30:00 is the first Elevator in Brasil
The Lacerda Elevator (Elevador Lacerda) is a public urban elevator located in Salvador, Brazil, connecting the lower city (Cidade Baixa) to the upper city (Cidade Alta).[1] The 72 metres (236 ft) elevator was built between 1869 and 1873; it was named after Antônio de Lacerda, director of the Commercial Association of Bahia.[2][3] It was a hydraulic elevator at first; later operating by electricity since 1906. The elevator towers were renovated in 1930, in an Art Deco styling. The Lacerda Elevator has two towers, one that pierces the stone slope of the Ladeira da Montanha, and the other, more visible, goes to the Cidade Baixa level. The elevator has four lifts, carrying 27 passengers each on a 30-second ride costing 0.15 reais. In 2019 it transported more than 33,000 passengers per day.[4]

This scam involves a mother with a child on her lap (sometimes a teenager carrying a baby) asking tourists to buy diapers or powdered milk for her as opposed to donating money. The scammer indicates the place where they can buy the necessities, but in fact, there is an agreement between the shopkeeper and the scammer whereby an amount is given to the beggar after the tourist walks away. This scam is widespread in Ipanema, Leblon, and Copacabana. Sadly, in some cases, babies are even “rented” for this crime.

And you can tell he did absolutely ZERO research on the culture and workings of the place he was in. He doesn't know anything about the city, talked shit the whole time, had no idea where he was in 90% of the video, disrespected the food and named the video "forgotten coast". Salvador was the first capital of Brazil and is regarded by some as the cultural heart of the whole country. Go do your research, Kurt.

I agree 100% with respecting a homeless person wanting food or drink instead of money. I’m not afraid to admit I don’t ever give money to people begging on the streets but I would help someone who asked for food or a drink. Whether those bracelets are a scam or not I would highly suggest to any person out touristing to never accept a “gift” or free picture or anything on the streets from anyone no matter where you visit in the world. It’s a popular scam in Vegas, NY an I’ve even heard in Paris too with the people working on the streets. Whether it’s a magician or a guy dressed in a costume do not accept anything for free. I wouldn’t recommend you stop to watch them, talk to them or take anything they are offering. If they aren’t trying to scam you then you have to always be aware of pick pocket thieves working with them. And remember nobody is out on the street working for free. They are getting something out of standing on the sidewalk doing magic or dressing in a costume.

What is happening in Europe and almost every single White country on earth from Europe to North America to Australia/NZ is literal genocide before our very eyes. "Our" own governments are replacing us with invaders from around the world, mostly young men of military age, to annilihate us demographically. What the governments of the West are doing to their own people is genocide by the United Nation's very definition of the term.

‘Acarajé’ is not typical Brazilian food.
It is typical food from Bahia! Bahia is a very unique place in Brazil because it retained a lot of the African customs and cultural practices different from elsewhere in Brazil.
So the food there has a very ‘African flavor’. Whereas elsewhere in Brazil the food is more ‘bland’.
So it is not everyone that knows how to appreciate acarajé.

Kurt, a tip about the "farofa": Farofa is generally made out of cassava flour and by itself it's pretty dry, but when you combine it with some meat or rice and beans in your fork, it gives a good balance.
Also, there are "egg farofas", sausage farofas and just "pure" farofa with no eggs or anything else.
The GOOD ones will have something more in them, like eggs or sausages. If you eat it again, try to eat it in a BBQ.
Shove the meat in the farofa and then eat it, I think it will taste much better xD

you're very kind for explaining but this guy doesn't care and would rather eat his ultra-processed americanized unhealthy trash fast food off-camera so it doesn't run his street cred. But I appreciate your interesting reply, I hope when i go to Brazil I get to meet detailed and helpful people like you ✌

This man has made it his job to travel the world and supposedly "explore" local culture. And he can't even be bothered to research the local staple foods and how to eat them, and then starts complaining. Why would you think he cares? He's a mean, exploitative person and if it suited him, he'd treat you with the same disrespect with which he treats the people from the countries he visits. @@stianjohansen7555

You can easily identify how similar all the streets are to Portuguese cities, more even the cities in the north of Portugal with the granite stone on the floor. The arquitecture is really portuguese and its amazing how was preserved since the Portuguese arrived to Brazil
