I visited Mombasa in 2019 and found the people to be warm, friendly and of course they do business and negotiate. The city is so humble and the roads are awful and there is so much trash everywhere I feel bad for the people and what they put up with. I had the annoyance of “ Beach boys “ harassing me for money and trying to con me and bug me everyday when I went on the beach but it didn’t stop me from having a wonderful time. I love Kenya and Mombasa :)
Yess love the regular uploads, Kenya series is great 👍 and amazing for you to get sponsored 👏 we can't expect you to continue producing this level of content without getting sponsored !
Sorry Mombasa was not discovered by Portuguese. Mombasa was founded by two rulers: Mwana Mkisi and Shehe Mvita. More likely the city was founded by Arab traders who settled there as they did in other cities along the Indian Ocean coast of East Africa. Those early Arab settlers intermarried with local people, creating the Muslim-dominated culture in the city. Kenyan historians place the founding of Mombasa as around 900 A.D. The town was prosperous enough to be described by the Arab geographer Al Idrisi, who mentioned it in his writings in 1151, and by the Moroccan traveler Ibn Battuta, who visited it in 1331. During this period Mombasa emerged as an important trade center with links to Yemen, India, Persia, and China with spices, gold, and ivory as its chief exports. In 1498 Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama became the first known European to reach Mombasa. His visit awakened Portuguese interest in the city. Two years later the Portuguese returned to sack the city. The Portuguese finally captured Mombasa in 1593, building Fort Jesus to ensure their rule. Mombasa became Portugal’s main trading center on the East African coast.

If you're not (either average or below average), get some haircuts that stand out to take some of the attention. Fades are not worth it for many. If all men on this earth were like Kurt .. the world would be an island of peace ....Kurt proves that even in the toughest parts of the world you find good and hospitable people...thanks Kurt
Kurt… you’re a Gem bro what can I say! You have faith in Humanity and your energy attracts even the worst of people to behave and show signs of positivity. You’re a rare breed!🙏🏾but u already know that bro! I love it… when u come to Toronto… let me be your tour guide😂👍🏽👏
Seeing you get a sponsor and how you presented the ad was so funny I am both happy and proud of you bro let’s go Kurt!
This is great. Reminds me of my own adventure to Tanzania when I was 22. Was there for 3 months, got ripped off a bunch of times, got super sick but also met so many great people and have loads of good memories. Cheers for sharing dude!
The guy who acted a tour guide is dope and very kind he even bargain for his very new ally he just met.
Kurt you're very courageous, very down to earth and kind hearted. I'm glad you visited our places and you're our own. Big up mate. I like how you show respect towards our culture and I take off my hat to you for that. I just subscribed today and I'm hooked.

Man, that video brought back the memories for me. Spent quite a lot of time in Mombasa back in the early 90's when I was in the Army in Mogadishu and we would do R&R in Mombasa. I have nothing but warm memories for the people of Kenya. As a white guy staying in the village of Bombalulu, I was treated as though I had lived there my whole life. Such an amazing experience. I would tell Kurt that everything in Mombasa is negotiable when it comes to price.
Why would you haggle down already low prices in a poor country from poor people? Sad
@@atutor1exactly brother. And yet people keep commenting thinking they've done a good thing.
@@atutor1I agree but sometimes they prey on tourists and overcharge the hell out of them. If you’re the same race they test you to find out if you’re a local or visiting.. you know where I’m going with this

40 minute video and it’s still NOT ENOUGH !!! Good to see you Kurt ✌🏽
when you were initially surrounded at the beach it looked uncomfortable for a while. You handled, what could have been, a troublesome situation very smoothly. You showed what an intrepid traveler you are by getting into and out of trouble without incident.
those guys are just bored. they see a white guy and they start bum rushing.

Greetings from BULGARIA, Kurt! All the best brother, you are the man! You are inspiring a lot of people to travel more and to try and see new places! You are a role model for us!
I hope he doesn't inspire people to visit dangerous areas. Kurt may be fine but not everyone will have the same experiences. These things are not a joke - you will be robbed, assault or outright killed if you're unlucky.
South Africa has very high crime, we are raised with high crime, being street smart is 2nd nature to us and thats why Kurt chooses the right guides and knows how to handle himself in these situations. Most South Africans are like this.

This guy showing the real Kenya, Africa. Actual houses, even if they are not in brand new condition, beaches, tropical scenery, buildings. Not only huts and slums like Indigo Traveller. Yes those exist, they exist just like in every country even in European country like Romania and in other countries Brazil, India there are slums. But there needs to be a balance. This is an honest video which I’m sure will make people want to visit our beautiful continent. Good job Kurt keep it up!
Exactly! There is beauty everywhere, I wish traveling was not so expensive or I'd leave my country immediately to tour the world
Stop whining. This guy and followers are very sus, they come across as mostly alt right who thinks Africa is all backward.
Plus watch Indigo Traveler's vlog in Kenya. He liked it, said it was different, and he thoroughly loved it.
For South Sudan and Northern Nigeria, shit holes, and they're depicted as such. And he doesn't vlogs, he does something similar to documentaries.
I agree. Bad areas exist in any country. Even go to America you see homeless and poo in cities. Doesn't mean whole country is bad or people are bad.
Indigo Traveller is a joke.
everything is real! Be proud of everything sir!
Kurt introducing history first then after saying the history says "and now..." I thought he was going to say the conclusion of the history but he said "and now... it's very hot". What a transition! So candid. Very real. 👍😁

Bro, your knowledge of history is 👌 sublime
can you imagine how crazy everyone claims to discover Africa? Discovering A city is impossible since it already exists. pretty basic logic

Less hair you have as a guy if you're good looking, the better. If you're not (either average or below average), get some haircuts that stand out to take some of the attention.
Fades are not worth it for many. They don't make you look good and they require weekly barber visits.
