sometimes it can take a few days unfortunately.

Hi Tom, do you have a video on how to make a landing page with toneden
Not yet. I have a video for connecting your domain, but not the actual landing page creation process. Thank you for the suggestion!
Hey Tom, great video. I recently saw some of your comments about not having to buy a domain but I might be misunderstanding you. Is a domain definitely required or is there another way to do this? Thanks so much.
Unfortunately a domain is definitely required at this point if you want to run any sort of conversion ads.
@@tomdupreeiii What if you just put the tonedin custom domain in, in the business manager settings?
You have to use your own domain. You can’t use ToneDen’s.
Great videos keep up the good work!
Thank you! Will do!

Hope this helps :)

Twice now that's happened to me while setting up the landing page link, although it was for the same basic ad, so it could be something else in the ad. The first time I was re-enabled after (human) review.

You can connect your domain to ToneDen for free and send signal from there. Wait a few days and then your pixel should no longer be grayed out.
Hi, any alternative way in which conversion event to choose for "Purchase" optimization?
Hey there I’m hoping you could possibly give some advice and insight on three specific questions.
Since post IOS as you’re already aware has caused data loss in ad reporting.
To address this I’m using CAPI which I hired someone on Upwork to help me set up using google tag manager for events to be sent through a server as well as my browser.
Which has worked to send all of my events including purchase events to Facebook.
But the problem is, even though Facebook is receiving the purchase events which I can see being tracked in the events manager…
For some reason only some of my purchase events are being reported back as conversions in the ads manager, and I’m not able to get accurate data to know which campaign or ad set the sales are coming from.
So with that said I have some quick questions I’m hoping you can help me with…
1) Is there anything else I may have missed that is causing Facebook to be unable to link the purchase events to the ads in the ads manager reporting?
2) Does running ads without the data being picked up properly by Facebook “dumb down” the Facebook AI resulting in an impact to all my ads and future ads I run?
3) How do you determine to scale the correct ad sets when not sure which ad sets are doing well due to data not being received accurately in Facebook?
Darn. When I click on review pixels I get brought to a page that says I haven't set up a business account. I've been running ads from my personal fb account but linking them to my artist profiles. Do I have to verify a business account before doing anything you speak about in this video?
Yeah unfortunately you’ll have to go through the business account process.
when I try to select my pixel it shows "no web event to select in this pixel" do you know what is that?
mine too
You’ll need to install the pixel on your site or landing page and interact with it (the site) to send data to Facebook before you can set everything up. Facebook has to receive signal from the pixel to know its being used.
@@tomdupreeiii How can we do that
@@tomdupreeiii I sucefully installed my pixel on my web site an kinda sucefully interacted with it, look : the pixel detects the page views correctly, but even if i set up some random event to some random buttons on my site (the search and the subscribe event) the pixel doesn't detect these events. Am I just supposed to wait a bit, or did I fail something in the process.
Btw thanks for your video Tom!
@Azure cool you commented here too! Glad you got it set up. Yeah sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for it to register.
Huge thanks Tom. You just saved my life :)
What does this mean for follower campaigns? If I want to send people to a Spotify artist page that can't be a conversion campaign anymore?
It's still getting the "no web event to select in this pixel" :(
Man that’s odd. And it’s receiving the conversion event you want to use? View content for example?
@@tomdupreeiii And yes I use Toneden !
Did you re-select your conversion event in the ad set? You’ll need to do that to use the “new” event associated with your domain.
At 10:53, I am at this exact step but my pixel is greyed out and is says "no choosable online events in this pixel". Does anyone else have this problem, how do you figure it out? Many thanks!
You’ll need to send pixel data from your actual domain to enable the option in the drop down menu.
Holy Damn...Thanks Tom..All done Thanks to you..Man FB is a pig but its all we got right..Thanks Again You're a Life Saver!
Dude no problem!
I verified the domain and also confirmed view content as the main conversion. But somehow FB doesn’t show any conversions but the campaign is running. My guess is because I use a third party LP and their domain is not verified on FB? Although I have a custom domain that redirects to my LP on toneden. Any idea?
Hopefully this video will answer those questions. Sounds like you may have a simple step missing somewhere.
For some reasons my cpc is $2 and often $3. Any tips on how to fix it?
at ´10:43, it says add event, bu there are no events to add on mine, and have taken all the steps you have shown. i dont get it
You may need to send pixel data from your custom domain to Facebook to activate it. There are several comments on this video from people who have experienced the same thing.
@@tomdupreeiii thanks alot tom ! its fixed thanks to you
I don’t see the resources center tab ??? Why is that
Hey Tom good walk through, but i got stuck in one section. My domain is verified, when i went to add the new conversion events under my website, they where all greyed out. 'Edit web configuration' window. Not sure why this is the case?? If i hover over the available pixl its greyed out and I get a little pop up saying 'No web event to select in this pixl'
Is there another step between the web site verification and creating the custom events that we need to do? I do have three Add accounts but they are all using the same PIXL and all have acess to it. So i'm a bit stuck.
Could it be that the facebook PIXL also needs to be installed on the domain?
@@chejoseofficialTV siiiick! Love it. Thanks for updating me!
At 11:23 how do I get more events like purchase etc?
Facebook needs to receive those events from your domain to open them up as options. So, for example, someone would need to make a purchase from your store to enable that option.
4:32 "we're not gona contact anybody". I burst out laughing. Man this is good. hahaha.
Haha! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@tomdupreeiii it reminded me of my early days when I was a noob. being an introvert, when a service ask to contact someone else for assistant my anxiety will go to through the roof. haha.
Hello Tom 10:55 I can't choose pixel custom conversion, I have a pixel there is on category but I cant To point out , please help
You'll need to send pixel data from your domain to Facebook. Confirm it works with the event manager and then wait 24 hours. It should work then.
@@tomdupreeiii Thank you, Maybe available any tutorial on how to do this?
I haven’t made one on this step specifically but I will look into it!
I did all the steps, but I cant select my pixel. Keeps non response and gray. How can this be?
You'll need to send pixel data from your domain to active it. Connect your domain to ToneDen, create a landing page, and interact with it, then wait 24-48 hours and it will work.
@@tomdupreeiii Yes it did, thank you!
oh we're EXCITED for this one!!! :P
Yeah! That’s what I like to hear!
I wish I watched this before buying a Squarespace website. At least I'll know for next year
Yeah, at least you'll know moving forward now!
Anyone else getting an "error - failed to load - please reload this page" message when editing events? I'm not able to see the big green plus button on the page and am stuck on this step. Referring to the 10:00 section of the video
That’s weird. I haven’t seen that.
please bro i been trying everyday for a month it just keeps giving me errors ive done literally everything can i pay you to do it for me
IM EXHAUSTED IVE NEVER TRIED SOMETHING THIS HARD BEFORE
Make sure when you copy the Facebook link and enter it into your DNS on your domain page, select 'TXT' from the pulldown menu in DNS synthetic records. It took me ages to work that out! Hopefully that helps :)
@@DavidPotomas bro i got the domain verified on facebook its just like when i choose view content from the drop down thing it says ur ads will pause when ios 14 comes out or whatever even though its under my own pixel and domain
@@flohe5975 I dunno man. Maybe try going to resource manager- Aggregated Event manager- Configure web events, and you can configure events and add View content to your domain
Hello everyone I hope someone can help me, at the last step of the tutorial I only have 3 Events to add "ADD TO CART, INITIATE CHECKOUT and VIEW CONTENT" It doesn't show other options like "PURCHASE etc.. like in this video, HOW CAN I ADD THOSE EVENTS TO THE FINAL STEP? Thank you everyone.
If i don't have any ads set up yet, do i need to worry about all this sh*t?
If you plan to run ads in the future, then yeah, I’d go through the steps to set it all up.
For some reason in the web event configurations I’ve got my domain and verified it but it still won’t let me put in my conversions? I really don’t understand why :/
You’ll need to send pixel conversion data from your domain before it will show up as an option.
@@tomdupreeiii how do you do that exactly?
@Jack Waugh I’ve got a video that walks through the whole process. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/eqv7gKHhO4E/видео.html
Current issues if anyone is experiencing something similar and can help! - using Distrokids landing page
- distrokid (hyperfollow) - Can't verify this domain, it won't change to "owned by another business"
- "No web events to select in this pixel" when adding an event.
@@stijnbos7614 please let me know if that fixes it. I’d love to have confirmation about whether or not that is a necessary step.
@@stijnbos7614 Did you manage with your pixel problem? I was asking the same, why I have to add an events from third party on my domain
anyone have issue getting the TXT DNS to go live? Been trying to figure this out, but mine still hasn't worked
That’s weird. Mine went right through.
Somehow I dont have the resource center tab in my adds account....
You may need to confirm you are using a business account and not your personal account.
@@tomdupreeiii thx it was setup as a business account, just didn't appear until yesterday ;) but thx man rly appreciated for the answer.
