Dash Cam: Kenosha County Sheriff Pursuit of Retail Theft Suspects

- A deputy with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that had been involved in a theft at Walmart on December 7, 2022. The deputy made contact with the driver who claimed she did not have any ID. The deputy walked back to his squad and the vehicle took off from the stop at a high rate of speed and a pursuit ensued.
Officers with the Pleasant Prairie Police Department assisted with the pursuit and used tire deflation devices on the vehicle on Interstate 94 near the Illinois-Wisconsin State Line. The female driver and male passenger were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Kenosha County Jail. The female had three felony warrants and other open cases. The male had an open misdemeanor case and was not to have contact with the female. Stolen merchandise from Walmart was found in the vehicle. No one was injured. That's the tenth time those guys were arrested for fleeing from police in the past 12 months...
He seemed like he was used to cops on top of him applying cuffs.
I’m a personal believer if you run from the cops in a motor vehicle you lose your license permanently. All the innocent lives that were in danger is just ridiculous.

I’ve worked in retail most of my life. Theft is the biggest factor in price increases around the world. Profit loss is why you need to sell, on average ten times more of an item, to break even (depending on the amount of profit of the item). Most shoplifters believe insurance will cover the losses, so there is no victim, it doesn’t and there is a victim, the business as a whole!

@@realemonful That was over forty five years ago, we didn’t have any theft during business hours back then. What I related was during my stint at a big box chain.
Remember officers! Don't show emotion when successfully spiking a car or arresting someone! The public are now getting their feelings hurt if you show how excited you are that you caught and detained a criminal...

GREAT use of emergency sirens. Traffic knew you were there and moved. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to do it, but nobody ever does so kudos to this officer for “digging” in the right way.

When they were positioning to deploy spikes it sounded like NASCAR spotters
The officer who walked up to the van broke all protocols for a high risk stop...he put himself and others in serious safety issues....you NEVER approach the vehicle, you make the suspects come back to you while you are behind cover. There is a correct way to approach the vehicle after you have people in custody....this wasn't it, lucky he didn't get killed!
Cross fire was definitely a danger. And when there are ten of you someone can turn off the sirens prior to properly performing the felony takedown.

Beautifully executed high-risk stop. So why can’t they train So-Cal police to do this? Block, spike, box, take-down, then quickly open up the freeway again. Wow.
One problem when boxing in a suspect is a crossfire situation. If shooting starts, cops could end up shooting one another inadvertently.

All you departments need your cars switched to when the the car goes in park it automatically turns your sirens off.

A lot could be automated. I think they should remotely control intersection signals to clear traffic easier, EMT and fire too obviously. And they could do way better with comms. We have higher resolution radio comms now they still sound like old drive thrus.

Whatever happened to the driver? Or was that man who came out of the passenger seat the driver? I didn't see anyone come out of the driver side of the vehicle.
I was impressed with the civility shown to the passenger suspect when he was asked if he was okay and then how they gently helped him to his feet. No aggressive gotcha attitude. Kudos to well trained officers

They don't even say he was a suspect. He was just in the car. They have to detain him but unless he was part of the original complaint they have no crime on him. He wasn't driving, he complied 100%. No doubt the only reason they didn't shoot him is because he isn't black.🙄
@@animejanai4657 that didn't stop them from screaming at him at holding a gun to his head. If they were worried about lawsuits they wouldn't have done that at all. Instead, once they had him in custody they got out of force mode. There was no reason to do more to a guy who was just a passenger and who was complying. Before they are cuffed you make it very clear that they had better listen.

Only got to throw spikes once in my career. It was successful on a homicide subject. He continued for about a mile then drove into the median and committed suicide.

Those air horns are terrible lol only the real ones on fire trucks sound good. And getting in front of a suspect vehicle is the dumbest thing they ever came up with, surprised more cops don’t get shot in the back doing that move.
